Black and White. A collection of songs that exudes bleak war torn imagery and references the cold war to great effect. (U2 and Joy Division went on to create dark music with war torn overtones but the Stranglers did it first on Black and White). The production sought to capture death and destruction with a stark sneer of cold command and entrenched paranoia that existed in the late 1970's. A true masterpiece - never bettered.
Seen a comment on another video from same concert, commenter said joy division could take it where the stranglers never could. Kinda weird that THE STRANGLERS still perform, but joy prickvision are left in the anals of despair. I rest my case.
@peterdukewilson That was me, I expressed it clumsily, I actually meant that Joy Division took the sound and vive of early stranglers and explored only that path whereas the Stranglers changed direction with each outing and would move on.
Anyone out there with a spare copy of the dvd of this concert to sell, please let me know i am gutted i missed buying it from mam store, because of my illness. i was at the concert and they did one of my faves walk on by, please i am desperate to get a copy
Yeah, love them, they don't really miss Hugh, Paul does fine & J.J. still sings some songs & dances, closing my eyes & listening....I'd say what's changed??.......))))))......Still one of best bands on EARTH.......Merci' & long live the Men in Black.....))))))
Baz Warne is SO much better than Paul Roberts, and he plays the guitar - so The Stranglers are back to a four piece. Excellent! Can't wait to see them at Leeds in March :-)

@kingofpunk1977
Be honest its way better than what The Stranglers are doing now too!
Seems like the magic was in the chemistry of the four original members.
