  • Treats are the only motivator for my little Maltese.. could anyone recommend any Lower-calorie treats that I could give my dog often while I train her >.> ..has anyone tried vegetables or fruits?

  • AMAZING! My bro has been teaching my little shih tzu the command for about 2 or 3 weeks and now he can lie down on command!

  • WHAT i did was funny to teach my dog this... I pretended i was a dog... and put her ball on the table... Then i lied down and i said "Liedown" Basiclly she was gonna copy what i was doing.

Then she lied down then i gave her the ball...Then eventually when i say liedown she does it !

  • @Tommo506 Rhodesian Ridgeback :)

  • it didnt work because u dont have GSD

  • what breed it the brown dog?

  • Its amazing how fast dogs can understand what to do, you could teach a trick for like 2-5 minutes and they've got it down like that ( with treats of course) .

  • Thanks. My 18 month old GSD rescue figured it out in one 10 minute session. To those who are having trouble a good motivation is to make sure your dog is hungry.

  • It didnt work all she did was stare at me

  • @brianna3651 Lol at least you're puppy had its attention on you. Mine just seems to glance elsewhere.

I've been trying for hours on end..

She can sit.. but lying down.. eeeh... . ._.'

  • We got it on the first repetition.

  • Remember to bet 20 bucks!!

  • i tried to make my dog lay down after watching this video i got to say it worked for me maybe getting my dog to stay might be little hard ?

  • i like this video i think your a good dog trainer by what i saw of this video i just got a pit bull puppy 3months old from the spca i had the puppy for a month and a half now time to train looks like you have lots of videos i will watch the others too have a good day?!!!!!!!!

  • my dog will just sit there and stare at the treat

  • My dog's a retard and won't do it

  • rhodesian rigeback?

  • unlike the wolves, dogs suck at visual cues. vocalized commands give best results.

  • is that a rigenon ridge back?

  • 20 bucks right, yu better send it to me

  • my dog just stands up

  • my dog is a english bulldog she only uderstands hand signs

  • All my dog does when I try to do this is try to grab the treat from my hand... -_-

  • ok guys in order to teach your dog this command it must first learn sit.

  • Not working

  • my dog the moment she lays down she hops back up in like two seconds

  • My dog will sit...for a second. On the other hand she learned "touch" really quickly. Laying...that's gonna take a while.

  • that brown dog looks like skits from martha speaks lololol

  • Omg, thank's! i used my male chihuahua for this trick and i had the push his back down a couple of times but soon he caught on and he figured out what i wonted him to do! and he start laying down by himself when i told him to. . . . . P.S i used cheese for the treat :) So Thank you so much i wont to get my chihuhua to learn more tricks so im going to subscribe :) He nows how to sit but now he nows of to lie down to, so once more thank you so much! You really helped me, so thanks agian! :D!!!!!!.

  • mine doesnt do that mine just takes it from my hand

  • my 9 month old puppy is really playful and will not do it. He wont even sit. what do i do,

  • @sirdude970 Calm him down by scratching behind his ear, then show him a treat and then teach him :D

  • my dog only sits and lays down when i say and sign the command but not when i do either alone

  • Another tip is train them when they're hungry.

  • thanks so much my puppy did it on the first try :)

  • the first time after u get them to sit lightly push them laying then give them the treat they should catch on

  • Its sooo frustrating!! Those dogs already know how to lie down. My dog only puts his nose to the floor!!! This does not work!! Next time she should use an untrained dog in this video because it is not that simple at all.

  • Good video. Private uk number plate on ebay DOG LOVE ( DO6l OVE )

  • My maltese is having a very hard time with this :( Whenever i do this, she tried to shake or give paw, then when she DOES do it right, she gets bored and won't do it again. Any advice??

  • what breed is this dog?

  • @carlospiceyweiner100

    Ridgeback.

  • I have to take the easy way out and adopt one that already knows the tricks. :)

  • @juanuqz9292 i have a shih tzu who knows how to sit, sit pretty, give paw, spin(chase tail) n high 5 and a char-pei who can comunicate with cats by grunting and i love cocka spaniels

  • UGHHHHH didnt work all she did was wen i put thetreat on the flore she just puts her head on the flore she doesnt move her front legs what so ever help

  • @TheFizzyfrog i have a yorkie and had the same problem. &it took a while but i had to lightly push him down the first few times until he got it..now hes good

  • @TheFizzyfrog Doesn't mean it didn't work!

  • @TheFizzyfrog move it forward, and if that doesn't work, just push a little on their shoulders, not too much, but enough to let them know what you want.

  • @TheFizzyfrog put the treat inbetween the front legs and drag it towards you

  • @TheFizzyfrog u must have patience.... i got it to work, so why shouldn't u?

  • @MonstersBane yea thats what mine does

  • problems with my dog is when i try and do that he stands up and try to eat the treat and when i tell him to lay down HE GIVES ME THE PAW any help please?

  • @andrewl3779 i'd try saying `no' or shaking ur head when he/she gives paw and when he/she eats the treat tap not hit the nose it wont hurt ur dont it will just give him/her the idia she/he shoudnt be doing it

  • @TheFizzyfrog even i say no he says the same thing i dunno about nose tapping il try that

  • WHENEVER I TAECH MY DOG TO LIE DOWN HE KEEPS HIS HAND ONTO THE TREAT

    WATSHLOULD I DO PLZ HEPL

  • Thanks, my dogs can sit, give paw and beg.

  • When you teach your dog a new trick and they finally do it by themselves the first few times, is there an amount of time you should wait before starting a new trick?

  • Help! When I do that my dog just sticks his butt up and yes he sits when i do it but he still sticks his butt up

  • @juanuqz9292 good post you made me laugh, thanks

  • I have a 3 month puppy and i've alredy teach her to sit, i was just trying to make her lay down and this actually works. I reward her with bread because she gets waaay to distracted with the puppy crackets or meat.

    She's learning great! thanks a lot! :)

  • My pup has been through two 8 week training courses (1 private and 1 group) and lay was never accomplished consistently. As a chihuahua she will ONLY lay on a soft padded surface... My other chis are exactly the same. This video helped a lot (yes the dog is very obviously pretrained).

  • Dude your dog is deffinitly pre trained. My dog just bites my hands or stands back up

  • all my dog does is watch me signal him down but he doesnt actually do it xD he knows hit to sit and stay but i'm having trouble with the down command

  • I need some help! I get my puppy into the sit-that bit is fine. But when I put the food on the ground she just trys to eat the food out of my hand. I tried pushing her back down to get her into the position and then say LAY DOWN but that didn't really help! So what do I do?

  • My chi can not lay down but will lay down only on carpet PLEASe what can i do???

  • HI NANCY, YOU ARE HOT..

    may kiss you???

  • @MrTomkaboy *rolls eyes*

  • Hey thanks my 9 week old siberian husky well he never sat or laid down he just tried jumping but i have been using ur trick and he is very good at it he knows sit and lie down! thanks!

  • I just bought a ridgeback, shes coming home on sunday. You've got a really nice one there :)

  • :(, i tried doing this, but everytime i would try and put the treat down the front of her chest she wouldn't lie down she would just try to reach down with her neck even further and then eat it, am i doing something wrong?

  • @Kirbly yeah the same thing happened to me :'(

  • This video totally helped me..thanks a bunch for posting it!

  • By the looks the mark on maya's back ,she seems like a Thai Ridgeback.

  • mark it with the S??

  • I've been trying to yeah my puppy and no I don't use a clicker or hand signals he knows how to sit but he won't lie down because his tetmething now an just wants to bite every thing in sight

  • I already began training my dog. And i added the word the first time. Can I just restart?

  • my dog is 12 is that to old

  • @Thedirtyc0w 12 weeks?

  • how old is your dog because mine are 6 are they to old to learn?

  • @bolobeardog No? They're still young, go for it! (:

  • ugh Not fan of using treats to train dogs.. Anyway

@people with young dogs a few months old its usually best to wait when they are at least a little older

  • @DaMonkey11 No, you need to train you dog/puppy, as much as you can, as soon as you can, but they can learn at any age, just it'll be easier with a puppy.

  • @LexiBuddyAgility By not training a few months old I mean 2months and younger and I don't mean the basics like potty training and etc but I would wait on doing stuff like sitting, heeling, laying. Thought I admit I could be mistaken since my father is the expert (Military dog trainer for over 28+ years) so I still go to him for tips. thought if I am my bad

  • you are so gay u need to teach the dog the word lay down. what type of trainer are u

  • my dog runs

  • my dog doesnt listen... i barely got him 3 days ago hes pretty young idk how old bt hes kinda scared 2 get 2 any1 any solutions to make him listen?

  • my dog just scratches and bites my hand... if not, jump around T_T

  • Wait was the dog trained already ...ive tried it with by lab puppy but he doesnt get it..though he knows how to sit already

  • @RosiePosie32 yes, the dog was trained before, do you clicker train? That'd help if you want a positive way to train the down with NO hand signal, just the word, in this video the dog isn't learning the command, shes basically luring her all the time, you want the down to be given w/out the hand signal, or a slight hand signal with no word. You shouldn't need to use both. (:

If you want some tips on teaching him down, pm me. :)

  • How do you make the dog do it with hand signals

  • @ChicaRocs123 - SHE JUST SHOWED IT TO YOU.

  • @straightupBO she already has her dog trained

  • kewel 1:22

  • did u teach the dog to lay down in this video or did it know already how to lay down , but just wanted to show us how it worked ?

  • u can train my dog

  • Damn. It's a lot harder to train my baby Pug... He doesn't know what the hell's going on. I finally got him to sit though! That's a start.

  • That's bullshit that dog had already been thoroughly trained.

  • my 14 week old border collie just took 10 minutes to learn sit and down!

im so excited for her-shes amazingly smart! thanks for the video

  • I tierd it it work but turns out she had puppies :]

  • THANK YOU!

  • my dogs is 2 months old malti-poo and she doesn't listen to me.she bites my hand all the time

  • My bulldog already sits, wave, shake and heels but... when I try this method, he just crawls backwards to get the food, help?

  • I try to lower the treat to the ground so he'll lie down from his sit position, but he lowers his head but raises up his butt... and also he nibbles at my fingers X____x His concentration is on the treat and not any of the things I say to him o.o

  • @theantikikyo Same With My Dog, I have Tried everything, He just licks the treas in my hand and puts his head to follow it and doesnt lie down :P

  • thank you so much nancy i worked i tawt my dog to lie down if u look on my page in a couple days you can c wut u helped me do

  • I keep trying to lure my dog to go down but he doesn't ! what should I do?

  • thanks m,y 2 month old lab puppy is doing it

  • i´ve got to try this one,,

  • wtf is mark it with a yes

  • @harrykid98

Reward with a treat, nice light voice, and head rubs.

  • yea my 5 months cocker spaniel just bends her neck downward for the treat.

  • @mEwAtChTvAlOt

My dog just goes crazy and paws at my hand...

  • I've tried that with my rott and hes not really doing it.

  • Thank you so much. My pug got it right away.

  • my dog is like 2 months old hes a belgian malinois shepherd and he just bites my hand

  • @maingunsx - Good.

  • @maingunsx thats why we must teach our dog the commands to stop

  • @maingunsx you gotta teach him not to bite you, or mouth you

  • @maingunsx yea mine do that 2 but for them there have a puppy there do that put ur hand soft behind her head and help her/him abit keep doing it and mine learned it really fast with that.

  • this video is a bit vague - as it doesn't explain how to get the dog to lie down in the first place. :P

  • My dog is 6 years old....can i learn him to do that...??

  • thanks, my beagle got that right away. :)

  • how do u get the hand signal thing going?

  • I cant get my dog to lie down, when i set the food near the ground after he sits he just tries to eat it or he walks away from my hand.

  • that looked so simple. =D

I hope I can teach katie my husky this

  • yes me to, my chihuahuas sniff the food and trie to get it from my hand, and also with the sitting,i put the food over their head but they would jump to get from my hand

  • This method totally worked!!!

  • Ugh my dog doesn't do that :(

He is very very short. He's part wiener dog, part chihuahua. So he just sniffs and tries to get the treat when I put it down on the ground like that. Can someone help me?

  • My dog is short too, until I just tried saying the word and I actually got her to do it. She's a little bit bigger than your dog, because she's a shih tzu, and does the same thing, but it worked! She now lays down when I tell her too.

  • Yeah well i always try to say it.. So all u did was say "lie down" and she lied down? D: yeah so not gonna work with me :(

  • can i have ur number?

  • also make sure when you dog does go "down" its a propper down. YES there is a right and a wrong down. If you look in the video the first time the big dog goes down, that is sorta inccorect. (that is conisdered a pounce position) and propper down would be if the dog is sort of resting on its back legs...

  • my dog won't listen to anything as soon as i try to teach her she's a small dog miniature pinscher and it's like as soon as we try and teach her something it's like she blocks every command we taught her!!! we tried to force her to lie but then ends up being a fail!!! what to do??????

  • try training her in short bursts and only when she is calm and relaxed. Calm and relaxed makes all the difference in the world :)

  • my dog was the same then i watched the show "its me or the dog" and i saw the lady wouldnt let the dog move or do what he wanted until he sat. i tried this with my dog and it worked beautifully

  • for you to train a dog u need to have patience with your dog...another way could teach your dog is by puttin the leash on your dog while he is laying down the the word donw give her or him the treat and say good boy or girl n practice with ur dog couple of time until he or she gets it

  • I have a small, old dog and she just sits there. She knows how to sit but when I try to lure her into "down" she just bends her neck far down and gives up. What should I do?
