  • Great tune. I've been trying to locate a copy of Terry Crawford's version of this from Good Girl Gone Bad.

  • I still have my album! This song just floods my memory of times past!

  • I worked with Chubby as his soundman briefly for several dates back in the mid 80's. When I was asked to do the gig I had some preconceptions about "this guy who started the twist", and thought this was going to be a cheesy nostalgia show. The only thing cheesy were the 50-something groupies in their spandex...Chubby was amazing! He performed the obligatory hits, but at that time he had a complete album's worth of material that was reminiscent of James Brown...and the man can SING!!!

  • Yes, Chubby at his best. I saw his show in Laughlin 2009. A great energetic and varried show. He came out after the show to sign autographs. A real gentleman.

  • This should have been a HUGE hit record ! Everything about this performance just sweeps you up and propels you along...irresistible !!!

  • @Delfan1961 It was a huge hit comeback, along with "Harder than Diamond", both were his biggest and only truly contemporary Rock songs he ever did years after his "Twist"...pity he didnt continue in this vein...to say the least!

  • @cathytreks ...actually, Chubby had a Billboard & Cash Box "Top 100" chart hit, in 1969, with his cover of The Beatles "Back In The USSR", although it didn't reach the top half of the charts. Although "Running" did well in some markets, it just crept onto the bottom of the national charts...a real shame as it was a terrific performance.

  • @Delfan1961 you don't have to sell me on Chubby, I have seen him perform 6 times and know him, I even have a video of him I posted here on YT, friend!

    Cheers from Freemans Bay Newzealand,

    Kia Ora!

  • ...A very over looked single, ( I have the 7" single on MCA records), from the fabulous Twister man!! The melody is awesome & Chubby sounds terrific, & that KILLER chorus!! *****STARS!! Gary in PA USA.

  • I have always thought that this was Chubby at his best, doing serious material rather than silly dance songs. "The Change Has Come" was a great (but overlooked) album by a highly underrated artist. Thank you so much for posting this great video..

  • You can see the solid gold segment at kilfinane55 - I was Chubby ' s guitar player at the time and have posted it and some others at this address. I hope you enjoy them - All the best - Robbie Walsh

  • I recall Chub performing this song on Solid Gold. Also from the "Change" album was a minor album rock tune "Harder than Diamond".

  • chubby's the man!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. This a great song. The "Change Has Come" is a great lost album.I wish it was available on CD. Sadly I saw Chubby just a few years after this was out and he didn't play this in his show.I talked to him after the show and asked him about it and how much I'd wished he had played it.He looked a little sad and said "New band...and you know people don't wanna hear that from me."Too bad he is a very talented guy who made an excellent album that got lost in his legend.

  • Nice job guys... like the guitar playing... great job as usual Robbie!

  • Another great song from his Change has Come album, a sadly overlooked album from the early 80's.

  • Wade Preston on piano, Sammy Merindino on drums, Joe Martinez on Bass, Robbie Walsh on Guitar and Roy Robertson on Sax. It was Feb, 1982

  • Wow...him singing a song that wasn't some stupid dance. Amazing.

  • I was 9 years old when I saw this on Fridays. Then several months later when the re-run came on the air, I made sure to have my stupid tape record next to the TV so I could record this song. The bad recording I made of the song picked up my older brother trying to make goofy noises on the recording (jackass). When I told my mom that I liked Chubby Checker, she said "He's as old as the hills!"

  • where can i get this lyric? i really love this song

  • This is one of my alltime favorite songs...it's great to see Chubby Checker singing it

  • This is great! How come I've never heard this before? What show was this on? Can you still get the album or CD?

  • That was from the old show, "Fridays"...ABC's take on "Saturday Night Live". Been looking for this one a long time! Thanks!!!
