Its not to say that God requires us to have blind faith - he wants us to love him with all of our mind (Lk 10:27), and he will give us reason to believe if we ask him - but that God wants our relationship with him to be built on trust as much as possible (Jn 20:29).

The atheist's question would merely change from "Why doesn't God prove his existence?" to "Why doesn't God explain why he did this and not that?" Atheists themselves would become theists, but not all of them would become Christians: one can believe God exists without believing he's worthy of worship, or that Christ's death atoned for our sins.

If our every demand for proof and explanation were satisfied, we'd only trust and follow God to the extent that he proved himself to us. We would be relying on the external evidence and our own judgment of it, not actually trusting God. For us to actively trust God, we have to continue in our belief even when what we believe in isn't proven. And why is trust so important?

It doesn't seem very true to me, when either: 1) The reply is different depending on who's asking, or 2) The understanding on the reply is different, depending on who's asking. I am a devote christian who believes god judges people by there actions not there thoughts because let's face it if we were judged by our thoughts we would all be going to hell but that statement at the end seemed a little arrogant. I believe that God is a God of love. It says in the Bible "The devils believe, and tremble", so obviously believing in God is not enough. I am more than sure that God is more just than we are. People like priests who say they believe in God but still do wicked things (to children, for example) will NOT be given any better treatment that someone who has been an atheist but hasn't done bad things to people. It is by the grace of God. As a Christian friend told me, "God doesn't make mistakes."

Has a Catholic I personaily belive that God will take all your actions into consideration regardless of your belife before sending anyone to hell. We are taught in Christianity that originally there was no evil. Lucifer was an angel of light who became evil when he rebelled against God - it is said out of jealousy - and out of greed if you like and other things (only one tree we shouldn't eat) as this is a very deep subject and involves many things including disobedience to God, etc., and the first humans, and subsequent humans, disbelieving God, and believing the Devil, a liar, deceiver and betrayer. We made Satan our God.
God is our Creator, and knows, loves and understands us perfectly and absolutely. The problem really is that we don’t understand God and chose to serve Satan, a liar, deceiver and a betrayer, and made God our enemy and came to believe we were distant from him and afraid of him. That is why there is not a great deal of love and happiness in our sick society, and a lot of Hell. That’s is why we need Jesus, who was without sin, to save us from the evil that we chose and take us back to God....

But just some clarification: a 'christian' is not saved if they are only serving God out of fear or greed. A saved 'christian' will serve God out of love. Even some preachers admit that about 70% of 'christians' aren't really saved. As for murderers and rapists, they can be saved but not by only professing Christ as Lord. They need to have a true change-of-heart and turn from their ways to follow Christ.

Well articulated. Jesus didn't believe in a fiery hell and had no fear of going to Sheol/Hades aka Hell, why should we? Death is simply the absence of life. The purpose of the Bible talking about resurrecting the dead, was to show that it can be done and we could come back to life in human form. Why is death described as an enemy of God in the Bible? God is not going to reward a rebellious angel (Satan) with a kingdom (hell) of his own. There is no burning hell!
I listen and re-listen to his statements. I pray he changes his heart and lean towards God's love. Though how generic it may seem, you have to experience the love of God to completely understand his teachings. You don't want to stand before HIM and find out how completely wrong you are-- only to spend eternally in hell hearing your statements play over and over again in your mind and heart on why you chose to reject God.
@lakayna Thank you for understanding, and I am flattered that you offered to do such things. I have recently suffered the loss of a close family member, one that we all will love and remember. However, through all of the grief, all of the pain, I still stand with the same ideals. Maybe one day I will find peace with whatever it is that I choose at the end, but for right now, I am going to do what God put us on this Earth to do, regardless of what we believe. I am going to enjoy my life.

I am confused, if God knows everything about us, our past, present, and future, that implies that everything we do is pre-ordained. It has to, if he knows our future, then that means our choices have already been made for us, and we are just "going through the motions", doesn't it? So to build off of that, what is the point in living, in life at all? If we are set on path that has several forks in the road, that point is entirely negated by the fact that we have already made these choices.

Romans 9:15 says God will have mercy on whom He wants and compassion on whom He wants; (meaning He will save whom He wants). We weren't here or helped Him when He created the world, so we have no right to try to judge God on whether or not He is right about doing that.

@clikityclankz 11 years. I'm 24 now, so I dunno if I can count 13 (age "saved") and on to be mature enough to understand it all. As I got older, I started questioning but was scared because of "hell". Finally, a few months ago I let go.

God knows you more than anyone else in this world. he provides us with the necessary tools to guide us into truth. no blind faith, because his word tells us to test all things. you can live a good life and still be in hell because we are all sinners and unless we give ourself completely to him and live good because of his will. you are drenched in sin and so am I. God is in the details. It is all too easy to become the unamused atheist living a mundane 9-5 existence. When drawn into sin or in the heights of turmoil, that is when I have seen God's "hand". God is evident to the keen observer. Often abstract, but sometimes eerily tangible. I am not saying that there is a God with two hands and a smile that will either pat our heads or spank our bottoms at the end of life but I do believe A divine force IS watching and recording.

Its not to say that God requires us to have blind faith - he wants us to love him with all of our mind (Lk 10:27), and he will give us reason to believe if we ask him - but that God wants our relationship with him to be built on trust as much as possible (Jn 20:29).

The atheist's question would merely change from "Why doesn't God prove his existence?" to "Why doesn't God explain why he did this and not that?" Atheists themselves would become theists, but not all of them would become Christians: one can believe God exists without believing he's worthy of worship, or that Christ's death atoned for our sins.

Anyone will believe a stranger's statement if he immediately produces proof to back it up but believing a person without having proof requires the believer to have a positive opinion of the person and to take a certain amount of risk If the risk is large the believer is dependent on the person. If our every demand for proof and explanation were satisfied, we'd only trust and follow God to the extent that he proved himself to us. We would be relying on the external evidence and our own judgment of it, not actually trusting God. For us to actively trust God, we have to continue in our belief even when what we believe in isn't proven. And why is trust so important?

I believe that God is a God of love. It says in the Bible "The devils believe, and tremble", so obviously believing in God is not enough. I am more than sure that God is more just than we are. People like priests who say they believe in God but still do wicked things (to children, for example) will NOT be given any better treatment that someone who has been an atheist but hasn't done bad things to people. It is by the grace of God. As a Christian friend told me, "God doesn't make mistakes."

Has a Catholic I personaily belive that God will take all your actions into consideration regardless of your belife before sending anyone to hell. Your right there is no getting out of hell in our religion. Thats where relms like Pergatory and Libo come in. We are taught in Christianity that originally there was no evil. Lucifer was an angel of light who became evil when he rebelled against God - it is said out of jealousy - and out of greed if you like and other things (only one tree we shouldn't eat) as this is a very deep subject and involves many things including disobedience to God, etc., and the first humans, and subsequent humans, disbelieving God, and believing the Devil, a liar, deceiver and betrayer. We made Satan our God.

You will see that the attrocities perpetrated by God - whose book this is! - far outnumber and outweigh Satan's crimes.
For example, Satan kept some horses (four of them) in poor over-heated conditions.
Compare that to God slaying all first-born males in Egypt. Mainly babies.... just because he didn't get on with the King (who didn't die).

But just some clarification: a 'christian' is not saved if they are only serving God out of fear or greed. A saved 'christian' will serve God out of love. Even some preachers admit that about 70% of 'christians' aren't really saved. As for murderers and rapists, they can be saved but not by only professing Christ as Lord. They need to have a true change-of-heart and turn from their ways to follow Christ.

Well articulated. Jesus didn't believe in a fiery hell and had no fear of going to Sheol/Hades aka Hell, why should we? Death is simply the absence of life. The purpose of the Bible talking about resurrecting the dead, was to show that it can be done and we could come back to life in human form. Why is death described as an enemy of God in the Bible? God is not going to reward a rebellious angel (Satan) with a kingdom (hell) of his own. There is no burning hell!

Though how generic it may seem, you have to experience the love of God to completely understand his teachings. @lakayna Thank you for understanding, and I am flattered that you offered to do such things. I have recently suffered the loss of a close family member, one that we all will love and remember. However, through all of the grief, all of the pain, I still stand with the same ideals. Maybe one day I will find peace with whatever it is that I choose at the end, but for right now, I am going to do what God put us on this Earth to do, regardless of what we believe. I am going to enjoy my life.

I am confused, if God knows everything about us, our past, present, and future, that implies that everything we do is pre-ordained. It has to, if he knows our future, then that means our choices have already been made for us, and we are just "going through the motions", doesn't it? So to build off of that, what is the point in living, in life at all? If we are set on path that has several forks in the road, that point is entirely negated by the fact that we have already made these choices.

Romans 9:15 says God will have mercy on whom He wants and compassion on whom He wants; (meaning He will save whom He wants). We weren't here or helped Him when He created the world, so we have no right to try to judge God on whether or not He is right about doing that.

God knows you more than anyone else in this world. he provides us with the necessary tools to guide us into truth. no blind faith, because his word tells us to test all things. you can live a good life and still be in hell because we are all sinners and unless we give ourself completely to him and live good because of his will. you are drenched in sin and so am I. God is love but there is a cut off point. Sin will not exist forever in this world, hence the lake of fire for the devil an his angel

God is in the details. It is all too easy to become the unamused atheist living a mundane 9-5 existence. When drawn into sin or in the heights of turmoil, that is when I have seen God's "hand". God is evident to the keen observer. Often abstract, but sometimes eerily tangible. I am not saying that there is a God with two hands and a smile that will either pat our heads or spank our bottoms at the end of life but I do believe A divine force IS watching and recording.

I know this is beyond ur mental capacity. As u have said, Jesus will know the reason of ur choices. This is true, but He wants a relationship w/u. & as u would ask ur own father for help, u can do the same with Jesus. All u have 2 do is say Father, I heard so much about u & I want 2 get 2 know u better. Open my heart and mind, so I can get to know u and understand what I am missing about love, compassion & forgiveness. I pray that u will become a part of the Christian family. Be blessed!

B/c of sin, we believe n what we see, hear and taste. & b/c of sin, we have a veil that is covering our eyes from the truth. The truth that Jesus calls you daily by name asking u 2 listen. Listen like ur own biological Dad has called for ur attention. Jesus loves u still, but, like a child, u have the choice to obey or not obey. Jesus isn't asking u 2 come to Him 2 leave u alone. When u enter in2 His presence, He will guide u through life's challenges & open ur understanding 2 life's questions.

And don't tell me for the forgiveness of my sins. God could just... forgive me. No need to send your Son through an excruciating death. Just forgive me, that's it. And if God does need the blood of Christ for atonement, then He's not God, because he has to answer to some ritualistic system.

If you're true to your morals. That's all that matters. Questioning current practices of the day was what every prophet of those bibles did and were persecuted for by the clergy for those questions.
However in my humble opinion you may have taken a few things too literally and missed the metaphorical in the stories that's main purpose is to highlight morality.
This isn't only Jesus Christ's God you're talking about either. Moses and Abraham's too.The One that is All to unite for Good creation.

I'm a believer in God, In a lot of the point you made are good. He will know your Good and Bad. A lot of the churches today are so hypocritical and I would not go to them. I'm not religious I just believe in God and Jesus Christ.We are misguide by what men trying to get us to believe, not God. Your thinking is not of an atheist and for you making this video give the reason you have doubt in your own thinking if he exist or not. I feel he will take in account your righteous.

I'm a Christian. I believe with all my heart Jesus died for me and that He rose again. I know I'm going 2 Heaven. With that aside, I would like 2 say for all the Christians that are bashing people because of their beliefs,that's wrong.Some people are making valid, intelligent arguements, but some are just down right rude. God isnt pleased with that.Many people bash Christianity,not because of God, but because of the people. We as Christians need 2 became better examples of being Christ like.
