    Loriano

  • Excellent to see some of YSB's snake style, especially considering its rarity. The 2 man application drills were particularly inspiring, as you could see elements of the other animals in the fluid movements. Thanks for posting.

  • Glad that you appreciate it, pranakhan. It's nice to do something that one like. And I like a lot snake baguazhang.

  • thank you for showing some of the applications of this style. i find it very interesting to see how the forms can be applied in a fight

    saluti!

    saluti!

  • I noticed one pesky detail. It was that every time you threw your student down was when the audience applauded. I, for one, was elated when I saw you display the simpler strikes to the head and neck. Had you struck with fa-jing then your student would not only fall but be seriously hurt. Thank you.

  • That was great application and paired practice. Thanks.

  • Thanks. It is difficult to obtain appreciation in the Martial Arts world where everybody is ready to talk bad of everybody. Thanks again.

  • I have heard that the monkey system consist mostly of kicks. I saw some kicking in the snake system. Are there alot of kicking practice in the Snake system? Other than the snake and monkey, are there other system that you know have kicking?

  • No, the kicks come from other systems, different from He Jinbao's. You are right, as far as I know, only monkey system ha apparent kicking. This is not to say that you cannot use them in apps, as He Jinbao shows in some picture and as I saw by myself, in particolar a short kick used when the adversary is grasped.

  • from what i have read there are 9 kicks for each animal, 3 different kicks done each high medium and low, 9 x 8 = 72. monkey uses kicking methods as its main practice but all animals have kicks. i don't know what they are but i know one of lions kicks is stamping and dragons is bai bu as xie pei qi explained in the dvd's he produced. i think he just taught kicking as a system in itself, seperate from the rest of the animal strikes.

  • Actually, in my humble opinion, what you were displaying was the ruthless potential of expert combat efficiency. The masses, dear sir, shall always respond to tantalizing performances; they can't appreciate the reality of combat.

  • well said!!!

  • To Narayan

Yes but you have to understand that it was a public demo. It is natural that people applauded. Only a refined martial art pratictioner can be elated only to look at the movements because he understands them also without application as, I feel, it is your situation.
