potassium has 1 valence electron in its 4th energy level. If it looses that electron it becomes stable because now it has 8 valence electrons on its 3rd energy level. If it had gained an electron like u said, then it would have 2 valence electrons in its 4th energy level. that does not make it stable. 1+ means it is giving away one(giving is positive). I- means it is stealing one(stealing is negative). when u give, u lose. when u steal, u gain, hope that helps!
flourine has a 1- so it is gaining. Na has a 1+ so it is losing. 1- means its stealing an electron(stealing is negative). 1+ means its giving away an electron (giving is positive)> Thats how i remember

I love your excitement; this helps in learning. Thank you. Your MgCl2 explaination was so much clearer than my professor taught.

why instead of going to school we just dont watch videos and end it to school is better and you understand it better.

I understand this teacher better than my chemistry teacher.

This is a bit better than school, you can ask for the teacher to repeat what he said and you can just go back!!!!
