Ya know, I was split between getting a Viper GTS or a Porsche 996 turbo but this car is just mean as hell looking. I think I made up my mind. A lot of people don't know that the viper V10 was originally designed by Chrysler but re-engineered by Lamborghini before it went into production. The first 3 all aluminum V10s were cast and hand built by Lamborghini while team viper took notes.
my dad always talks shit on vipers. since a little kid ive loved them. hes a corvette guy. the one thing i love though is the only production corvette to beat a viper, and thats just guessing. i really dont know if it would win against a viper, is the 09 zr1. with a forced induction ls9.
@gotenks137690 on the same hand. for what it is it should be a lot more. 7.9L v10 with less than 450bhp and then a 8.3l v10 with little over 500. same numbers the matching years LS series motors put out in the z06. with a hell of a lot less displacement and 2 less cylinders.
do not get me wrong vipers on incredible, not hating on them at all but like said they should be a lot more than they are

I cant remember who said it, maybe someone from top gear, but it's classic and goes something like this, "Seriously, what are the Americans huffing? An 8 liter v10 engine and it only produces 400 horse power? The 911 GTR produces 530 and it has a 3 liter straight 6 and probably weighs less than half as much! What the hell do American engineers get high on?"
@M1thotyn Whats worse? Getting 450hp (is what the GTS produces) out of 8 liters at a price under $70 new. Or only getting 530hp for around $200k? Not to mention that these engines are basically bullet proof hardly ever having problems.

However, if I am not mistaken the 2012 ZR1 just lapped the "Ring" at a pace of 7:19 and the Dodge Viper ACR lapped it at 7:22.10. These are only bested by the 2010 Porsche 997 GT2 RS ($200k base), the Gumpert Apollo ($550,000) and the Radical SR8LM ($100,000) which is basically a go-cart with huge HP. No Ferrari, Lambo, Aston Martin, Audi, Benz, BMW, Jaguar, or TVR are faster around corners than America
@CTSV4MEE The interesting thing about the nurburing or whatever it's spelled ring is that any car can hit under 9 minutes on it, some chick guest starring on top gear did it in almost 8 mins in a friggin studio van. When car companies boast about their time on that track, it's laughable. The time will be decided by how well the driver knows the track, not by how fast the car is. 100+ turns and not many places where a fast car can even get going, I think 200 yards is the longest flatout distance.

You actually have to push a clutch pedal to shift gears. You can't just point and mash the pedal and let computers do the rest like most European cars. That was a great burnout... to say the least. I love how the car accelerated and then spun around into the burnout. So much smoke was produced too. Burnouts are really an art and whoever the drive of this car, well... he did it beautifully.

That was a great burnout... to say the least. I love how the car accelerated and then spun around into the burnout. So much smoke was produced too. Burnouts are really an art and whoever the drive of this car, well... he did it beautifully.
