I don't know mutch about japanese swordsmanship i'm european longsword student, but i see you are weak on legs. Train footing first, all power and speed of swordfight is hidden in how you use legs. Dont be too "inline" go sideways. I know that in kendo or fencing its only attacks in center line, but thats false, halfstep sideways and counterstrike is deadly for swordsman that is too inline. Also i see you "hang" after each strike. You have to go from one strike to another without any hesitation.
Not bad! I like that there is a definite end point in your strokes...That is good. On thing that you might want to work on in jaseh (stance), try to center your body more, and sink into each cut. Also remember that the sword cuts with a drawing motion, not straight chops, you must pull the blade through your target to be effective. Lastly, try to relax your upper body more...Only tense your muscles on the very last moments of your stroke, then relax again. Keep training!
can some1 teach me some basic technique well im 17 and i want to learn cause i dont want to regret this and looking for a instructor to teach is pretty hard and it is also cost me alot of money those who r already master plz sen me ur vids and message
It's called passing step. In euro fencing you start moving your sword right before you strike. Your opponent won't know the direction of your attack, at the same time passing step adds a lot of power to the strike.
not bad for starter swordsman (im guessing ur a starter since ur vid says "starter sword techniques") no offense but im 11 1/2 and im better, keep practicing and maybe u can be very good.
Read what? There was nothing to read. He said starting level sword techniques. He sucks at doing it. As a practitioner of Japanese swordsmanship, I know what I'm talking about.
Also, I might add that in your second sentence you didn't need to reverse the verb order. Or you just needed a question mark. Either:
Hope you're not using that on them chickens, ha ha! No but seriously, it's a very helpful clip for me at least, learned some good moves from it. Cheers!

I think unless the enemy is also armed with a single edged, blunt tipped, flat handled sword then these would be a good way to get your belly cut.

Appreciate the feedback
I am several hundred kms away from the places I used to train weapons at.
One of the advantages of youtubing my stuff is the more useful commentary.
Thanks

Idiot.

Oo. Are we trying to act all smart here.
Someone who's almost 30 should know better than to laugh at people who might not be as good as them(which I doubt).
Also, I might add that in your previous post, you also could have either put a question mark.
"Do you suck?"
Or you could have just said.
"You suck."
F*cking grow up, you're almost 30.

Thanks for the video Ozowen. Youtube isn't the place to post anything unless you don't mind being criticized by children.

Certainly not a master!
It's OK if you aren't interested. Plenty of folks aren't. No worries.
ozowen 4 years ago
are you a master or something? if not why are you showing that? that doesn't have any interest if you don't show anything correct
