That was a horrible first choice plane!!! You should get a Super Cub LP!!! AND THAT WING WAS EASILY REPAIRABLE!!!!! Flying RC planes is not a Saturday Project. It takes years and years to master.
I totally agree.. The dummy at my local hobby shop suggested it as a first plane.. big mistake.. I also agree and recommend the supercub as a first plane. I bought the supercub AFTER this one.. back then it was RTF and not BNF like now.. I now tell people interested in the hobby to get the Hangar 9 p-51 PTS RTF. Comes with DX6i for supercub BNF AND a 40 sized RTF P-51 for when you become good at the supercub..
i was looking at one of these when i started, but got a wing dragon/begin air glad i did its hard as nails and ive flown in 30mph gust winds flying was good but landing with winds that high is very hairy specially when your plane wants to keep gliding or just hovers over the field lol
my first flight was just like yours but i hit a goal post and bust my wing, and then found it better to hand launch than try a roll of ground launch, good luck its a good hobby one year later i have 10 planes now.
the aerobird is for skill level 2 so its a bit harder to learn to fly with as its faster than the skill level 1 planes like the famous firebird phantom which has A.C.T anti crash technology which should pull you out if sticky situations, athough that only works if your pretty high up
after you master that plane the super cub or the super decathlon bl is a stunning plane and easy to fly athough its not as hardy as the good old firebirds or the bigger brothers
i tried that after I repaired it.. took off nice.. then hit a gust of wind and slammed into the ground!!! waiting to get replacement fuselage.. Glad i am learning on the Aero Bird 3.. cheap to repair.. thanks for posting.. love your big trucks.. can I go mudding with you if I am down that way?? :)
