@LilKama1 The ark has always dressed different but no they are not crossdressers, but this was very early in there career and well they just liked to have fun and dress how they wanted, they didnt care if it looked ridiculous out :) And you should check them out they are great! :) (sry bad english)

I think it's for effect - "Get ready, 'cause this song is so huge that I need to press these buttons to reinforce the building you stand in." He even asks if they're ready for it. I think it's for effect, and to accompany the electric idea they go for to start with. : )
