Of course, Tom and Daria tried to avoid having people find out and jump to the wrong conclusion but Tom had no way of knowing that Jake would be up at that time or that the door would get stuck!

i don't think so, this show only matured along with the characters: the closer they get to graduation, the more they have to deal with. this isn't a sitcom where every episode is solely humorous, which is why a lot of people get thrown off by seasons 4-5.

I don't know why Helen freaks out at the prospect of Daria and Tom sleeping together. They are both of the age of consent, and Daria's sensible enough to use contraception and not get pregnant. Why doesn't Helen show as much concern about Quinn when she is on her dates? She is far less sensible that Daria, and a lot more prone to getting pressured into doing something she might not really want to do.

@radiofiendify I think it's because Quinn's only dates guys to have their attention and doesn't get physically close to them. Her best line is is totally, "Ew, get your big sweaty hands off me! I don't slow dance until after the fifth date!" I can't imagine Quinn getting pressured by any guy. :P Whereas Daria and Tom are obviously very close, and regardless of age of consent, I think it's normal for parents to feel bizarre about their children having sex.

I never saw this one! I think I missed most of season 5 when it was on MTV in the olden days. This whole thing is so awkward! I love it. It's really cool how the show always made Daria so bright, but never forgot she was a teenager with horrible, awkward teenage problems.

Both Quinn's face and her chirp of "PHONE!" made me laugh for about ten minutes. Lol.
