  • thats NOT how yuh cooked callaloo the jamaican way ... that looked like spinach ,

  • callaloo is NOT Collard greens. They taste very different

  • is this Calaloo done the Jamaican way? He should have used spinach....not collards, no. I like Calaloo done the Trini and Jama'can way though.....

  • @BoxerMonkey The sign states " Now Serving Seagram's Strawberry Coolers". But I totally don't understand for collards are American greens!!

  • @NALESSEY

Thanks for the comment. I've adapted the flavors of the Islands into my dishes for the folks here in the states so yes it is Americanized.

  • bombo claat , why would some1 americanize callaloo??

  • he knows that hes not stupid its just to americanize the dish so evryone can eat it

  • A wha di rass is dis? wha kinda bootleg 'callaloo' ting dat him a make?

  • Now, I must state that stateside if you are unable to find dasheen bush, he is right about substituting spinach. BUT collards are in my opinion too far off in flavor and texture to properly substitute in the dish. I also didn't see the addition of okra, that is ESSENTIAL to a proper pot of callaloo!

  • ok, I need to help clarify for the people out there who do not know what callaloo is. It isn't assumed that you should already know either. First, callaloo is NOT collard greens! They are in fact dasheen leaves a.k.a. the leaves of the taro root. I am of trindadian descent and have researched all of the staple dishes. I may be wrong but I have also NEVER seen tomatoes added either. Lastly, where's the blue crab or salted pig tail at homie?! Enough babble, just wanted to clarify...

  • well my mum adds tomato, but that's just cause we really like them! Also, yea, where is the crab and okra....can't have callaloo without okra! :)

  • Oh my god ... this is NOT callaloo!!! I am from the island of Trinidad and callaloo is one of our staple dishes. I ain't askin' ........ I am TELLING you that this is NOT callaloo ...... this idiot is bogus.

  • @Boobzy2003 yeah i don't know wha he doing

  • Anntony's was the first place I ate when I arrived in Charlotte 3 1/2 years ago and I loved the food. I'm now a regular at Anntony's and always order Tony's callaloo greens. They're great as a side with the Cuban Roast Pork and sweet potato fries. The fries aren't on the menu but if you ask they may have them.

  • Two diff things bra. Collards have thick stalks and bid leaves. Callaloo has skinny stalks and small leaves and if you let it grow too long they'll start to bloom flowers.

  • Callaloo is one greens and Collard is another they or not the same!!!!!

  • Never si dis before....mussy a Guyanese ting.
