@666Mechanix I see that. That's interesting info I've never read before. I can see why it was left off this particular album, though. I'm not sure if a ballad like this wouldn't have put off the diehards a bit since the rest of the songs are of a mid-tempo or bluesy variety. I'm too young to speak to that, though. It's just my gut feeling on that. I think it should've been on the next album, maybe. The other side of me wonders what Ritchie's reason was. The solo was awesome.

Deep Puple never played this song live while Ritchie was on stage, as he hated it, unfortunately for him it has turned out to be a classic rock ballad.

I saw DP earlier this month in Glasgow, and they played this it was awsome.

I know of no one who does not love this song.

@rainbowpete2003 It's funny, because the closest Purple ever came to recapturing this song's spirit was on two tracks which Blackmore loves - Soldier of Fortune (Mk.3), and Wasted Sunsets (reformed Mk.2). I imagine he didn't hate ...Blind Man, but couldn't be arsed to rehearse a b-side - even a brilliant one like this!

Gillan's best vocal ever? Billie Holliday would be proud of this.

This is the worst song by Deep Purple. It's so poor and empty that it doesn't even sound like it was written buy them. They were genius, I can't' help wondering how they could have written such a terrible song. This is the worst ballad ever and it surely is the worst song on Machine Head. It doesn't deserve to be on such a wonderful album.

Just compare this shit with Soldier Of Fortune, which is a masterpiece and you'll know what I'm talking about.
