Souliotes and Vlakhoi are two different peoples. Vlakhoi of Metsovon never considered themselves as part of Albania. On the contrary Vlakhoi fled to mountainous parts of Thessalia to escape from Mohetare Pasha and Ali Pasha when the notorious father and son devastated Moscopole.

@oudmourt You are kidding, aren't you? Because no serious scholar ever think about that. Suliotes were pure Albanians and there is no need to repeat thousands of facts. No one has linked ever with Vlachs. Vlachs were present in south-eastern Epirus!!!

@luboteni In a study published in the late nineteenth century by the very serious scholar Caragiani it is proved that their onomastic was typically vlach...Names as Δραχάται, Κασχαράράι, Μαντξάται ( from Suli), Τξιορίται ( from Avaricu), Ήράται ( from Samoniva) etc, etc, etc, etc, are very apparently vlahs. Greek and Albanian deliberately ignore these onomastic evidence, and the Aromanian, who have no real national consciousness, let them do all this for a long time...

@oudmourt I think there is a gap here. There are Vlachic books today, becasue these people fight to preserv their identity in a world that changes fast. Their nouns are all similar to latin. They use Greek and Albanian words but most probably they are glossologically new-latins, romanians.Vlachia is in South Romania no? Romania was created by Roman after defeating Vandals in early ages. The Byzantine Empire had Romilia (west greekstoday greece) and Romania (east latins, today romania) All RUMS

@luboteni Aromanian oral traditions of the nineteenth century that the attested yet Suliotes were Vlach from southern Albania called farsherots. These traditiions also preserved the memory( still rather confused) of the colonization of the area of Suli by Farsherotes (perhaps to between 1350-1400 by a prince named Bagua). The arvanitovlahs/farsherots were all bilingual, and the men spoke more often of the Albanian language: it says they have been regarded by some foreigners as Albanians...

Some Suliots especially after the fall of Suli became Muslims. But it wasn't neither nationalism nor religion they fought for. It was their OWN inique identity. They didn,t want anyone else to rule over them but their OWN tribal leaders. Their language was core Albanian and there is no denying that. Even today the older generation (especially) of the whole region ALL speak this Albanian dialect.  This is living proof.
