  • Question about the Blackjack unit, it seems very loud in the vid., is it actually that loud? In the trouble shooting section of the owners manual, they mention a shipping screw in the bottom of the unit, that must be removed, prior to use, and that if it is left in ,it may cause excessive noise, does that apply here, or is it just that loud? How long have you been using it, I am considering purchasing one, any feed back would be welcome. Thanks, and nice job.

  • @render8

No, It is not as loud as it sounds in the video.

Yes, there is a screw that needs to be removed on this unit before using ( It was removed ).

I have had mine for over a year and no issues as of yet.

Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed :)

  • my PS3 just died this afternoon. Might give this a shot this weekend. I have none of your tools so I need to make a shopping list. Can the hot air be supplied by hair dryer?

  • @captainjoel17

No, a hair dryer will not reflow the chip properly.

If you would like to ship it to us we can do the repair for you. Please PM me for details.

  • @CPRcomputersDirect how much do you charge to get ps3 YLOD fix if not just tempoarly? Mine if a orignal PS3 40 GB model.

  • great video. I have the same hot air rework station as you... 2 questions. What number air pressure did you use? and what tip did you use? Thanks in advance

  • @survivalfreek Thank you, you do not want the air pressure much higher than 60. This helps focus the air on just the chip you are reflowing. The tip you want to use is the one that is closest to the size of the chip you are reflowing (but be sure the tip is NOT bigger than the chip) . This helps to eliminate the cooling off of sections of the chip while moving the hot air gun around. It's best if you have the chipset attachments for the specific chipset.

  • Awesome vid! I think my PS3 was running a little hot this summer, I'm afraid I'll have to do this soon :)

  • @J3n555

Thanks, lets hope you don't have to!

  • @CPRcomputersDirect Guess what? It just died. I will try this since we got a hot air gun at home, but first I'll show my father the vid so he can help me out.

I tell you how it went later

  • Although I have not run into this issue, my son has one and if it does happen to his unit I will have watched a great video to repair it. Thanks for the video!

  • @gerald2003r

    Your welcome!

  • Great PS3 repair video on the yellow ring of death. I watched your 8800GT reflow video and fixed a broken BFG 9800GTX video card. Thanks for your easy to follow along video. Keep up the good videos.
