It is a very good performance, but I would agree that is a bit flat and not engaging, perfect but flat, which is disappointing for such a wonderful piece. I wouldn't put it down to the nationality of the performers though, that is a just a silly argument.

While this is indeed a great orchestral performance, it is far too mechanical and has precise rigidity to the notation. The one thing that I always loved about the original soundtracks was the fluidity and groove; which is not present here. But, in the world of orchestral music, rigidity is the goal. And, with German performers, it is like having 100 human metronomes. Great performance, but still a little too stiff.
