i was there last year and had the exact same thing...thunder/lightening etc too. Noticed they have bog all drains on the streets there which is why it just builds up. We enjoyed the experience of it...lasted a couple of days for us mind you! The sun came back then tho :)

ye it was CRAZY... rained for about 15 min and water ALL over... was just blue sky then BOOM.
