If I were planning on voting for Obama, I wouldn't let Rev. Wright's opportunist speech stop me. I also beleive that most of Americans are not racist. I am really proud that our country has a black man and a white female running for president! Don't let anyone's ignorance deter your vote. Let's not lose sight of the fact that not so long ago, women were not allowed to vote, regardless of their color. Women make your vote count!!!
women were property to male relatives, unable to own property and later unable to work or vote. - keep your eye on the complete facts. The guilt by association between wreight and Obama, is a good example of poor timing . I give Obama the benifit of the dought, that this Rev. used Obama's status to gain attention to himself. Obama respectfully disassociated himself in public. I can respect Obama for the way he did it.
It's just about having basic respect. Due to history and contemporary issue racism is here to stay. How many other president have you known to have assassination attempts on them before they got elected?
ok so he's taught the 'word of jesus' by some racist asshole. that doesn't mean he's racist. its likely that if you go to church you're preached to by a homophobe since gays are looked down upon in the bible, but that doesn't necessarily mean all of you are homophobic
Yes, sure. Totally ignore that Obama calls this man his mentor and hired him on his campaign team and has been VERY close to him for about 20 years. MUCH different than just being in a church where the preecher is anti-gay. The country isn't over 70% gay, BTW. But it IS well over 70 percent of primarily European heritage.
i'm not supporting obama as much as the next person on this message board, i really don't know who i support in this presidential race. at least we do have the choice though, if you dont like him, dont vote for him
All I can say is: Pastor John Hagee. This wing-nut seriously believes it is god's purpose for us to bring about Armageddon by attacking Iran - oh, and if you happen to be Catholic, Hagee has some news for you - Catholics are the "great whores" of Christendom.
Compared to this lunatic, who agitates for nothing less than the end times, Pastor Wright seems modest and timid in his scope.
And what does McCain have to say about Hagee? "I am very proud to have Pastor John Hagee's support." Ugggh
How can this country move on? According to Wright, America is racist. We deserve to be attack -- God Damn America. The guy that say all this is his spiritual guide.
Preaching in a way that relates to black culture is not racist. Wright has criticised the black community on numerous occasions as well.
And saying "God Damn America" does not make someone unpatriotic, especially in the context he was saying it in; condemning America for sponsoring state terrorism and nuking Japan.
Wright's remarks were sometimes insensitive and inflammatory, like comparing hating on Obama to hating on Jesus, but he is not a bad man, and Obama is a great one.
Nothing Obama can say or do will fix the damage done to his reputation now that such an intimate and important influence on his life and his belief systems has been revealed as a loathsome racist who hates america so passionately.
If the dems are stupid enough now to nominate him, they will lose the election by a larger margin than has ever happened before in the history of our country.
The irony is pretty thick. Never before has the US been as ready to support a black man. But he blew it.
"Never before has the US been as ready to support a black man". No thanks to boneheads like you has it taken this long. Don't be thick. Jerry Falwell, Billy Graham, Pat Robertson are all in the same boat as Jeremiah Wright, but I have never heard of their Republican supporters being crucified as much as you.

Really? Because I've never heard any of those guys directing hate speech towards blacks the way I saw Wright talking about whites and jews.
I can't think of a more ideal situation now than for McCain to run against Obama. But I don't think that is going to happen now. No way the dems are going to allow that level of humiliating defeat. They will probably cut their losses and field Hillary. They will probably still lose but, unlike Obama, she's still electable.
Did this turn out to be a massive load of shit, or what?

You are aware that Obama did not write the book? He's pretty much a piece of shit. Who is apparently afraid of nominating white people.

No we can't mention his middle name.
No we can't win the war in Iraq.
No we can't expand oil exploration, drilling or refining.
No we can't build nuclear power plants.
No we can't stop Iran from building nuclear weapons.
No we can't employ terrorist profiling techniques at airports.
No we can't tolerate free speech on talk radio
No we can't reduce government spending, waste and corruption
No we can't allow medical professionals and their patients to control the healthcare system.

The only way America can move forward is if we get rid of racism completely, which i doubt will ever happen. if not then America will stay divided.
