  • I heard this brand mentioned in the Hamish Macbeth series.

  • St Bruno flake is a great tobacco originally from Liverpool via Ogdens and of course a city that has produced one or two decent musicians in its time.

  • You know, it's been said that if you were really going to smoke tobacco, do it in a way that would benefit you. And the way it would benefit you is by thinkiing of religious things.

  • This is my favourite pipe tobacco ad is the Condor submarine one. I was going to send the link but looks like you can't put a web link in comments.

  • I like the disclaimer about praying to St. Bruno! LOL indeed...

  • st bruno!!

  • hahaha my names bruno

  • i liked the condor commercial the best

  • have you seen the inglorious bastards movie yet? besides it being an awesome movie, it has a couple pipe scenes in it and a really neat-looking german pipe.

  • Yes, even made a video on it :-)

  • really? where is it posted, i cant find it. id love to see ur opinion

  • Search for: Pipe smoking farmers and nazis in Quentin Tarrantino's new movie

  • Wow those were pretty awesome! And like yourself I give no spiritual thought to smoking except thanking God for the joy of pipe smoking!

  • Bruno. It sounds like a fat, old queen over in D-block.

  • some wiccans believe that when you smoke, you're worshipping the gods of fire

  • Not me, when i smoke I ..uhm..just smoke without any religious or spiritual thought

  • smoking st bruno while i watched this vid :D

  • St, Bruno, Ora Pro Nobis! (Pray For Us)

  • omfg i dindnt know that kujo delivered pipe tobacco i guess there arnt too many killer dog movies he can be in

  • And beer has several patron saints! Good times, dude, thanks!

  • St. Nicholas, no less.

  • The commercial with Eva in it is just so over the top!

  • Yeah it was! That blend sounds good tho.

  • you should sacrify some tobacco each time you fill your pipe for our holy saint bruno

  • St. Marc of the Eternal Briar!

  • Saint-Bruno Flake (another classic that, like Three Nuns and Gold Block, disappeared from the American market when Imperial Tobacco decided to stop trading within US territory) is the only tobacco that ever brought me to the edge of up-chucking, not because it is bad but because, for some reason, it is a nicotine bomb. Or perhaps it was that florid topping.

  • It would be interesting to know why the famous flake is called St Bruno. Perhaps for some sky resort??

There are at least FIVE different St Brunos, of which the most famous is St Bruno of Cologne (1030-1101), founder of the Carthusian Order of monks, whose charterhouse in the Dauphiné (France)makes the famous Chartreuse liqueur. Was perhaps the original St Bruno Flake topped with Chartreuse?

  • St Bruno is my favourite tobacco at the moment. It's readily available in the UK.

  • i always enjoy watching these commercials,, pity they dnt advertise them anymore

    cheers

    ahmad

  • Search "pipe tobacco commercials" to see the others.

  • All hail St. Bruno!

I'm going to start tying pouches of tobacco around the neck of my dog...

  • you should include the links to the videos

  • I marked them as my favorites so you can see them

  • thanks, right after i saw that i searched for st. bruno...it was the first one up....btw....have you seen the simpson's episode with Homer playing as Sir Walter Raleigh?

  • no? Does he smoke a pipe in it?

  • indeed he does...in fact it's the pipe that wins him the watr against the spanish armada earning him the title of "Sir Sir Walter Raleigh"

  • Great commercials!! Thanks for sharing!

  • Haha that first add was a chuckler :)

How do you find the saddle bit on that pipe by the way..? Does it sit in the teeth ok..? Does it suffer from tooth marks much..?

I need to experiment with some different stem types because one of my pipes just doesn't feel right in my mouth..

  • Saddle bits are my favorite!

  • Paul Campbell and others have mentioned Condor and Coniston. These are

superb (again IMHO), and even outdo St Bruno if you're fond of dark-fired

leaf. A number of G&H flakes (e.g. Ennerdale, Kendal) mimic other

characteristics of St Bruno, but in their own unique ways. Ennerdale gives

you that nice "British" scented character on a base of predominately

virginia leaf, while Kendal Flake is roughly similar but uses a variety of

    stronger tobaccos."

  • Saint Bruno flake! One of the most famous British tobaccos. I've never had but it seems to have a reputation as being a stout tobacco. An old post from alt.smokers.pipes:

"And welcome to the glories of St Bruno! This was my staple tobacco for many

years, until it became increasingly difficult to obtain in the U.S. Nothing

duplicates it IMHO, but there are a number of good substitues depending on

the particular nuances your taste buds pick up on.

  • You keep suprising me haha

  • first lol ^^
