ATTENTION: this is a Dole Gudbrandsdal horse wich is a norwegian breed. These horses were used for hard core working on the fields and in the woods :D its a wonderfull family horse and is wonderfull with kids!

@caswombat You will notice that the horse is not even in a stall, and is most likely about to be groomed or saddled--which is when cross tying is implied. Its not cruel and its not used for long periods of time. The next time you attempt to saddle a horse, please try to do so when the horse is not secured! I've been riding for almost 30 years, and have never witnessed any of the cruelty that animal activists seem to love screaming about.

@UnseelieQueen EVERY time I saddle, unsaddle, rug, unrug, collect my horse from the paddock and put him back- is while unsecured. My horse Wants to be with me, I don't have to worry about him taking off on me, spooking at the girth or whatever because I spend a lot of time preparing him for life, building relationship, respect and trust. Because this is the norm for me, I find much strange that many others find acceptable/necessary- like cross tying for control and safety. Weird!

Not a Norweign Fjord, solid color faces without the mealy nose etc. & their manes are tri's (white on each side with a black streak down the middle) the hair's very coarse & stands straight up even if the manes are quite long. I can't recall the name, but it is a rare larger pony breed, on the right track, hope we can discover it soon, I've only seen 3 while i was in Europe years ago
