What a transcendant video -- the images work beautifully in weaving together the mundane and the tragic with the ethereal nature of the music and hope. I'm not sure what Gorecki's spiritual leanings are -- but this mediation feels like a prayer at the empty tomb of Christ. Love has risen.
I think his music transcends mere religion (whatever one). For me it is a sorrow for Mankind and the human condition, and these are greater than any religion.
@richardseel christianity MAKES suffering cuz dirty goody-twoshoe FAKES like to hide behind god instead of owning up to their moral responsibility as LOGICAL HUMAN BEINGS. so, fuck christians and all other religoius lunatics that can't be adults and be in control of their own morality without having to fantasize an imaginary spirit to make them do or not do things.
yay for rationalism, the true saviour of the future.
So many of us forget that we have a mother in the Virgin Mary, and infinitely more haven't been told about her; about how she knows the surest way to Our Lord Jesus Christ. "If you want to know the best footing on your way up the mountain to Jesus Christ, then pick up a Rosary." -Me
If you want to know the way to the Father remember Jesus' words: "I am the way, the truth, and the life" Sorry, have never read in the Bible "pick up a rosary". However, Jesus did say "when praying do not be saying the same things over and over again". So, ritualistic repetition is not the way to get the Father's attention.
Haunting; heart-breakingly gorgeous.

This must have been one depressing meditation.

Gorecki was Catholic. And this is quintessential to his devotional music: to its gloom --- and to its forgiving and compassionate transcendence.

Yes, indeed. But not without hope...

@mikebdoran We can be when we forget the important things , but we can also create music like this.

Perhaps... but remeber that Gorecki is a Christian and much of his music springs from his faith.
And, for me, Christianity includes and tanscends 'sorrow for Mankind and the human condition'.

@gplus46 It was a response to the comment from p1946

Beautiful music. But honestly i think the images are a little banal.
