  • very nice !! im trying to make something similar

could you please let me know how you draw that spiral??

    thanks a lot.

  • change out the reed switch and use a photo optic interruptor with a chopper wheel. Use this to trigger your circuit.

  • Self cooling - You could possibly use a car intercooler mounted above the spinning part, add fan blades onto the arms and use the cooled water to cool down the electro magnet. This would be an efficient way of increasing the longevity of the coil however, it would increase drag on the arm unless the blades were properly designed.

  • Oh and as for the spark, a nice big schottky diode in parallel with the coil (reverse polarity, i.e. anode to negative side of coil, cathode to positive side) will sort that out.

  • @matt9741399 Thanks Matt. I've long since gone away from this build and have started another but the information is still useful thanks.

  • Why don't you just switch your coil with a transistor and give the reed switch an easier life?

  • nice one.

btw its a commutator not a commuter :)

  • you should put some wire around it (like near the magnets) and create an electric field. Then put a magnet in the middle and use it like a wind mill!

  • You would get much higher efficiency from a normal electromagnetic motor (i.e. hobby motor)

  • do you get more torque with this or with another small rotor moving the larger one?

  • How much electricity is required to spin it? Also, how much torque can it put out for the electricity put in?

  • Hi! Have you got overunity?

  • well i guess you got as much out of it as you put in to it.
