Now that's more kits than I have in my stash... WOW!! That Avla there, who makes it? How does the mosquito look? Would you recommend that kit? How is Dragon planes? What spitfire kit would you recommend most? Would you recommend HobbyBoss? How is Trumpeter planes? Recommending the Lysander? And how is that Revell Swordfish? Lots of questions... but thanks for any answear I may get! Thanks!
Great hobby! I see the Mosquito and the Me 262. I build those models (and many others) > 35 years ago, as a child. Unfortunetaly, I don't have them anymore.
Ha.. Glad I saw your icon had changed, or I would have seen this video somewhat later!! Nice little collection there, much of what I actually DON'T have, as a change!! And much to look forward too.. I DO have a 'Wooden Wonder', but the Swedish version, a Night Fighter from F1 Wing.. The Swedes kept crashing them though, for some reason?? It'll be interesting to see who gets theirs done first! :) Wasn't the Pe-2 known as the Russian Mosquito, by the way? :) I'm probably wrong, as per usual! :)
Well, anybody might have called the Pe-2 the russian Mosquito: These two (with the german Ju 88 three) are comparable and versatile, used as Fast Bombers, Nightfighters, ground attack etc.
Somewhere I read that a british wing of Hurricanes had been flying cover for the Pe-2, and hardly could keep pace (which partially was the cause because russians often flew full throttle all the time)
BaronK.. Yes, I've read that as well somewhere.. I otherwise thought the Heinkel He 219 UHU was the German plane most compatable with the Mosquito.. Whoever decided not to concentrate on buildingmaking and using the 219 did a serious error, in my opinion, as I believe it was the only purpose built nightfighter the Germans had.. and definetely one of the best, if not THE best! I've built the old 1/72 Lindberg kit of the UHU, and much enjoyed it.. :)
Robert, you are not quite right: The He 219 WAS a formidable nightfighter and could catch a mosquito, but it was NOT pupose-built as such (that honour goes to the Northrop P-61). The german plane which got the inofficial appelation of "Moskito" was the Ta-154, built of wood in an equal manner as the mosquito, but this failed to reach service (apart from a small batch serving with I/NJG3) and suffered from problems with the glue.
Well, I'm not wrong, but I guess my source of information is!! I did read somewhere that it was purposebuilt as a dedicated Nightfighter but I'm happy to stand corrected.. :) Whatever way, I still think it's a formidable plane..
Dave, I feel much honoured that you dedicated this to me ;-)))))))))
It is quite obvious that you prefer building russian airplanes, besides the MiG-3 I like the Pe-2. But while mine are nearly all done, your models are awating your skilled hands to bring them to life! Great collection and have fun with them!
I have two spitfires, almost finished - videos to come soon. They both require a lot of custom painting (the decals don't exist) and so it takes a while...

Stalin would be proud; look at all of the Soviet planes!

Of course, I am Stalin-terested in model planes, but now they are the flying variety.

Thanks, but nothing is any good for sure until it has been built ;)

I know, I tried to build one once and I failed. But I love them.
Inky261 3 years ago
What plane was it?
SmiertSpionem 3 years ago
Don`t remember, small american one. but I failed. Was a revell.
Inky261 3 years ago
I always found revell instructions and paint guides difficult, but some of their kits are good value and cheap to make ;) And German of course...

i was too dumb or clumsy. But I love them.

Thats a shame, i get the feeling I might buy a dutch fokker D.XXI kit (MPM) soon. But first to complete a dutch ace Spitfire mk.XVI ;)
I only got back into modelling about 2 years ago and I was very bad at it in my early years (4-13) :(
SmiertSpionem 3 years ago
i like thatsu2 will it be on here anytime soon??
faireyswordfishmk1 3 years ago
Er, I have too many projects going right now. I could do it next, but I really want to make a mig-3!

SmiertSpionem I like the look of that Saab Tunnan mate I'd like to see that built and Vidioed
pik93 3 years ago
It's near the top of the list ;) If I ever make more jets they will be Saab's before any others (I have quite the fascination).

Haven't I seen this line up before?
Nice airforce. Be sure you have them ready before the enemy bombs your production facility.
