  • Bacharach and David was a one of the great all-time song writing teams. And they knew who to get to sing their songs. For me, Dionne Warwick put them on the map!

  • pure emotion

  • You should check out Marilyn McCoo singing ( Wedding Bell Blues ) on Solid Gold.

  • I'm into heavy metal & grunge like Alice in Chains & Metallica but I still love old school soul music this kind of music will never happen again such beautiful music & it's makes me sad those days are gone :.(

  • What a great voice.

  • Two hot women in that group!! The guys were lucky to be working with them!!!

  • Beautiful song ...

  • Amazing! We need more singers like that today. Sidebar, check out Florence LaRue's abs. She was ripped!

  • yea she was gorgeous

  • Great memories, even if I was only 8

  • Greatest female voice of all time?

  • That Billy is one lucky guy!!!!!

  • Ouch! This video (and song, singer, group) is so good it's almost painful. This is top quality music.

  • this is music, heaven and i love rap but this music

  • The depth of the vocals is still stunning. The timbre of Marilyn's voice is the definition of soulful. Just beautiful.

  • I hate to be an oldie, but guys, I still have the 45. (that means the single record and not the whole album.)

  • never saw a better dressed group and i seen them all.

  • they were a great group, i grew up during the time they were very popular, brings back some great memories. this was my favorite song of theirs along with "Bill."

  • 1 person needs to answer the bell for a change.

  • One of the most beautiful voices ever.

  • Billy looks like a linebacker in tighty tights

  • Another great Laura Nyro song. She finally got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I don't know why it took so long!

  • @lonesomeg This is a Burt Bacharach song.

  • I love this song but it makes me cry and miss my mama so much, she enjoyed the 5th Dimension. RIP Mama

  • beautiful...

  • i sang this when i was 12 inn 1977 and i loved her voice this brings back incredible memories!

  • No Lip sinking here...

Let me you do that Britney, Rihanna, Mariah or Janet....

  • I was probably 6 or 7 years old at the time but I can remember thinking how pretty she is and what a great voice she has, and now at age 48 when I think back to a much simpler time I am overwhelmed with emotion when I compare then to now.

  • This would be my suicide song. But, I'm older and wiser, and this is a call for us to realize we can overcome everygoddamned thing that haunts us.

  • Back then music actually meant something. Marilyn Mcoo has such and amazing voice, the "singers" now just can't compare to her. Today everybody just uses auto-tune.

I was born at the wrong time! :(

  • First of " Fuck off ads" second this song is fucking timeless because it is brilliant!

  • my favorite recording of this song thankyou 5th dimension

  • Marilyn McCoo was and is so beaufiful. wow....Wonderful song!

  • haunting

  • She has such a beautiful voice, truly a national treasure.

  • Burt Bacharach wrote some beautiful music!

  • big pipes there.....missy....excellant...love that stuff

  • Been listening to the 5th dimension since they came out. Have several albums. Saw hem live at Universal Amiphitheater in Studio City, CA and at the Ventura Fair about 10 years ago. Very class act. She has an asolutely beautiful voice and style. Still one of my all time favorite groups. A very unique sound. Thanks for posting this;)

  • Gee, so that's Marilyn. What a beautiful angel.

  • Dude I luv the hell out of dis song n I'm only 13

  • This song came out years before I was born, but I still absolutely love it!!

  • One of the greatest songs ever written...

  • What the hell!? Checkout the guy in white, with the huge afro near the bottom right. As the music starts he just grabs the girl next to him, almost snatching her to dance with him. Somebody was desperate that day.

  • This is such a beautiful song. I have always loved this song.

  • now why dont they play this episode of soul train on tv1 instead of the same ole 4 episodes..............any1? any1?

  • @GeorgeJansen I know that's the truth! I was just thinking that, hell I forgot they were even on Soul Train for a minute!

  • Since I was in 6th Grade I have been singing this!

  • I LOVE.............................it !!!

  • Ohhhh Marilyn is divine.

  • The definitive version of truly classic Bacharach song. A golden standard. Thank you for sharing.

  • A rare beautiful voice. magical music, Thank You.

  • I just love this song.

  • Marylin's voice was incredible!! I was 14 when this came out..totally enthralled with it since then. of course burt's genius was a major factor too. timesssly beautiful!!

  • awesome old school song, just leaves me wanting to hear what they could have done live. It would have been GOOD and REAL!! Lip synching is kinda silly, if I wanted to hear the recording I could pull that up anytime.

  • @markbhoward I hear you - the problem is money...there is a great documentary about Soul Train that you should check out that explains, among other things, how much a live performance cost vs. lip synching...remember that this was WAY before MTV, etc., and if you wanted to see the 5th perform it was either live or Saturday on ST...I'm grateful for Don Cornelius and the legacy that he left everyone who loves great music...

  • @kurtmanerz1 They were also trying to sell records so they wanted it to sound like the record. But cost was probably the biggest factor. Most performers also lipsinced on American Bandstand too.

  • Beautiful lady...

  • I want that outfit

  • OTHER THAN DUSTY SPRINGFIELD THIS GIRL IS BEAUTIFUL AND HAS THE VOICE TO GO WITH IT

  • I was ten years old when this song hit the airwaves in spades, and I remember being absolutely enthralled by it. A truly beautiful song and a gorgeous voice. Thanks for posting!

  • Does she have great voice or what?!!!?

  • This lady was and still is something else!

  • Marylin is still a hottie

  • what a beautifully true love song. Once again legends at their best

  • This group was a truly class act. Other acts could learn from them.

  • What a great intimate rendering of this song. Marilyn McCoo is a gem.

    kone

  • SOULLLLLLLLLLLLLL TRAIN !!!!

  • mom you have been gone now for 6 years im not sure how i even remembered this song but i do remember you loved it..so here to you beautiful..love you

  • Nice abs!!!

  • THIS IS THE BEST VERSION!!!

  • hot hot hot

  • Bellissimo!!!!!!!!

  • What a group -- one of a kind.

    This song -- so melancholy.

Some of today's famous music kids should use more-or-less the same song writing formula, bang out some GOOD songs for airplay. There are lots of young songwriters and musicians with really good music nowadays, but they don't get airplay nor contracts, because they aren't doing the things the lousy music producers are doing (auto-tune, rhyming instead of meaningful lyrics, badd boy behavior, etc.)

  • Marilyn McHot!

  • @theDeckisStacked

Thank you, I have a wide taste palate for music!

  • @theDeckisStacked

Stunningly beautiful and what a voice!

  • Never forgot ONE LESS egg to fry WHAT--THAT IS ALL i REMEMBER

  • whos the fat humpback guy?hahahaha...

  • Billy Davis Jr. Blessed man indeed Married To Marlyn for 40 years.

  • She is as good as anyone, Celine, Barbara anyone! She never got the acclaim she should have.

  • Blowfly turned this song into,One Less Dick lol Go Blow!

  • バカラックのやるせぬメロディを、切々歌うマリリン!~5th・ディメンション"悲しみは鐘の音とともに"

  • This song is simply amazing ! The way they SANG it !

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • I love the smoothness of the lead singer's vocals. Beautiful and clear on the lyrics.

  • Great music, nothing like this today! They have been married for over 40 years and they attribute this long marriage to their faith in the Lord.

  • Many songs have that ability to make a person experience again some emotion rooted in some past event or incident oftentimes unrelated to the song's lyrics. In the case of "One Less Bell To Answer," though, the words and the music have even more power, because they express the sadness and regret known by anyone who has seen a relationship end, either his parents or his own.

  • @VolTupungato spot on. every time i hear this song by the brilliant marilyn, I just break down not only because the song is magic but also i have been in a broken relationship. Long live this era

  • I remember when I was about 5 years old, me and my father would always listen to The Fifth Dimension. I remember i once said "Marilyn Mcoo has the most beautiful voice in the world" I believe it's true.

  • You KNOW i LOOK AND I THINK. And I try too establish the general perception of beauty and how do you descibe it best. "In The Beholder '

  • Marylyn McCoo now there is a very classy lady. Back in the day we had a black and white Motorola The picture wasn't the greatest but the sound was good . I didn't need a color TV to enjoy or want to be near her she is the definition of classy. But to my heartbreak she and Billy Davis were together so it was hands off of Marylyn. The 5th Dimension defined the separation from the 60s to 70s In my opinion the 70s were the best decade for music.

  • this is the shit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was too young to know about love but I loved that song. It brings back happy memories of my childhood. I just thought those outfits were soooooooooooo

    cool.

  • She may have one less egg to fry, but she'll eat an extra one eventually....it's called depression love.

  • Such great MUSIC! They've been one of my favorites since Junior High.

  • I've always loved this song and have never stopped singing it to myself. Thanks to the tube, I can now keep playing it over and over. I imagined Marylyn McCoo to be a very beautiful woman and lo and behold...She certainly is!! xx

  • Marilyn had a million dollar voice and such a pretty face!

  • Thanks for posting this forgot about it until last Sunday night when Desperate Housewives played it in the background.

Forgot how great this group was and how beautiful Marilyn Mcoo was.

This sure takes me back to a better time in my life.

  • haunting but bootifully engineered vocally flawless do the artists of today realise

there work could never compete sorry folks but its a sad fact

  • Ohhhhh Marilyn, no one was ever--ever, so in love with you as I was, sitting alone at home, watching you do this song. I was lost in my own world, & there was only --ONLY you & I. Wolfsky9

  • @ 2:00 CHECK OUT THE ABS ON "HER"!!

  • It's comforting to know that ones pain isnt so unique and that you're not the only one to feel this way. Here's evidence of it. Someone wrote this song some 30yrs ago and felt the same way I do. Clearly M. McCoo was able to tap into it as well. So smooth.

  • she's soo fine

  • A great song.. a great group ... too bad it appears to be lip synced to the original recording.

  • She puts so much heart and soul... and her voice is just magnificent.

  • What a Dummy he was...

  • Marilyn was Miss Bronze California. If she did not pursue singing she undoubtedly could have had a very successful modeling career.

  • remember marilyn was a beauty queen in the mid 60's . we know why she couldn't have won miss america. but her beauty and voice would have won hands down.

  • Crying is indeed an understatement when your heart has been torn right out of your chest. Every time I watch this video I cry because the way Marilyn sings it, it gives you a true gaze into heartache. No more picking up her kids at daycare, no more dinners, and no more laughter. This song is indeed a heavy hitter.

  • @swift7oaks...Not much to the rest of the story except mom cried often for the 2 years my brother was stationed in Germany. We all missed him, but not like Mom. This was probably about 1982 or so. Unfortunately, after Mom passed away 14 years ago, the family drifted apart. Thanks for asking.

  • Beautiful Song .. thank you for posting this video .

  • This song defined the the 5th Dimesion. They sang it with great soul and harmony

  • Marilyn ... wow. Thank you for posting, wonderful.

  • The 5th Dimension and Soul Train. Doesn't get much better than this, folks. Thanks for posting.

  • This song is so depressing but WOW IS IT EVER AWESOME!

  • This is a phenomenal song that brings back fond memories of my childhood and as a young white boy I was totally in awe of Marilyn Mcoo's exquisite

    voice and her beauty.

  • @MrSmokeydog

I have never personally seen a white boy, unless he was an albino.

Do you mean Caucasian , as in Pink, with no Melanin?

    Just asking..

  • @emanxavier Whatever I guess growing up in Oakland and being called White Boy or White Dude or White Guy was better than being called a Honkie. but that's

the scene from the other side Brother.

  • @MrSmokeydog - She was stunning in every sense of the word.

  • @MrSmokeydog: I was right there with you, man. I was 14 at the time and completely taken by her. Unfortunately for us, she was already taken by Billy Davis. But, what a couple. That was such a better time and she made it that much better.

  • @MrSmokeydog You were not alone.

  • @MrSmokeydog

    you weren't the only one..

  • @MrSmokeydog Your not the only one man...her voice, soo great...

  • SUCH natural raw talent and delivering with such genuine feeling, the facial expression.I am at a loss for words SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL

  • Pure & simple ! This is by far one of the best written & performed songs of it's era! The Lyrics, The harmony, & the power of Marilyn's Voice makes for the Perfect song! I think even our youth could feel this one! "Classic!

  • This song came on the radio after my mother & I dropped my brother off at the intake center for the Army. Mom started crying & had to pull over. People were staring at us and one person even asked me if she was okay. I had to drive her home because she couldn't regain her composure for a long while that day. What a memory. Thanks.
