  • Oh Mary, help us, we have forgotten You and Your Son and need Him above all and You so much.

  • just came back from there on friday

  • Ave Crux ! Ave Maria !

  • Love this,it fills me with a feeling of peace ,love and joy- fruits of the holy spirit.

Luke 1:48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth ALL generations shall call me blessed.

  • dort beten die menschen auch etwas an

  • Go to Africa, not to Lourdes!!!

  • I went there last easter, i had high hopes for the place but it came across as a cross between Disneyland and Blackpool but with holy water....There was a disctinct lack of spirituality there, but sadly an aura of commercialism...

  • @undrentide1972 you should have gone there before. the first time i went was in 2006 & it was super peaceful & without any distractions but when i went back last December, it became more of a tourist attraction. there were children running about, people talking loudly etc. if you want to really want a sense of spirituality, i suggest go in the morning when it's still dark. you'll be able to find the elderly & the nuns by the grotto & it's amazing.

  • Can anyone please tell me the source of this exact melody. There are other compositions called Salve Regina, but the music is of course different (just as pretty). The other day at Mass I heard the choir sing this during Communion, I think, and I wanted to know more about this composition, thanks!

  • i really h ope so..i will take them on training trip around lourdes ...minus bras hohoohoh merry xmas

  • are there any hooker there?

  • Thank you >atklooster for uploading this vid. I’m fortunate, that in my lifetime I’ve been to Lourdes 14 times (and lived there shortly in 2007). The Ave Maria is beautiful also; but for myself personally the Salve Regina (Hail Holy Queen) is even more so. Even though I’ve been to Lourdes on so many occasions; on seeing this clip/vid, the hairs on my forearms still stand up, and I feel close to tears as I have done when I’ve actually been in attendance of a Marian Procession in Lourdes.

  • For those who have never been to Lourdes, or to those who intend to make another/further visits, I’ll make the following suggestion (and this may not apply to some, who have undertaken this); the best time to visit, is for the 15th August (feast of the Assumption).

  • Lourdes is overwhelmed by the masses, to the extent that as the Salve Regina is being sung (which is pretty much towards the end of the Marian Procession), there are still people way back past where the baths are located; and when you hear the Ave Maria and Salve Regina being sung, it is an even more amazing experience.

  • But should you seek to visit Lourdes, at the time of the feast of the Assumption (again *15th August), whether you travel via your own means or with a pilgrimage tour operator, be sure to book well in advance (by the end of April at the very least); as all hotels are fully booked during this (15th August) period.

  • For those who are unaware, the season usually commences in the very *last week of March/ *first week in April; but all the hotels are preparing for the beginning of a said season, at least 2 weeks in advance of this *period; so you can call them and make your booking/reservation(s).

  • But it’s fantastic for people of the Catholic faith; as well as from variant denominations of Christianity as a whole; in addition to people of other faiths (I personally have seen Hindu’s, Buddhists and Islamic women in Lourdes) acknowledging/respecting a figure (Mother of Christ) that we do not know as in having direct contact with, and whom we also cannot see, but understand; yet certain minor aspects still remain a mystery to us (as it should, for none of us are the Father, Son or HS).

  • As for remarks by >markanddot and to a lesser extent >lorofcb2 about the outer sanctuary/shrine, and what occurs there; >*markanddot makes a compelling argument. But this has nothing to do with the body of the Catholic Church; and yes the outer sanctuary does resemble somewhat of a theme park, tourist attraction…….etc; but that’s the world over.

  • You will find Capitalism being active/rife, around most outer sanctums of a said religious place of pilgrimage and worship; from Mecca to the *river Ganges (*Hinduism), to Jerusalem……..etc; as people seek to earn a living from the masses in attendance (and does it really matter what they sell?? Like >markanddot, I’ve seen what I personally consider to be some of most ridiculous items for sale. But such is our freedoms).

  • As for >lorofcb2’s reference to so-called ‘Catholic intolerance’; from a secular perspective, perhaps a point exists here too. But where you have a belief in something (both secularly and spiritually), a level of intolerance exists in-turn of that belief; and as for the living/practicing of a faith; and if the secular world deems certain aspects of that faith as being intolerant, then so be it.

  • Bila sam u Lurdu 2008. Najdivnij doživljaj u mom životu. Hvala

  • Salve Regina, mater misericordiae! Ora Pro Nobis!

Absolutely Beautiful video! God Bless you!

  • Just returned to the UK after visiting Family in Lourdes this summer. Such a magical place. Never have I seen such commercial nonsence...... Statues of the Blessed Virgin sold in the same shops (and there are MANY of them) as CS Gas, Tasers, and Ninja throwing knives.Sorry but I really cant understand.

  • @markanddot that's the catholic church for you. intolerance paired with superstition and greed.

  • @lorofcb2 Did the Catholic Church coerce these multitude of people to come here? And for those offended by the markets around the Shrine, did you actually go there to shop? What point are you missing here?

Intolerance? Thou shalt NOT bear false witness against thy neighbor or are you still living in the time of the Great Inquisition? Hurry get in the TIME Capsule and welcome to the 21st century.

  • @markanddot well merchants would sell anything to make money! or is it the Church's fault as well?

  • @markanddot

  • I was there in 2003 and I was real touched

  • Translation from Latin into English for the uninitiated: Hail Queen, Merciful Mother, Our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To you do we cry, exiled children of Eve, To you do we sigh, Weeping and mourning in this valley of tears. Turn then, our Advocate, Your merciful eyes toward us And after this our exile, Show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb. Oh merciful, oh loving, oh sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
  • absolutely beautiful! May God bless those who attend this sacred shrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I plan to go to Lourdes once I graduate.

  • Ce n'est peut-être pas le Salve Regina "de Lourdes"

C'est en tout cas celui qui était chanté dans les pélerinages mariaux de notre enfance...

  • While many wish to go to Hawaii or the Bahamas. Mine is to go to Lourdes and Put my body in the Healing waters and next go to Nevers where St. Bernadette is.

  • Yo acabo de venir de allí... es maravilloso.

  • I was there :D

  • Special place - Lourdes

If you get the call to go there, you'll know it.

    God Bless.

  • Thank you! God bless you.

  • i have a question !, ..when the season is opening ?, i know during the winter time is closed....

i want to go in spring....but i dont know if will be open.... pls answer, ...thanks

  • @salvadoraugustus

The sanctuary is open all year long, i went there on november, it was fantastic as there was nobody and we could reach the place where Bernadette met the Holy virgin in all its silence and purity.Forgive my very bad english, I'm french!

there is a website, if you need further information.Just google "Lourdes+sanctuaires"!

  • @cerise656565 merci !!!

  • @salvadoraugustus

Lourdes is a very small town, but the nature all around is beautiful. The cave itself towards the river is very impressive.

The place is crowdy all year long, only in winter there is less pelegrins and several souvenirs shops are closed. Some people say the crowd of Lourdes is full of intensity and peace.

All year long you can confess, go to masses, rosary , bath in Lourdes water, and take a walk and pray by the beautiful calvary and visit Bernadette's places(very moving).

  • I will go there someday.

  • Never forget the atmosphere there!

Tears well up whenever I remember it!

Thank you, Lourdes, for giving me an encouragement to start new.......

  • i went in that strange and unknow place on france...but i felt home....more than where i was born....

  • I have never felt the peace I felt in Lourdes, where I too went with my mother, thankful for just being the nicest person in the world. I hope we will go back there sometime again.

  • i hope everyone will just respect each spiritual belief, whether one is adoring to a stone, after all spirituality is personal and relative..by the way, I am a catholic and I know that my religion did not teach me to pray to mary, rather, pray to God and ask mary for intercession, which I think ,sadly, critics are getting it wrong. But then again, respect each belief, because at the end of the day, it's a relationship between God and person..

  • To Our Lord Jesus Christ through the bearer of baby Jesus for 9 months in her womb, who said 'yes' without hesitation - Mary. The One she bore for 9 months died on the cross, with her at the foot of the cross. Mary, first disciple of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • the lost soul are you because you're intolerant , if you're not catholic, less catholic people in peace whith our religion! let me explain you something: when you need some consolation, maybe you go to your father , mother or someone you love, it's the same for us , catholics, Mary is Jesus mother's , and our mother too, then we do the same whit her. God bless you!

  • Been there. Its so beautiful at night time especially with all the candles flickering. Enjoy it first timers!

  • LOVE YOU MARY :)

    LOURDES :)

  • preciosoooooo!!!!!

  • I was in Lourdes last week, I did this procession a few times - its simply amazing! I had the time of my life, and for that, all i can say is "Our Lady of Lourdes, we thank you"

  • I travelled to a local Torchlight in Honour of Our Lady on Monday, and loved it, as I do when I am in Lourdes.

Speaking to my Mother, a couple of days after the procession (I am at Uni around 35 miles from home) She said that its the hymns you sing rarely, the Immaculate Mary, Tantum Ergo, Salve Regina, which makes it so special, coupled with the privilege of being in Lourdes. I have to say I agree with her.

Our Lady of Lourdes, Pray For Us

    Matthew

  • i'm from Dubllin Ballymun.. beautful. my heart is praying for my kids

  • Once in Lourdes; always Lourdes will be with you. Close your eyes and remember the procession, remember thousands of people praying the rosary together. Keep your eyes closed and listen to those thousands singing Ave Maria. Sit still and listen to the silence of the grotto.

I wish you all peace and in just this moment; let's be together in prayer in Lourdes.

Thank you for the post that brings me home to Lourdes even for just a few moments.

    Peace Ron

  • Could not have put it better myself. I look forward to the next time I shall be privileged to go to Lourdes.

Our Lady of Lourdes Pray for us

    Matthew James

  • I love lourdes its such an amazing place. I felt a holy presence in that atmosphere it has really touch me :)

  • Im going to the Lourdes pilgrimage this year! I will meet catholics from all over the world! Gloria Deo!

  • I am going to LOurdes in September, this will be my fifth visit, i go as a helper with a pilgrimage and it is the most rewarding, eye opening experience of a lifetime. there is definitely something there, there is such a warming presence and somethings are so emotional. I would not have classed myself as a religous person but i do believe in this and would not miss my annual trip now for anything.

  • I totally agree with you. I went for my first time last month, and it truely is an unreal experience. Please God I'll be back again next year :)

  • I think when you visit Lourdes you are either destined to go back or you will never go back and your mind will be made up inside the first few moments. I, like you wanted to return and it happened. It will happen for you too.

  • I do believe that if Our Holy Immaculate Mom could have the Second Child, Certainly, My Sister Bernadette Soubirous would be Her Daughter for sure. That was because Our Mom told Her in Her Own Bigourdan Dialect, "Que Soy Era Immaculada Councepciou." It Was Her Privilege To Be As Her Mom. Her Message made the World to be sure that We must be so. If We miss this point, We can not be Our Beloved Heavenly Father's Children. Thank you, Bernadette, I Will Never Forget Your Name In My Life As Well!

  • I'm going to lourdes in semptember. I have gone there since 8 yeas and every year I live a new esperience.I invite everyony to go onece in his life

  • The best way to go to Lourdes is with a pilgrimage. Bonding with people there makes the experience even deeper.

  • Thanks. :)

  • I have been 10 times and would recommend anyone that hasnt been that you should go, the peace of the grotto at night after the procession you have seen is something that is stuck in one's mind for good. I know that i will go for an 11th time in 2009, hopefully you will join me

  • I'm going to Lourdes in 2 weeks time! This will be my 2nd time in Lourdes, i went 2 years ago and the overwhelming emotion is priceless. I was 17 at the time, i didn't expect to feel anything. If ur thinking about going u definitly should.

  • Lourdes est vraiment un endroit extraordinairement spirituel et de miracle permanent. On y ressent une paix intérieure immense. J'adore cet endroit, et j'adore mon Dieu et ma Mère.

  • I want to go there so badly, and I hope someday I can. )

  • you will go one day with the grace of God it will happen

  • Thank you and God bless you. ^__^

  • You will go and soon.Once you start to think about going you will go.Go in the month of July. Its a place that gives you an unbelievable feeling of deep joy.The torchlight procession is so emotional.Everybody should go to Lourdes at least once.

  • Please think about going with a party of sick pilgrims. It works both ways. Good luck.

  • Thank you and God bless you. ^___^

  • As for Mary, the mother of Jesus, the one who believed Luke 1:45 "Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled." she kept all the words and deeds of the Lord in her heart Luke 2:51 "...and his mother kept all these things in her heart." Mary is ALRIGHT to be honored according to Proverbs 31:30 "Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the woman who fears the LORD is to be praised." :) Ave Maria, Ave Maria, Ave Maria (",)

  • AMEN!!!

  • This pilgrim wants to go this year fot the first time. This video is very inspiring! Thanks!

  • This pilgrim wants to return this year with his family for the 11th time, but are seriously struggling to afford to go,

Our Lady of Lourdes Pray for Me

  • Sometimes you can approach your local chapel or archdiocese to help with funding.I wish you good luck and hope you can manage to fulfil your wish but I am also sure Our Lady would not want you to put yourself under pressure and she will know your desire was to go.I myself cant go this year. But next year I will be there in July,God willing.Take care.

  • I have promised myself and Our Lady of Lourdes that if I cannot go then I will return in 2009. I said my prayers to Our Lady of Lourdes at the Crowned Virgin ensuring me being able to go again for what will be my eleventh privilege to attend the sanctuaries.

  • Then I am sure you will go and maybe I will see you there.God Bless

  • i want to go there, too.

I was there in August last year for the first time and it impressed me so much that it's my only dream to visit that place once more...

  • This brings back joyful memories - thank you.

Now I want to go back to Lourdes this year!

If you love your Guardian Angel, you might like to watch my humble little tribute:

    watch?v=b9IGPAp7uZw

    Thanks again & God bless!

  • I would like to go there one day.

  • You would love it.Lourdes is a wonderful experience for all ages.Plenty of young people go there and you would love it.Its an amazing place and touches your heart so deeply.I think best time to go is mid July.Wonderful atmosphere at torchlight procession.

  • I wil never 4get my 1st visit AMAZING!!

Also you cant speak your opinion till u ave been do u agree?

I felt I experience some healing here coz I did stand up at an open mic and since then have done it twice more at Lourdes 3 times at the college showcase and a homeless party and feel I am not shy anymore.

Ur rite about a wonderful atmosphere at torchlight procession in July.

  • Lourdes is not just about physical healing. Its about many things, emotional healing, participation, love, understanding. Its a very moving experience and I certainly came back a different person.I felt renewed.I hope your healing continues and I am sure it shall.Healing comes from your heart and that of the Blessed Virgin. You will continue your recovery because you have done very well and opened your heart for the recovery to go on.

  • I came back a different person as I now have the confidence 2 go on stage last time I wasnt nervous and I hope 2 take this skill further

  • Absolutely Beautiful; not having gone but some of my family have gone: I've been to similar events in the USA but not like this. Lots of BLUE!

  • Its one of the most moving experiences of my life.Everyone should go if possible.Mary,in one of her messages, asked that people come and complete a procession there. You would not regret one single moment of being in Lourdes.I think the best time to go is mid July.Lovely atmosphere at candlelight procession which starts at 9 at night. The feeling in the air is so emotional.Go. You wont regret it.The only regret you will have is that you did not go sooner.

  • Wrong date below. Hugh left us on March 13th 2008.

  • Beautiful indeed.

May the peace of the risen Christ be with you all this Easter.

    Pax

  • Thank You.Hope you and your family have a lovely Easter.

  • I am thankful to Our Lady of Lourdes for helping my cousin Fr Hugh McGinlay of Glasgow Cathedral in his hour of need until his passing on March 13th 2007.Hughs devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes was outstanding.Requiescat in Pace my lovely cousin.I love you

  • May Our Lady of Lourdes intercede for Kenya, in this difficult moment.

  • Blessed be! The feast of Our Lady of Lourdes is today(Feb. 11)! 150th aniversary! Blessed be Mary, mother of God!

I have been to Lourdes 2 times and is never enough. Place is not only spiritual, very spiritual but magnetic. Do not have the words to express myself. Looking forward to my next visit.

    Neel

  • Muito Lindo.

  • Thanks very much for your posts about this wonderful place.

I made my First Communion there on Our Lady's birthday (8.9.57), we got engaged there on 25.5.82 (the day the Pope came to Britain) and after we came back from there in 1986 we found our son was on the way (we'd been told that we shouldn't have kids due to my wife's health). And all three of us hope to be there next year for the 150th anniversary celebrations.

    Who says miracles don't happen?

    Love and God bless

    Dominic xx

  • What a wonderful story Dominic,

I've been 10 times before, (and I'm 17) I cannot make it there this year so could you pray for me at the grotto to Our Lady so me and my family can afford to go again.

    God Bless

    Matthew

  • Dear Mattthew,

Thank you so much for your reply.

We shall certainly remember you and your family in our prayers when we go to Lourdes this summer (my 19th trip), especially when we visit the Grotto - in fact, we shall start doing so right now.

You will all most certainly go again. After all, that is what Our Blessed Lady asked us all to do - to come in procession to Her Shrine. She'll make sure you get there.

    Love and God bless,

    Dominic

  • This is wonderful...It's so rare that I ever hear this prayer in Latin! For me it has special meaning: my grandmother taught me to sing Salve Regina and a few others when I was twelve-now at 25 I find I am the only woman my age who knows what any of the old songs mean! (Come to think of it, any Catholics here with a similar experience?)

  • Hi! My post to your comment is below! God bless

  • hehe..yea me too, i was taught the prayers in Latin. im 22 and i think i'm the only guy at least in this part of my country that knows them in Latin. lol. It is an honour though cause it is the most beautiful way to pray and sing

  • HI I really like the video. How could I download it? And who taped it? I would want to upload it in my blog, it is so beautiful. Thanks

  • thanks a lot for your help Anton! I think the prayer is more known in the way it has been translated, in spanish we call it "Salve" too but we usually say it in the translated version. We hardly never sing it in Latin. I went to Santiago on Pilgrimage this year and learned that the prayer was "distributed" to the world from there, although it has a french origin.

  • .....Oooooh dulcis Virgo Maria! je t'aime; et merci pour la video atklooster! 5 étoiles pour toi

  • De moi et ma famille aussi, atklooster! C'est magnifique!

    Amities,

    Dominique

  • Thanks, not the week I was there, I was there from the 1st-6th July this year, my tenth trip, which diocese do you atklooster represent

  • Lourdes is a magical place and the Salve Regina at the end of the Torchlight procession - is one of my highlights. When was this taken? I ask cause I may be one of those in the crowd

  • It was taken during the 2nd week of July this year, I'm not sure which day. I'm glad the video reminds you of this wonderful place.
