I too have pentum 4 processors, but sadly all the mobo's they used to be in died :( but i still have a pentium 4 on a laptop(but actually the laptop version is a turd) I am running right now a pentium M on my t41 laptop, running windows 7, and the pentium M runs better than the pentium 4 laptop, but i heard that pentium m's arcitecture is based off of the pIII with somthing from p4 with slightly more cache and runs faster. correct me if im wrong

I have Pentium 4 2.8Ghz (non-HT), 768MB DDR1 RAM (512MB + 256MB both PC2100), nVidia GeForce FX5500 256MB VRAM, a Samsung IDE HDD 3200RPM 30GB and a WD HDD IDE 3200 80GB, and an ECS P4VMM2 8.1 Motherboard. I tried both XP, Vista and 7. Vista and 7 both boots + login in less than a minute, while XP boots more than a minute. It seems my 5-year-old PC is getting slower on XP.

Crappy card, i also have 6200 256MB version, because its silence version, but nothing more. Before 1 year i also was instaled windows vista on my pc with 6200 , the results was the same as yours, 2.6 score, on intel celeron 2.4Ghz 478 socket ~ overclocked 3Ghz, ram 1GB, but i after some time i change the card from this to geforce fx5700 le, and the results was greater, from 2.6 score to 3 score. On windows 7 no problem with 6200. It is better than fx5700 le , for me.

Also windows 2000 sucked really bad(and 2000 is not buggy like xp, well why is xp only have 3 service packs while 2000 had alot more crap, and blue screened alot, xp is better than 2000(lots of people still use xp) and windows 7 is far better than both xp and vista. Sorry if my opinion offends your likings on 2000 but i don't care

@motorhead45102 Well, you lie, XP is far LESS stable than 2000. You must be talking about Windows ME. Windows 2000 is completely different. And even with 3 Service packs, XP is still buggy. Windows 2000 RTM is more stable!

Does everything run smoothly on Vista? My old and small Dell Dimension 4600c has about the same specs as you, I've got the same graphics card and 1GB of ddr 400. My CPU right now is a P4 2.3ghz, I just ordered a 3.06ghz for just $30 and should arrive in a couple of days.

Is everything in the OS smooth though? I'm talking about multitasking. Opening different applications at the sametime, switching through them, alt tabbing, then exiting them all. And how do games perform?

@FloOFy2 that should run great on vista. I have a 3ghz p4 as an extra machine i mess around running it. On sp2 is solid enough to easily be my primary machine.
