If Hannibal had received the reinforcements he asked for, Rome would have fallen and Zama would never have happened. I read a comment on there never beeing an african civilization, and i was stunned. Don't people know of Abyssinia (modern day Ethiopia)? And how it is the only country to beat-off European colonisationattempts untill Mussolini in a second, mind you second, attempt finaly claimed Ethiopia for Italy for about a decade. As for the irrelevant skinncolor of Hannibal, i don't know. But i'd guess Mediteranian-greek. But that does not make him less of an African mind you. The End of this nonsense.

I'm sorry for not mentioning other African civilazations, but i felt the comment was getting long enough anyways. I chose to mention only Abyssinia since they are the only nation to "successfully" fight off the Europeans. The Zulu's made a good attemt aswell but did not succeed. Carthage is simply the Romanised form of Punic (Late Phoenician): Qart 'Hadast.

The film, i think, is trying to make Hannibal look compassionate when in fact nothing would have made him happier (i truly believe) than to see Rome in ashes.
