"Reducing consumption of natural resources" so what, we're going to lesson the quality of life? I beg to differ, sir, because we are in a race against time, and need to go forward rather than step back. Reactionaries rarely, if ever, achieve victory.
What we need to do is research solutions to help cure CURRENT crisis, and learn how to reach other stars/planets/asteroids whatever. We must NOT relapse, since we can't. It just simply won't work.
Awesome video. Seriously, it is outrageous that no country other than China has a government that even mentions controls on population growth. Not only that but many encourage mindless breeding by providing welfare to those having lots of kids. This creates a reckless circle where people (often those who have low education) breed more to get more money from the system rather than working. And their offspring will be equally mindless and poorly educated, and will in turn just breed for a living
But of course. Politicians who want to get re-elected, should never dare suggest denying parents their God-given right to procreate children. Denying the right to procreate, is but 1 small step from denying the right to live.
If we are so smart, as we fancy ourselves to be, why don't we do a better job building infrastructure and society, to better support vaster and denser pops? You can't just make "too many" people the "enemy," or else where is HUMAN RIGHTS?
@pronatalist There is a limit to what the planet can take. You can't always improve infrastructures to make things always work. And what about the resources? There is a limit to the arable land, a limit to what each piece of land can yield. A limit to how efficient you can make things in order to be sufficient for everyone. And we are approaching that limit. Why not think about what is good for the planet too, instead of focusing on changing it more and more to accommodate us?
How do you know that the "no limits no control" isn't working so well, really? I hear people in other countries, are often just as happy, even though they often lack some of the material stuff that we spoiled Americans seem to think we can't live without.
The pop is rising in many regions, and thus, far more people are experiencing life than before, which I could as a very good thing to encourage.
We aren't approaching "limit," for world is nowhere near full.
@pronatalist How about looking at Africa, where they dont use contraceptives and they are full of HIV and other STDs infections??
How about the fact that they cannot feed the 8-kid that they have on average so that they are dying of starvation despite having lots of natural resources in their lands?
Do you actually read the news or you live in your own utopia?
And as the video explains most areas are inhospitable to humans. Plus there are many other living species that need land too
Natural sex does not spread STDs nor AIDS, when it is the normal monogamous married sex. Surely you know that already, so why do you feign stupidity? If STDs are so rampant, in developed countries where contraceptives are nearly as widespread as candy, then that should raise the question, could the pushing of contraceptives be promoting the promiscuity and immoral behaviors that's spreading the diseases?
Some claim it's the NWO depop vaccines laced with AIDS.
@pronatalist ROFLMAO. And you think humanity will stick to monogamous relations just because they are told they should not use contraceptives?? WAKE UP!
So where does the HIV epidemic in Africa come from? Are they not doing "natural sex"? Are they having sex with artificial robots??
And read the facts from reliable sources rather than "the bible", in third world countries there is serious lack of contraceptives.
Well how many STDs and AIDS did we have, before 1960, the year of "the pill" and the decade of "Free Love?" Why are STDs and AIDS so much more rampant now?
Come on, don't tell me you can't find any "common sense." If, when, sex=babies again, people will just "fool around" so carelessly as they do now? Even those who reject contraceptives for "religious" reasons?
You talk and talk, yet you know nothing but gov or wicked society propaganda. People in developing
@pronatalist STDs have been widespread for a long time. There were simply no ways of detecting. Read the history of people in past centuries dying of syphilis and others. AIDS was "born" in the '70s so OF COURSE nobody had aids in the 60s. Open your eyes to the promiscuity and ask doctors, ask them if you should say no to condoms and just happily trust that humanity will be monogamous and have 1 lifetime partner.
People in developing countries, don't want contraceptives, because they think that it will lead to promiscuity. Looking at the evidence, it appears THEY ARE RIGHT. They associate condoms with "dirty sex," as in prostitution.
They say of poor people that children are their only wealth. Children are "old age security."
I already told you were AIDS came from. From the vaccines. A deliberate NWO depop scheme. You haven't heard theory that AIDS was made in a lab?
So why are the people not developing the resources to benefit their people? Oh, that's right, because we let the NWO greedy corporations sweep in, rape the resources while sharing little if anything with the people, for the greedy U.S. that under fascist and enviro-wacko rule, refuses to develop our own resources when we need the jobs anyway.
So we have to murder the "surplus" poor, to cover for the rampant corruption created by the evil NWO criminal elites?
In the past, women had fewer periods, because pregnancies came more frequently, as family size wasn't something thought to be "uncontrollable." "No limits no control" on natural human pop spread, also has the benefits of avoiding side effects of contraceptives. However, due to the rampant contraceptive pushers, clinics have more contraceptives than they know what to do with, and shortages of basic supplies like clean needles and well-baby-delivery-kits. Absurd!
@pronatalist Yea lets all say no to contraceptives and enjoy the pleasure of STDs! Oh yeah thats wonderful! A nice 30% HIV rate like in Africa, thats what we need!
Let's also enjoy the 12 kids per woman and then YOU pay the welfare for all those kids huh??
Plus, clearly you know nothing about contraceptives. Side effects of condoms?? What are they? And FYI birth control pills highly reduce the risk of various cancers
What gov welfare? Where did I ever say I support gov monopoly corrupt welfare? Charity is supposed to be voluntary. But evil NWO globalist politicians, are working so hard, to destroy the middle class, and make ever more people dependent upon gov, and punishing and taxing productive work, while rewarding irresponsible behavior, and then we have the nerve to wonder why our country is going down the toilet?
Giving them some seeds and a shovel,shouldn't cost much
And have you never heard any of those claims, that all the phony money "printed" to bail out bank-sters, was enough to pretty much solve, most real notable problems in the world? What of that? Pop accommodation is apparently not much a priority in this corrupt world, and I have every right to scold the world for this rampant injustice against our own human kind.
Condom side effects: multiple "failure" modes, dulling of sensation, poor fit, semen backpressure.
That's likely a lie, because any benefits of fake pregnancies, the way that "the pill" tries to fool the body, would also be realized by ACTUAL pregnancies.
And my sister claimed that the pill so messed her up, she didn't know if she would ever be able to have children. Is that personal enough for you, or do you prefer to believe the NWO depop liars?
People give up on contraceptives, not just due to practical and "religious" objections, but due to "problems."
@pronatalist Tell your sister to get information from a doctor rather than a priest. When a person stops with pills, the effect vanishes and most people get pregnant within few months. Also, after 10 years of taking birth control pills, the risk of breast cancer is LOWERED to less than half compared to those not using pills. Ask a doctor if you do not believe. You wont find the answers in the bible.
I will tell my sister no such thing, as I'm already mad at Big Pharma for ripping people off, and their rampant pill pushing. Watch "Big Pharma Ultimate Commercial" on YT. Side effects are greatly UNDER-REPORTED due to your rampant "magic condom" "safer sex" anti-child depop RELIGION.
But of course. The mad scientists engineered AIDS to attack "the tribe of Judah" (poor Negros in Africa).
Pop "control" lies isn't working so well, so evil NWO aims to poison us
@pronatalist Not having a baby isn't "ripping people off". It's saving souls from this well of Hell, and your religion only makes more people starve, more animals suffer and more wars happen. Stop with your inane idiocy and GROW. THE. FUCK. UP! Having children is one of the worst things one can do, especially to the child. Your pro-life propaganda needs to be abolished. Life =/= infinite good. Life is neutral, not a parable state of being. The only poison here is you.
So why did your parents have you as a baby? If babies, according to you, contribute nothing to the world, then why should I assume you contribute anything?
Haven't you heard that when people point the finger of accusation, they often have 3 fingers pointing right back at them? (Just look at the shape of your hand, when you "point" the finger.)
It's YOUR false religion that leads to starving, for you don't want to make way for people
@pronatalist My mother was depressed and my father thought a baby would cheer her up. She went along with it due to the fact she wasn't that young anymore. All it did was pass her misery to me, and I see it behind other's faces and words often. Especially those I love. Having babies is not going to fix ANYTHING. It'll only make things worse. Starvation causes more misery. Not being alive at all in many situations can be better than living.
So why doesn't all the world, just commit suicide?
Don't you have some choice, whether to be be happy or sad, and whether you want to promote truth, or error?
Yes, your false religion promotes suffering and starvation, because you refuse to accept obvious truth, that world does indeed need to grow denser to hold everybody. You don't want to let people have freedom to create more jobs and expand infrastructure, to make way for rising pop.
@pronatal No. Those who endure misery and try to be happy just give themselves a blindfold to the world and refuse to accept that the worls is a POS. More farmers = more food? Wrong. The land creates food via nutrients which circle around animals and plants. We consume more and more and we'll eventually run out and no amount of wishy wash, false religion, God-begging wishes for Star Trek technology will change that. You deserve threats after all the vile filth you've spit out through the years.
Threats are not a valid debating technique, and often is a violation of Terms of Service. It might also be why you feel miserable, for showing people respect, helps you get respect, or at least is the right thing to do.
That's why I do feel miserable and sad at times, because I don't ignore the problems of world, and I really do want to help make things better.
How can I cheer somebody up? I'm not the best counselor. For I'm logical and intellectual, when people need emotion
@pronatalist I showed people respect, and tried to be nice. Half the time it got me sick people or traitorous friends. I have met some nie people though. But yours is a special case. I act the way I do around you because you have spent far too much time on these vile, false, anti-logic, anti-factual ideas that'll torture billions of many different species, humans included.
You act as if I somehow invented the exponential human pop growth curve, and not God, just because I defend how it "must be" or already is. Your own birth, seems to be largely due to the exponential growth, for somebody said, "World pop is barely large enough for you and I to be born."
Are there things you like to do? Read books? Play video games? Hang out with certain type of people? Do you have any hobbies? If so, there's a benefit of living, which expands with more people.
I wasn't saying you are happier when around more people. I presume you would decide. Rather, that if there's more people alive, then there's additional people who also have hobbies and also like living, so more people then benefit.
I'm a natural introvert, so I like a balance. I like to be around some other people I know, sometimes, and I like my alone time too.
Does vgman mean you are vegan? Why? Can you agree with my objection to pollution of the body by contraceptives?
I mainly care about people, because that's who my Bible says I'm supposed to care about. That I am human, also has a lot of relevance, as I think it natural and proper to be concerned about my own human kind.
I see it as completely natural and proper, the natural tendency of relatively cheap biomatter (food) to gradually turn into ever more human bodies. I have no objection the natural spread of human life, as the more populous we grow, the more people there are who benefit.
Did you really expect for people to return your kindness? Don't you know that people are selfish and sinful? Some might return your kindness, and some people are just evil. You just can't get by through this world, living for man's praise alone. Without a Godly perspective, it can be all the harder to make it.
When I say there is something beautiful about watching world pop naturally BLOSSOM in size, don't you think maybe I'm seeing something more than you? God's perspective?
Do you think I just had a happy childhood, and no problems at all? I was just born with a "silver spoon" in my mouth or something?
My parents divorced when I was young. Do you think that was fun? I suspect it was part of that huge epidemic of divorces that came soon after "the pill." Since man (and femi-nazis) started weaving fancy excuses for profaning the procreative nature of sex. I think Dad disrespected Mom and didn't listen to her. Overstressed from work, lack of faith.
Ever think about why there's so much violence in video games? Is it just that video games are evil influences, like the moralists opine who never play video games anyway?
Isn't it more likely, that people feel stressed and insecure, and that such video games are an escape from reality, and guys like to "practice" their "warrior skills," just in case they might someday need them?
Of course one huge flaw is, in real life, there's no instant reloading from the last quick save.
A book caught my eye, some time ago at the bookstore. EMERGENCY by Neil Strauss. I read the entire book, because he had realized some time ago, that U.S. was crap, about to be destroyed from within or by gov or whatever, and reacted like a crazed survivalist. Took every "when the stuff hits the fan" preparedness course he could, went and got his 2nd citizenship and passport, so he would be ready. But I was impressed that as he became an emergency worker rescuer, he worried less
Spoiler alert: The paperback book, looks like a red fire alarm pull handle. I was do disappointed at the end, when after getting him a place and citizenship on St. Kitts island, he stayed in California as an emergency worker. I was hoping he would complete his escape from the evil American empire.
I lent it to a friend, who probably didn't really read it, who opined that Neil made it all up to sell books. Some people are just so into their American brainwashing, they can't see
Less people, means less food to feed people. Less farmers, less food storage. People are lazy. Who's going to store away food to last centuries? If they can't eat it nor sell it soon, why bother to produce it? Besides, there's costs to farming, bills that have to be paid, well unless you do all hand labor and build all your own tools?
Don't threaten me. Besides, that's the sign of a weak argument
Pro-life is a great cause, for how can you have any rights, without right to life?
I don't know what tiny loaves you are talking about, but a standard 24 ounce loaf of bread, can feed 5 people. Gee, how many sandwiches do you really need?
So what are you saying anyway? Your mother doesn't love you? She wishes she had fewer children?
Do you have any brothers or sisters, or do you wish you were an only child?
Sometimes I feel sad and miserable, but it isn't because I don't want to live. Of course I like living. I just think things through, and pray a lot.
@pronatalist It can feed 5 people for how long? That is the question. You need THOUSANDS of meals for long-term survival, and that's not including water, heating and shelter. I'm an only child, so I never had siblings. And my mother loves me, but I have been miserable for years, partly because of her own character flaws and overly conservative (in practice, not attitude) reactions to my attempts to talk to specific people.
If denying the right to have babies isn't "ripping people off," then what rights do people have? Just whatever rights a corrupt Big Brother gov, deems they have? Perhaps none at all?
How is letting human life spread, unkind to the child? What kind of life can a child live, if they aren't alive at all?
If life is neutral, as you falsely claim, why do you make the effort to get out of bed and go to work? What do you care, since life doesn't matter? No food in your home? So what?
@pronatalist MY "religion" causes people to starve? Less people means more food for all. A loaf of bread can feed 1 person for one meal. It isn't more than a bite for 5. Also, don't give me that childish finger analogy or you won't have any fingers to be pointing back. Kapish? It's sad to see such a fervent person like yourself be so messed up. Your resolve could've been used for good causes.
We have the right to hunt or "cull" surplus animals, because God gave dominion over nature and other creatures, to man. Genesis 1: 26, and animals do NOT have "human rights."
The power of reproduction is so potent, it can change the ecology of the entire planet. It must be morally controlled by a higher power. For animals, people serve that role, even Bible verse says so. For people, God clearly commanded people to Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.
Sorry, I mean that family size WAS thought to be "uncontrollable." People had "issue" or "natural increase" of children, as if God was handing out the babies liberally.
Why not think about what is good for the planet too? What? Does the planet even care or can be aware of anything? Nature wants people multiplying, no matter our number is so "huge," for in nature, life spreads into most every niche it can, so why not all the more so,with intelligent human life?
Nature is resilient. I see the grass and weeds coming up in the pavement cracks. You know nature would soon take it all back, if it wasn't for humans around to benefit and alter nature for our needs. The world can far more easily bear the rising human pop "pressure," than people can be expected to struggle against nature to "control" our fertility.
Most all jobs, are really for expanding human pop, for most all productive jobs alter nature to serve more people
@pronatalist Oh yeah so resilient in fact look at Africa. How well they live with the HIV epidemic and kids starving all over the place. Get out of your tiny hole and look at reality! You are day dreaming!
Whatever happened to the supposed "choice" (to not have children)? If it ever was a "choice," then surely we still have choice to have "unlimited" children or welcome "all the children God gives." Whatever happened to the "option" to use the nasty contraceptives, or NOT? Isn't the "no method" method, still a valid option? Much of world pop still rejects use of "birth control." I reject both pop "control" and "birth control," as anti-life and contrary-to-nature.
@pronatalist Well it seems the no limits no control isn't working too well in many parts of the world. Humans are very quick at killing other animals when they reproduce too fast or when they are inconvenient for the environment or for the human species. But they think they have the right to use the planet as much as they please just to keep their freedom to breed.
they should start to make you pay to have more than one kid then it would put people off and you could still have as many kids as you want so everyone happy
The world needs to do something.They changed the birth rate in China.They need to do it with Africa too.But it wont happen and the white people will suffer.We will be slaves.No one is trying to somethin with them..
@DCfreak87 You are correct that all population estimates are just that--estimates based on projections. We cannot know exactly how many people are on earth. We can only use the data available and make the most educated assumptions.
I think serious policies need to be implemented. I would issue one child policy across europe,africa,middleeast,asia,americas etc. The quality of life for billions of people is shoking. i prefer small population=highter quality of life that large population=poor quality of life.
@ HenrSo whats wrong with living healthier longer lives? You have two options; Increase death rate or reduce birth rates, which is better? Today countries with the LOWEST life expectancy have the HIGHEST population growth while "healthy" countries like those in Europe and Japan have so much access to health yet some of their birth rates are below the replacement line. Clearly today pop growth is not related to Longer life, but rather, lack of access to contraception, Edu, and such.
The solution to this is to increase global access to contraception, family planning, empowerment to women around the world. To increase the carrying capacity of the Earth, things like Energy, Agriculture will need to be improved, Fossil fuels as you should know are finite, thankfully solar, wind geothermal have been under development had have made a lot of progress. You may also want to check out "Vertical Farming" or "Plant Lab" this method could eliminate h2o required for farming by 70-90%
Why do you present a false choice? We need to neither increase death rate, nor reduce birthrate. Why is the best, 3rd choice, shunned or censored? Let births greatly outpace deaths, for pop accumulation is already occurring. It's the very best option, because it answers important questions like How can we enjoy having our precious darling babies in a world of so many people alive already? Simple. Allow world pop density to rise naturally. Let babies come out freely
The option of "doing nothing," or "not resisting" was explored in an episode of Star Trek TNG "Time Squared." When a mysterious vortex appeared in outer space, and tugged on the Enterprise spaceship, they fought the pull, which only tightened its grip. Eventually Enterprise was destroyed. Captain Piccard escaped, thrown back in time 6 hours, Piccard pulled "other option" from his clone. Don't resist. Passed through vortex okay. Don't resist pop growth pull, embrace
What? Babies are cute? What more reason do we need? Don't stop, keep having lots of babies people!! Because they are so cute!! Let China grow crazy over there. But aren't you confusing the animation with reality? China's growth rate is far slower than it ought to be, no thanks to their evil 1-child tyranny. Commie chairman Mao advocated pop growth, for a large and growing pop would make China strong. Maybe, maybe not. But at least it would allow more people to live
Tell the Duggards this...they are expecting their- 20th- child this April..."Its the will of God". Come on people, this is 2011 and we have hit the 7 billion mark in population. People are living longer than ever. My FIL is pushing 100. More people are making it to 90 then ever before. We have to make changes..soe how. Slow it down. 5 people are born for every 2 that die.
We have to make changes? Okay, how about more free enterprise. Let's fire the corrupt politicians and slash taxes, so that jobs and local manufacturing will be plentiful again. More indoor toilets and electricity for developing countries. Replace millions of smokey cooking fires in growing cities, with clean natural gas, propane, or electric cooking.
No need to slow it down. Pop-driven technologies helps us ADAPT to natural pop rise, grow DENSER where it may be needed
@uncballer28 Most governments conduct a census every ten years or so. The Demographic and Health Surveys are used in many developing countries as well. We know roughly how many babies are born in each country each year. Many countries with rapidly growing populations have policies that encourage family planning, but can't afford to provide universal access to contraceptive services. Donor countries like the United States can help by funding voluntary family planning programs.
@cutepiku yes but there is a direct relationship between the level of a woman's education and the number of children she has. If you are not going to school and are married off at 15, you are likely to have more children in your lifetime and a woman who is college educated and dosen't start reproducing untill she is much older. while educating men is also important, I am not aware of any direct relationship between men's education levels and their reproduction rates.
So "education" then is harmful to people? Something is wrong with our (secular) "education," if it so sharply reduces birthrates. Shouldn't education be to help us multiply, more comfortably and safely as we accommodate our natural increase, all the better?
These days, people spend so many endless years getting "educated," that they are well old enough to be married even before graduation or diploma. Therefore, we be more understanding of married students visibly pregnant
Hey, there was a guy called Malthus who came up with a really great solution to population growth--just make streets really close together so that disease will spread quickly amongst poor people. BOOM! You're welcome.
So this really "brilliant" Malthus, proposed that we kill people, so that they don't die?
I agree that the poor should be welcome to go right on reproducing, in "overcrowded" conditions, but oppose imposing such conditions. Denser pops would help fit a whole lot more people into the world. But I'm talking on the global scale, letting people spread out wherever they can. Imposing high local density is evil, for what if it increasing takes entire planet to hold us all?
Malthus may have been wrong on that theory too, as modern sanitation and other means, may make even very dense living, more safe and possible?
So his theory may already be backfiring, for even the "natural" methods of "birth control," perhaps don't work anymore, when people grow so dense, there is no privacy for sex. How can they do rhythm or "pulling out," when they hear or see others having sex?
Regions with the least room for more people, now have the most babies?
If the population needs to be lowered, there are two options: 1. Increase death rate 2. Decrease birth rate. Obviously, 2 is preferable. This does NOT necessary mean laws regulating family production. In my opinion, there would be greater impact in educating women in developing nations. Educated women have less children, can afford to care for them well, and usually send them to school. Empower the women.
@TheIxtlan Pretty sure the ancient Hebrews didn't ever think of a scenario in which 7 billion of them would be living on God's glorious creation and destroying it from overpopulation. If you love the Creator, take care of Creation.
You must not know much about the ancient Hebrews then. Didn't you know that most all religions promote naturally large families?
I heard, that in Israel, they take God's promise seriously that God would multiply Abraham's descendents, to be as uncountable as the dust, grains of sand on the seashore, or stars of the sky. So large families are cool.
Genesis 24: 60 in the KJV, foretold today's "burgeoning billions" as "thousands of millions."
Ancient Hebrews didn't practice "birth control." The midwives in Exodus lied and refused to kill the babies that the king ordered, claiming that the Hebrews are vigorous, the babies came before the midwife could even get there. And even today, isn't Israel of high population density, compared to the global average? 7 million+ people in such a tiny land mass of modern Israel, far smaller than Israel was originally.
Israel turned desert into green, but Hebrews MULTIPLY.
@Mike0Powell Standing room isn't really the issue. We also need land to grow food and absorb our waste (including trees to absorb carbon emissions). We're not the only beings on this planet--wildlife needs a home as well. There are countless social and health issues related to population growth as well--the problems aren't all environmental in nature.
@populationconnection Exponential population growth is a real concern tied to the expansion of the economic means so it it a fact that it will all end one day' Unless we all take a role in government first by offering a steriization subsidy' but then we have the ignorance of religious beliefs'
The makeup of the video itself is irritating... THEN you add the friggin' heartbeat, WTF! i got to 4 min. and said enough! I'm 100% on your side, but this sucks..
Gee, doesn't anybody understand the symbolism of the "heartbeat" sound? I think it represents the natural spread of human life, and then picks up speed, as supposedly the human race suddenly starts to grow "way too abundant."
Anyway, they used a heartbeat sound, in that ridiculous anti-pop episode of Star Trek TOS, "The Mark of Gideon," to represent the swollen crowd of humanity pressing against the fake model of the spaceship, so the heartbeat sound represents human life.
Does population connection also believe that abortion is an "acceptable" way to improve quality of life here on earth? It is an effective method used in China choosing only the male babies and aborting the female babies. Fertility rates did not only drop quickly. Fertility was lost. A generation of women were lost.
@rowelr Population Connection is a pro-choice organization because abortion is part of the package of comprehensive reproductive health services for women. We do not condone any sort of coercion like what has been done in China. We view abortion as a private health matter between a woman and her doctor. Family planning should be emphasized, with abortion available in cases where it fails.
@TenthAmendmentIssues There's a reason why the black areas on the map are less populated. They are mostly inhospitable to humans (dessert, tundra, etc.) and present challenges to growing food that are too great. This is why statements such as "we can all fit in Australia or Texas" are so misguided. Arable land is a much more relevant measure of available land than land in general.
Actually,what we are going to do I have been writing to everybody;U.N. world hunger organization, the president; what we'll do is grow our crops on boats in the dead zones of the sea. On aircraft carrier sized ships which will create world cooling shadows . We can end cruel non-nutritive factory-style farming, save water with built in watering systems and sea surface rain gathering, and build artificial islands,first for the workers, then to preserve the beauty of natural open spaces.
Actually,what we are really going to do is grow our crops on aircrarft carrier sized boats in the ded zones of the sea. This will conserve land, give us a new place to gather water, allow us to conserve water with to-the-roots watering systems, create shadows in the sea thus contributing to the end of global warming,allow us to grow huge fuel supplies which triply end global warming with forest conservation, clean fuel and ocean shadows; and we can build artificial islands.
Nice video, thanks. I arrived here from a link at VHEMT dot org. Lots of great quotables there, such as: "in terms of energy consumption, when a North American couple stops at two it’s about the same as an average East Indian couple stopping at 30, or a Bangaledesh couple stopping at 97." So much for the popular 'it's the fault of all those ignorant breeders' argument...
Cool video, but not entirely accurate. According to them, there's nobody living in Canada... the worlds 2nd biggest country... even in 2030. And people only live in one spot in all of Russia. Really guys?
@goodguys9 As explained at the beginning of the video, dots represent one million people and are placed in the middle of where those million people live. You'll see that the dots in Canada are concentrated along the U.S. border, where most people live, and the dots in Russia are concentrated in the cities.
We need to improve education in every country and help women's rights. Women need contraceptives, men need to be educated, and abortion needs to be legalized worldwide (and all that silly controversy over the fetus can be explained with thorough and clear science, which proves there's nothing to harm). Only then will world hunger fall and the rate of exinctions slow.
We won't have to worry about population for long at this rate. Guess how populations have been curbed for millenia? Through disease, wars and natural disasters. All three are on the rise. Who knows, by 2030 we may me left with only a few little white dots.
1) Although the smallest portion of the population farm ever, we are also more productive than ever. We are using less land to feed more people. This is why our population grew so fast lately. Food shortage is not a problem. The current food shortage is more of political issues.
2) Population is not going to grow forever. It's already slowing down. As countries developed, family size shrink. Many countries are in fact facing population shrinking problem.
@tuzzer actually, if you subtract the average number of people who die every second from the average who are born, that is still about 2.4 people born every second.
SEE!! futureofmankind.co.uk/Billy_Meier/Special:Petition here's a petition that has been sent to every single government in the world, all major NGO's dealing with population and development, to US Ambassadors in every Nation, to President Obama, to Vice-President Biden, and to Secretary of State Clinton...everyone! And here it's to you!
@bfx596 = you are kidding. I love our Tasmanian states beers like Cascade and Boags. Crown is pretty good....but dude....have you ever drunk Victoria Bitter, Southark or Fosters......if not...then go and fill up a bucket of water, walk 40 miles in hot weather and come home and soak your feet in that bucket without taking your socks off and drink the end result. You will get the idea.
@ScorpioNQueeN195 Just wait until one of India's main water supplies runs out in about 15 years as is predicted. Mass migrations are going to start wars with China and Pakistan over resources. Europe and to an extent the US will take in hoards of refugies out of the goodness of their hearts which will create a lot of social tensions when liberal Europe and somewhat liberal America, is faced with very conservative ways of thinking. It's a tinderbox waiting to happen.
@hop208 Not that Europe can really say no. There have been cases of Afghans traveling on foot from Afghanistan to France since the wars started. The West is going to have to face facts that the way we consume energy or the methods of production are going to have to change. China already has its eyes on the Middle Eastern oil market and don't think they can't outbid us to get it. The West is surviving on credit cards alone while China is rolling in actual money.
@thedodger2x Large scale desalination plants and the amount of infrastructure needed to make the water available to the public would cost billions of dollars and the construction would need to start immediately. Not only that, but with the current technology to separate the salt and other impurities form the water isn't sustainable on that scale. All current large scale desalination plants (like in Dubai) run on massive amounts of oil. Indian oil consumption would go up dramatically.
@hop208 Let's plan for success and look at another desalinization plant, one built in Israel (Ashkelon Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Plant ). The cost was much less at $212M. The plant's energy requirements is taken from a cleaner source, that is, natural gas to power turbine engines and not oil reserves. It is backed up by the national grid of Israel. It provides 13% of the country's consumer water demand. It has been sustaining operation since 2006. Let's keep pursuing this technology.
@hop208 My view is himalayas will provide future fresh water for south asia for a long time as they have a LOT of water up there so no soon water crysis I suppose
the human race is doomed to fail because smarter and more educated people don't have babies and therefore don't pass on genes. We will de-evolutionize in about 100 years
I read that someone said that water is important. True, so true. It's strange you know, because I'm Dutch and I live in the Netherlands and here we use drinking water for everything, for the shower, washing our dishes. Disturbing, especially when you know that almost every country in Africa doesn't have enough water.
I think Population is on a verge of a plateau. The increase is no prediction of future population. But anyway, it is a good excuse not to quite smoking.
i got an idea , the world should get more education about this problem so they understand wat happens to the world, and to live the same with healthy life and soicety like others. if this happens , it will help animals to get more space and food , and balance ower comsomtion of earths resouces
@victormgv i agree with ur idea cas y should people pass laws to lower population .they should make an oath or peach to live in comefort and pleasure. cas soon the world will go to war to fight for food , water, and resources
if there's no population control of some sort, the dots will eventually fill up not just the dark areas (a.k.a land), but the entire ocean will be filled with people living on permanent floating platforms
Listen to me! You have to tell them! It's people! It's made out of people. (Food problem solved)
But seriously, there are major discrepancies with the progression of this chart. If 1 dot= 1,000,000 then, I would like to know why it shows 2 dots in North freaking Dakota? Also, there are entire regions of China that are uninhabited except by nomadic herders, and there are parts of the desert they won't even go. Just saying- don't believe it just because it's on the internet.
@ianripken Actually, the guy said that dots will increase outward to show accurately the population on the edges. Also, ND has 2 freakin dots cuz the dots can also show the population of a big area by being placed in the middle of it.
@victormgv I agree with you and there is more to that statement; read this blog...rabbithole123.blogspot.com, this explains social physics and the roots to economics etc.
Efforts to curb population by neglecting foreign aid would be both immoral and unsound. If families do not get food, they aren't just going to sit on the corner and die. In many cases they will then depend on subsistence farming, which incents having MORE children for farm labor. Without technology investment, substinence farming is inefficient which means a stagnate agricultural market, which means even more people have to grow their own food, which means even more people have more children.
Then without health services child rearing becomes less predictable, which - on top of the lack of food perpetuated by a reduction in aid - makes parents trust less in the survival in their children, which could lead to them compensating for that fact by having even more children. Alternatively, health services provide access to condoms and birth control, which prevent the cheapest form of pleasure from producing more children. Without education and infrastructure... you get my point, I hope.
God created enough for his kids. It is the 5% that control 95% of the resources that has us feeling that there is not enough to go around. I do believe that all of us, even the 5% need to cut back on waste. Lets harness the power of each living soul. Educate and give freedom. WOW then watch all the good that happens....
I had the opportunity to can beans for a humanitarian project that my church does. About 30 people and automation canned enough beans to feed thousands within 5 hours. There is plenty for every one, the problem is that the few that has plenty want to keep it to themselves. Jesus took two loafs of bread and some fish and fed a multitude (If i remember right it was about 5,000). Have faith and keep helping others and get out of your small thinking drivin by many kinds of fears. God bless...
I do have to tell you that the population cannot grow forever. If I ever get to have any kids, I won't have more than two biological ones. I think there are enough people in this world alive already. I want you to think of this: if the population got too big, there wouldn't be enough room for everybody to have a home, not everybody would get to eat anything, a lot more things would probably go to waste, global warming would continue to get worse without energy alternatives, etc.
I blame Obama's message and other charities who want to spread the wealth around by giving nations our wealth. Why go help Africa, Asia, and South America when all they know how to do is mass produce their population. It's like giving a roach a few bread crumbs and one day you will see one but the next you will see 2, and so on and so on. Then you have a whole society begging for your crumbs. Pathetic system we live in and I blame the governments for this problem.
Hm. the real problem is our economic system that rewards short term gain and zero responsiblity for the environment and makes corporations pollute and try to push the work and cost of cleaning up on to a state that is robbed blind by centralbanks. All money supply is based on money that is lent into existence, which means society pays interest on ALL activity instead of accumulating ability to create new work and new research. a small elite of bank owners just pocket all of society's gains.
im 18 an im not gonna have kids untill ive finished getting a good education,and untill im financially stable,i think the cycle of kids having kids soon as they leave school is sad,to then be stuck in a struggle for the rest of there lives.i think everyone should try an be all they can before settling down,personally im kinda of scared of the idea of being a dad,an im certainly in no rush.8 )
I'm 18 too, and the thought of having kids right now is terrifying. Before modern medicine, people had more kids because they had smaller chances of living to adulthood, but that's certainly changed in most parts of the world. My AP Human geography teacher showed our class this video, it scares me: It's so chilling how much the population of the world has sky-rocketed in only the last couple hundred years.
It's simple - reduce population growth in the main areas: China (already implemented), Asia, Africa, Coastal South America, Central America and - WAIT FOR IT - EUROPE AND USA. Despite the belief that there are 'better' people in various continents, the consumers of most of the world's resources are in the developed countries in Europe and Nth America, The video shows how Europe and the USA have as much responsibility as the standard of living is higher so the impact on resources increases.
If the Catholic Church endorsed condom use in Africa.....instead of it's current position of the complete opposite......it would go a long way to helping matters. Unless of course it has a different agenda.....but that is one for the conspiracy theorists.
I have an idea: Boycott charities. BAM half the world's population drop like flies.
No donations, no foreign aid = population drops. Thats the only reason Africa's population is exploding is because we're giving them too many handouts.
Actually, Africa could use a lot more foreign aid, in the form of family planning assistance. Women there want to have fewer children but don't have access to safe and affordable birth control. Where contraception is available, fertility rates almost always drop quickly.
Population Connection does not believe that eliminating existing people from the planet is an acceptable or effective way to improve the quality of life here on earth (hard to have a good quality of life when you're dead).
@populationconnection Why do they need handouts of contraceptive devices or drugs? Why not try self control? Failing that, there's the rhythm method. The rhythm method is not completely reliable for individuals but over a large population would make an incredible difference
They don't need handouts of shoddy contraceptive devices or drugs. Thanks for helping me make that point. Yes, there's self-control and rhythm. But not so simple as you think.
Catholics in Western countries might be able to make rhythm work, somewhat? But in poor countries, they all sleep in one room, there's no room for separate beds for husband and wife, so father gets erection, there's no hiding it, she's right there, and they copulate during most fertile time of month too.
"Pulling out" doesn't work so well either, for each drop of precum can contain 50,000 sperm. Often there's more than a few drops, that ooze out long before ejaculation. But at least those methods are free for the populous masses. Now I don't need to explain why the "no sex" method doesn't work for married couples feeling very horny during the long nights without electricity?
Contraceptives have side effects. Condoms have poor fit, sensation dulling, semen back-pressure, awkward
Do you see where I am going with this? The most natural "method" of "family planning," is the "no method" method. Welcoming human pops everywhere to freely expand "unchecked." What could be a more natural means of "birth spacing" than an already occupied womb?
More and more people would be glad to live, so let world pop density rise naturally, unhindered, helping it along, remind people that naturally large families are a perfectly acceptable and pro-life option. Enjoy coitus.
@JonaBay african people dont benefit most of the donations...none of developed countries bring their technology or know-how to those countries... like they say '' dont give me a fish, teach me how to fish''
This has been flagged as spam show
HA HA HA HA HA HOW NICE TELL THIS TO ARABS AFRICANS AND CHINESE MAKE THEM MAKE LESS KIDS LIKE 3 NOT 8 OR 14 THAT WOULD BE THE BEST LAUGH EVER .

PatrioticPoison 2 weeks ago
Awesome video. Seriously, it is outrageous that no country other than China has a government that even mentions controls on population growth. Not only that but many encourage mindless breeding by providing welfare to those having lots of kids. This creates a reckless circle where people (often those who have low education) breed more to get more money from the system rather than working. And their offspring will be equally mindless and poorly educated, and will in turn just breed for a living
GonzifyYourself 2 weeks ago
@GonzifyYourself
You can't just make "too many" people the "enemy," or else where is HUMAN RIGHTS?
pronatalist 1 week ago
@pronatalist There is a limit to what the planet can take. You can't always improve infrastructures to make things always work. And what about the resources? There is a limit to the arable land, a limit to what each piece of land can yield. A limit to how efficient you can make things in order to be sufficient for everyone. And we are approaching that limit. Why not think about what is good for the planet too, instead of focusing on changing it more and more to accommodate us?
GonzifyYourself 1 week ago
@GonzifyYourself

@GonzifyYourself
Some claim it's the NWO depop vaccines laced with AIDS.
pronatalist 1 week ago
@pronatalist ROFLMAO. And you think humanity will stick to monogamous relations just because they are told they should not use contraceptives?? WAKE UP!
So where does the HIV epidemic in Africa come from? Are they not doing "natural sex"? Are they having sex with artificial robots??
And read the facts from reliable sources rather than "the bible", in third world countries there is serious lack of contraceptives.
GonzifyYourself 1 week ago
@GonzifyYourself
People in developing
pronatalist 1 week ago
@pronatalist STDs have been widespread for a long time. There were simply no ways of detecting. Read the history of people in past centuries dying of syphilis and others. AIDS was "born" in the '70s so OF COURSE nobody had aids in the 60s. Open your eyes to the promiscuity and ask doctors, ask them if you should say no to condoms and just happily trust that humanity will be monogamous and have 1 lifetime partner.
GonzifyYourself 1 week ago
@GonzifyYourself
You haven't heard theory that AIDS was made in a lab?
pronatalist 1 week ago
@GonzifyYourself
So we have to murder the "surplus" poor, to cover for the rampant corruption created by the evil NWO criminal elites?
pronatalist 1 week ago
@GonzifyYourself
Absurd!
pronatalist 1 week ago
@pronatalist Yea lets all say no to contraceptives and enjoy the pleasure of STDs! Oh yeah thats wonderful! A nice 30% HIV rate like in Africa, thats what we need!
Let's also enjoy the 12 kids per woman and then YOU pay the welfare for all those kids huh??
Plus, clearly you know nothing about contraceptives. Side effects of condoms?? What are they? And FYI birth control pills highly reduce the risk of various cancers
GonzifyYourself 1 week ago
@GonzifyYourself
Giving them some seeds and a shovel,shouldn't cost much
pronatalist 1 week ago
@GonzifyYourself
Condom side effects: multiple "failure" modes, dulling of sensation, poor fit, semen backpressure.
pronatalist 1 week ago
@GonzifyYourself
People give up on contraceptives, not just due to practical and "religious" objections, but due to "problems."
pronatalist 1 week ago
@pronatalist Tell your sister to get information from a doctor rather than a priest. When a person stops with pills, the effect vanishes and most people get pregnant within few months. Also, after 10 years of taking birth control pills, the risk of breast cancer is LOWERED to less than half compared to those not using pills. Ask a doctor if you do not believe. You wont find the answers in the bible.
GonzifyYourself 1 week ago
@GonzifyYourself
Pop "control" lies isn't working so well, so evil NWO aims to poison us
pronatalist 1 week ago
@pronatalist Not having a baby isn't "ripping people off". It's saving souls from this well of Hell, and your religion only makes more people starve, more animals suffer and more wars happen. Stop with your inane idiocy and GROW. THE. FUCK. UP! Having children is one of the worst things one can do, especially to the child. Your pro-life propaganda needs to be abolished. Life =/= infinite good. Life is neutral, not a parable state of being. The only poison here is you.
vgman94 3 days ago
@vgman94
There you go, bashing my religion, again?
So why did your parents have you as a baby? If babies, according to you, contribute nothing to the world, then why should I assume you contribute anything?
Haven't you heard that when people point the finger of accusation, they often have 3 fingers pointing right back at them? (Just look at the shape of your hand, when you "point" the finger.)
It's YOUR false religion that leads to starving, for you don't want to make way for people
pronatalist 2 days ago
@pronatalist My mother was depressed and my father thought a baby would cheer her up. She went along with it due to the fact she wasn't that young anymore. All it did was pass her misery to me, and I see it behind other's faces and words often. Especially those I love. Having babies is not going to fix ANYTHING. It'll only make things worse. Starvation causes more misery. Not being alive at all in many situations can be better than living.

@vgman94
So do you wish you had never been born?
So why doesn't all the world, just commit suicide?
Don't you have some choice, whether to be be happy or sad, and whether you want to promote truth, or error?
Yes, your false religion promotes suffering and starvation, because you refuse to accept obvious truth, that world does indeed need to grow denser to hold everybody. You don't want to let people have freedom to create more jobs and expand infrastructure, to make way for rising pop.
pronatalist 2 days ago
@pronatal No. Those who endure misery and try to be happy just give themselves a blindfold to the world and refuse to accept that the worls is a POS. More farmers = more food? Wrong. The land creates food via nutrients which circle around animals and plants. We consume more and more and we'll eventually run out and no amount of wishy wash, false religion, God-begging wishes for Star Trek technology will change that. You deserve threats after all the vile filth you've spit out through the years.
vgman94 2 days ago
@vgman94
For I'm logical and intellectual, when people need emotion
pronatalist 2 days ago
@pronatalist I showed people respect, and tried to be nice. Half the time it got me sick people or traitorous friends. I have met some nie people though. But yours is a special case. vgman94 2 days ago
@vgman94
If so, there's a benefit of living, which expands with more people.
pronatalist 2 days ago
@vgman94
Why? Can you agree with my objection to pollution of the body by contraceptives?
pronatalist 2 days ago
@vgman94
I have no objection the natural spread of human life, as the more populous we grow, the more people there are who benefit.
pronatalist 2 days ago
@vgman94

But I was impressed that as he became an emergency worker rescuer, he worried less
pronatalist 2 days ago
@vgman94
Some people are just so into their American brainwashing, they can't see
pronatalist 2 days ago
@vgman94
Pro-life is a great cause, for how can you have any rights, without right to life?
pronatalist 2 days ago
@vgman94
I just think things through, and pray a lot.
pronatalist 2 days ago
@pronatalist It can feed 5 people for how long? That is the question. You need THOUSANDS of meals for long-term survival, and that's not including water, heating and shelter. I'm an only child, so I never had siblings. And my mother loves me, but I have been miserable for years, partly because of her own character flaws and overly conservative (in practice, not attitude) reactions to my attempts to talk to specific people.
vgman94 2 days ago
@vgman94
So what?
pronatalist 2 days ago
@pronatalist MY "religion" causes people to starve? Less people means more food for all. A loaf of bread can feed 1 person for one meal. It isn't more than a bite for 5. Also, don't give me that childish finger analogy or you won't have any fingers to be pointing back. Kapish? It's sad to see such a fervent person like yourself be so messed up. Your resolve could've been used for good causes.

@GonzifyYourself
For people, God clearly commanded people to Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.
pronatalist 1 week ago
@GonzifyYourself
Sorry, I mean that family size WAS thought to be "uncontrollable." People had "issue" or "natural increase" of children, as if God was handing out the babies liberally.
Why not think about what is good for the planet too? What? Does the planet even care or can be aware of anything? Nature wants people multiplying, no matter our number is so "huge," for in nature, life spreads into most every niche it can, so why not all the more so,with intelligent human life?
pronatalist 1 week ago
@GonzifyYourself

Much of world pop still rejects use of "birth control." I reject both pop "control" and "birth control," as anti-life and contrary-to-nature.
pronatalist 1 week ago
@pronatalist Well it seems the no limits no control isn't working too well in many parts of the world. Humans are very quick at killing other animals when they reproduce too fast or when they are inconvenient for the environment or for the human species. But they think they have the right to use the planet as much as they please just to keep their freedom to breed.

aminah487 1 month ago
@ HenrSo whats wrong with living healthier longer lives? You have two options; Increase death rate or reduce birth rates, which is better? Today countries with the LOWEST life expectancy have the HIGHEST population growth while "healthy" countries like those in Europe and Japan have so much access to health yet some of their birth rates are below the replacement line. Clearly today pop growth is not related to Longer life, but rather, lack of access to contraception, Edu, and such.
curingaging00 1 month ago
The solution to this is to increase global access to contraception, family planning, empowerment to women around the world. To increase the carrying capacity of the Earth, things like Energy, Agriculture will need to be improved, Fossil fuels as you should know are finite, thankfully solar, wind geothermal have been under development had have made a lot of progress. You may also want to check out "Vertical Farming" or "Plant Lab" this method could eliminate h2o required for farming by 70-90%
curingaging00 1 month ago
@curingaging00

Don't resist pop growth pull, embrace

should be as simple as having the government monitor how many babies are being born
uncballer28 3 months ago
@uncballer28 Most governments conduct a census every ten years or so. The Demographic and Health Surveys are used in many developing countries as well. We know roughly how many babies are born in each country each year. Many countries with rapidly growing populations have policies that encourage family planning, but can't afford to provide universal access to contraceptive services. Donor countries like the United States can help by funding voluntary family planning programs.

@cutepiku yes but there is a direct relationship between the level of a woman's education and the number of children she has. If you are not going to school and are married off at 15, you are likely to have more children in your lifetime and a woman who is college educated and dosen't start reproducing untill she is much older. while educating men is also important, I am not aware of any direct relationship between men's education levels and their reproduction rates.
nerdmomma 3 months ago
@nerdmomma

BOOM! You're welcome.
bendoublett 3 months ago
@bendoublett
Imposing high local density is evil, for what if it increasing takes entire planet to hold us all?
pronatalist 1 month ago
@bendoublett
Regions with the least room for more people, now have the most babies?
pronatalist 1 month ago
If the population needs to be lowered, there are two options: 1. Increase death rate 2. Decrease birth rate. Obviously, 2 is preferable. This does NOT necessary mean laws regulating family production. In my opinion, there would be greater impact in educating women in developing nations. Educated women have less children, can afford to care for them well, and usually send them to school. Empower the women.

@TallyWolfeh
Welcome God's blessings.
pronatalist 1 month ago
@TallyWolfeh

@DCfreak87 - They say 3 babies are born every second, the population is growing wildly, I don't think
anyone knows how many people there are anymore, the more the population grows the harder to keep

areas that no one cares about, humans are procreating more than ever because we are more than ever,

Does population connection also believe that abortion is an "acceptable" way to improve quality of life here on earth? It is an effective method used in China choosing only the male babies and aborting the female babies. Fertility rates did not only drop quickly. Fertility was lost. A generation of women were lost.
rowelr 6 months ago
@rowelr Population Connection is a pro-choice organization because abortion is part of the package of comprehensive reproductive health services for women. We do not condone any sort of coercion like what has been done in China. We view abortion as a private health matter between a woman and her doctor. Family planning should be emphasized, with abortion available in cases where it fails.

5:45 For the individual, the solution is clear. All you would need to do is just relocate to one of the black areas.
TenthAmendmentIssues 6 months ago
@TenthAmendmentIssues There's a reason why the black areas on the map are less populated. They are mostly inhospitable to humans (dessert, tundra, etc.) and present challenges to growing food that are too great. This is why statements such as "we can all fit in Australia or Texas" are so misguided. Arable land is a much more relevant measure of available land than land in general.

The West is surviving on credit cards alone while China is rolling in actual money.
hop208 1 year ago
@hop208 LIsten, the solution is already available. They are called desalinization plants rendering the oceans waters drinkable.
thedodger2x 11 months ago
@thedodger2x Large scale desalination plants and the amount of infrastructure needed to make the water available to the public would cost billions of dollars and the construction would need to start immediately. Not only that, but with the current technology to separate the salt and other impurities form the water isn't sustainable on that scale. All current large scale desalination plants (like in Dubai) run on massive amounts of oil. Indian oil consumption would go up dramatically.
hop208 11 months ago
@hop208 Let's plan for success and look at another desalinization plant, one built in Israel (Ashkelon Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Plant ). The cost was much less at $212M. The plant's energy requirements is taken from a cleaner source, that is, natural gas to power turbine engines and not oil reserves. It is backed up by the national grid of Israel. It provides 13% of the country's consumer water demand. It has been sustaining operation since 2006. Let's keep pursuing this technology.

Efforts to curb population by neglecting foreign aid would be both immoral and unsound. If families do not get food, they aren't just going to sit on the corner and die. In many cases they will then depend on subsistence farming, which incents having MORE children for farm labor. Without technology investment, substinence farming is inefficient which means a stagnate agricultural market, which means even more people have to grow their own food, which means even more people have more children.
prophesize 1 year ago
Then without health services child rearing becomes less predictable, which - on top of the lack of food perpetuated by a reduction in aid - makes parents trust less in the survival in their children, which could lead to them compensating for that fact by having even more children. Alternatively, health services provide access to condoms and birth control, which prevent the cheapest form of pleasure from producing more children. Without education and infrastructure... you get my point, I hope.

Actually, Africa could use a lot more foreign aid, in the form of family planning assistance. Women there want to have fewer children but don't have access to safe and affordable birth control. Where contraception is available, fertility rates almost always drop quickly.
