I used to go to this dance club in 1985 and 1986....18 and over....I was 19 in 1985.....SO MUCH FUN...and no bullshit gang crap back then...just young people showing up to dance and mingle.....FUN FUN FUN.
My 86 year old friend, Marilyn Wallace, tells me that Yvonne De Carlo used to work there. Marilyn's sister was a Carroll Girl, and they used to refer to the Florentine Gardens as a "lesser Earl Carroll club."
My mother was in the trapeze act shown in this montage. She is the one in the middle. Heard many stories about this place. It was "THE" place to go and be seen; a very classy joint.
This is awesome. Hard to believe that Hollywood used to look like this. I went to Florentine Gardens in the 90s and trashy is too nice of a description.
I have a picture of my family there in 1944. Apparently now it's a trashy place. Sometimes I'm not at all convinced that the technologyu is worth it if cool floor shows make way for exotic dancers. Even the outside looks seedy now,
It's still there as far as I know. I used to go Disco dancing with friends there in the late 70's and eraly 80's It is said that the Black Daliha was last seen there the night she was killed.
