@FlotsamJetsamdvsn I agree I went to hella concerts in the late 70's and all through the 80's and saw some of the first performances of so many Metal bands and then I got married and didn't really go to any Metal shows in the 90's and then I went to Ozz fest in 2003 and couldn't believe my ears all the Metal bands sounded the same with dropped tuning and no leads and all the vocals sounded like Death Metal and it has gotten worse.
Woah, I pictured the Singer to look so different, he has a fucking mad Thrash voice (well, of the first two Albums as they are the only ones I listened to).
i tend to think anyone who DOESN'T know of Flotsam & Jetsam is a "poser" : ) I adored these guys back when 'Doomsday...' was released, and thought 'No Place For Disgrace' was one of the coolest Elektra label signings ever. (tho the production was horrid & the Elton John cover silly). As far as recognition, don't forget they did a Chris Cornell penned tune on 'Cuatro' : p
@CultureOfNone How is it silly? I think your silly. The song has great lyrics that apply to anyone who likes to party. It's people like you that are posers that can't think outside of the box.
He's the only reason they ever got any recognition, because he went to Metallica. Nobody ever heard of them before that, mainly because they suck ass.
Their second record, No Place For Disgrace is actually better than that first record they did with Newsted. They proved to do just fine without him. That's another reason I think Jason Newsted is a faggot. He shoulden't have been a part of Flotsam & Jetsam to begin with.
Testament didin't need any Metallica band members to get recognition. Neither did Flotsam & Jetsam. I know more about that music scene than you do. You're wrong.

when i bought 'doomsday'from flotsam and jetsam, the thing that stood out above everything else was jason's bassplaying .a couple of years later i wasn't surprised he was playing in metallica.jason also wrote all the songs for doomsday, wich james hetfield never let him do that for metallica.(why james, too heavy????!!!!)
yea most metal was in the 80's. lik metallica, megadeth, slayer, anthrax, and probably every thrash metal band u can think of. but there r newer bands that have that old school thrash sound lik Fueled by fire, diamond plate, and devastator.
Wow...lots of talk about talent. Every member of this band has talent. I see both sides of the discussion. Doomsday is a very heavy, even fresh at the time, thrash record. Jason wrote a lot of the tunes on Doomsday. Remember, this was a MetalBlade release; not a lot of production money there. If Jason had stayed, no doubt F&J would have evolved into something very special. But as it is F&J evolved with Troy Gregory. Elektra may not had given them much, but enough to put out polished work.
Yeah, I think they went on to MCA, but Newstead...well, who the hell knows what they let him play on those Metallica records. He was an animal on that first F&J record though. Fuck, I loved that record when I got it. Jason just never evolved past the furious, punk inspired, thrash bassist.
I tend to disagree - he played with Voivod and their old stuff was definitely complex and weird, plus playing with Ozzy rounded him as all around rock bassist.
I was actually expecting great things from him after he quit Metallica - I was think "this guy will now blow them away with all the songs he's written" but I guess same as Dave Elefson - he was just a shadow of a great frontman.
W/regard to Dave E: Yeah, no shit...what happened to Jr? I was absolutely enthralled with Ellefson's bass playing. But where is he now? Mustaine is a fucking genius guitarist/songwriter. He's gotten consistently better over the years.
It's a shame that Cliff died (for many reasons). This band (with Jason) sounded like they could have evolved into something quite special. Their sound probably would have evolved into a more refined and elegant style of thrash (if that makes any sense). Oh well.
i do think no place for disgrace was a fair improvement to doomsday for the deciever however i think troy gregory and jason ward did a very exceptional job of carrying on where Jason Newsted left off. Quite honestly it dont really matter the bass isnt the only member of a band.
fuck you too you 22 year old punk, you arent even old enough to even have seen this band when they toured in the 80s punk. go back and jack off to your godsmack and korn cds you you emo fag, the only reason you like jason is because of his days in metallica, you would have never heard of him otherwise!!
If you wanna hear great stuff from Jason, buy this album "Doomsday for the Deceiver" and listen to Metal Shock...his skill is displayed. He's no Cliff, Steve, or Geddy Lee but he's got nasty chops

This is their first album. Kerrang magazine (the famous European metal magazine) gave this album (doomsday for the deceiver) 6 stars even though 5 was the maximum. Archaic sound but friggin classic through and through every song .
This song is called "She took an axe" and is one of my favorites. I had personally tabbed the guitars of this song out myself, including solos in all because its soo awesome.

i meant music wise flots was better than metallica,i stopped liking metallic when they releised that load album, yeah its a load of shit, black was not that good either, fuck metallica
Thank you everyone for telling your friends about this classic perfomance and making Flotsam and Jetsam with the early days of bassist -Jason Newstead- Metallica- SuperNova- One of my most popular videos'- Tell all your friends and welcome to my show joelsamuelpresents & bscactuspresents-
I still cannot believe that my male stripper video has out done this great music video- this is some classic Trash Metal- even if you don't like the music you will know this has value- spread the word this video- not the group rate it please and thanks for your comments. joelsamuelpresents
Jason rules!!! He is great playing bass, singing and on stage. Mosto of the first Flotsam album were writing by Jason, it's sad that James don't let Jason make music.
Hey Flotsam fans I am presenting you with these free videos and all i ask is that you let your friends know they are here- I produce variety entertainment and all I ask if you like it spread my link to your friends and welcome to my show.
well metallica didnt let jason do what he was capable of doing. mainly coz he was always percieved as the 'new guy'. it is a shame coz he is a good bass player.
In passing, I defend this band blooddrive, and a true musician doesn't go around saying that other's suck. This band is one of the best in my book from the 80's, and as I said Eric A.K. is still belting em out. Eric is one of my favorite metal vocalist.
Hey blooddrive, if the singer fuckin sucks, why is still grinding it out 20 fuckin years later. Wait, you do know why.go shove it where the light don't shine bitch
Ya know, Jason has been in Metallica, Voi Vod., Supernova. It would be too cool if he returned to his roots and rejoin the band that rocked harder than anything he has done, Flotsam and Jetsam.
The song is called She took an axe, by Flotsam & Jetsam. It is about Lizzie Borden. From the Doomsday For The Deciever album, kick ass shit Newstead wrote the majority of it too.

Jason rules!!! He is great playing bass, singing and on stage. Mosto of the first Flotsam album were writing by Jason, it's sad that James don't let Jason make music.

omg this is soooo good basss playing..... why didnt he play like that in metallica?
llamo666999 4 years ago
well metallica didnt let jason do what he was capable of doing. mainly coz he was always percieved as the 'new guy'. it is a shame coz he is a good bass player.

It would be too cool if he returned to his roots and rejoin the band that rocked harder than anything he has done, Flotsam and Jetsam.
maukrvp 5 years ago
Kickass! I think Jason should've done the singing though.

The song is called She took an axe, by Flotsam & Jetsam. It is about Lizzie Borden. From the Doomsday For The Deciever album, kick ass shit Newstead wrote the majority of it too.
