either you guys are cooking some popcorn in the backround, or its raining, lol, i'm pretty sur eits raining, but you never know....lol, jk, good video
Kinda overkill with 8000+ horsepower and only 3 cars...unless 1 of the P-42's was broken, 90% probability of that...lol! 5***** great video and awesome horn!
I like how the bells in the USA stop ringing when the gates are down, here in Australia they keep going which ruins good recordings of trains passing. and anyone that lives near tracks hears them all night! that would shit me!
In australiia the trains don't use horns much even with whistle posts or crossing signs by railway crossings and not much horn action unlike in Brazil or US Mexico or Canada
You are right, we dont have the strict rules in place like the U.S for horn usage, our National horn code is One long, one short. but is also at the drivers descretion, if a crossing is seen to be safe and clear the horn is only used once or twice, if it is seen to be occupied by a pedestrian or vehicle, the horn is commonly used much more. i think the U.S's , (long long short long) code is too much for some remote areas. especially with todays crossings and the volume of horns.
Short Texas Eagle - because of all the flooding in Missouri and Arkansas at the time, people were being bussed from Little Rock to St. Louis and caught the train there.

@aussietraindriver
It doesn't make things much better, since every train needs to blow their horns at crossings... I am not sure does it apply on night time, but still.

Cool! Two engines only to pull three cars! You're a hard core railfan! You stay railfanning eventhough it is raining! Good job!

And the saddest part is that was just about 6% of the entire operable/available P42 roster. :-P

Was this a Lincoln Service with superliners or a short Texas Eagle?
