  • When you try and book a split ticket they tell you that you HAVE to change... it works on all but Virgin it seems

  • great into

  • This guy can not be straight-so camp!

  • @1starryeyedkid and that's relevant... how?

  • Martin says at the end "specifically 12 weeks in advance".

Surprise surprise, if you go to the National Rail journey planner, you can only book within a 12 week time frame.

  • Very informative - I'm going to give it a go for London to Bristol

  • Martin does it again. He never ceases to amaze. Keep the good work up. Brilliant!

  • Can help with longer journeys, but any kind of regular commute, might not be any use at all.

  • Absolutely correct. I had to travel from Didcot to Birmingham international and return last february.

Using "the trainline" I checked each sector and found that the split points were Oxford outbound and Banbury when returning. Instead of normal return £64 I paid a total of about £34. ie virtually half !!

  • It's a load of bollocks. Doesn't work anymore.

  • yes it does.

  • Blackpool North to Bristol Temple Meads. If you can find that cheaper that 54pounds (with young persons rail card) I'll pay you the difference?

  • It doesn't work for every route. Ask on the moneysavingexpert forums and I'm sure they'll be able to get your journey down.

  • £32.70 i got it for. With two advance singles. It is £53.65 return on the day.

  • i used it last week you fool

  • It just goes to show how stupid the British train pricing really is. :S
