  • Can you tell me if what you called the 'neutral side' of the circuit is what is sometimes called the 'return circuit'?

Can you also explain how the clamp can measure the current through the wires without actually making a connection with them? Is it measuring the magnetic field which exists in concentric rings around a current carrying conductor?

  • thank goodness for a simple yet cautious video on this topic. thank you for your video.

  • @Joethetooltech

    You are welcome.

    Thanks for the comment

  • very helpful. thanks

  • @frankie2234

    You are welcome.

    Thanks for the comment

  • Lancashire or Yorkshire?

  • @Knightlore10

    Lancashire ;-)

  • I like those quick connectors you got, great video!

  • @sackcheck

    Thanks, they are great.

I have done videos about the connectors, if you look for Wago connectors you will see them.

    Thanks for the comment

  • @ultimatehandyman - Can we make the same connection using a Variable Speed electric Drill ( 120 Volts ) ????

  • @MrMilitantviper

You can do this with any voltage, but higher the voltage the higher the chance of injuring or killing yourself. I'd leave the mains electricity to the electricians ;-)

  • Can you measure amps and wattage?

  • @MindSeeR666

    Not with my multi-meter.

You can work out wattage though- Amps * Volts = Watts

Or you can buy dedicated Watt meters

  • @ultimatehandyman I didn't expect a reply this fast, Thanks for your help, man.

  • @MindSeeR666

No problem, If I am at the computer at the time I can reply quickly.

    Thanks for the comments

  • THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

  • @666MOURNFUL

    You are welcome

  • DUDE! CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME OUT, I HAVE A CLAMP METER MODEL DT266 AND I WANT TO TEST AMPS ON AC, IF IT STILL WORK OR NOT, MY CURRENT READING IT STAYS 0.. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

  • @666MOURNFUL

If you are measuring the current on either the live or negative and the meter is staying at 0, ensure that you have selected the correct setting on the dial. If that does not work your clamp meter is not working. Some cheap clamp meters simply do not work!

  • Awesome video, in my opinion a must see for all A/V technicians. Thanks a lot!

  • @infidale

    Thanks for the comment

  • let's say if I have to measure amps from a 6 v motorbike battery so must I connect the battery to a motor first and then measure apms or I can directly measure amps from the battery alone ?

  • @HomoSapien2012

You can only find out how many amps an appliance uses by using this method. If you are trying to find out the amperage of the battery, you would need a different method (which I do not know, sorry). A quick internet search should answer your question though ;-)

  • lovely. nice video. thanks

  • @balasuriyage

    Thanks for the comment

  • Finally a video that does exactly what the title says and in a

    clear concise way, thank you.

  • @7divad37

    You are welcome.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • @7divad37 I would rather it be done using a circuit board than that drill.

  • @Passivity211

A drill was used because it contains a motor and motors are perfect for showing how they pull more AMP's when under load. In industry Ammeters are often hard wired into circuits containing motors as they are an extremely useful indicator of what the motor is doing.

  • Thanks. This is very clear and interesting. I'll be showing it in physics class tomorrow.

  • @c4science

    You are welcome!

That is great- thanks for letting me know ;-)

  • this helped me, thank!

  • @BaTakProductions

    I'm glad it helped.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • Don't they have dc clamp meter?

  • @WprEmiere1985

They do make them, but I don't have one.

  • DeWalt, good choice. Looking to get one of their corded drills.

  • @Bulgdoom

Keep your eyes open for special offers, Sometimes you can get them much cheaper than the RRP ;-)

  • Awesome, i need to make some clips for my meter instead of the probes.

  • nice, thank you

  • Good one, thanks.

  • Well done video.

  • no doubt that this video is the reason to still visit youtube :)

  • @untledeam Lol

  • Plus from me !
