Irresponsible to offer cars like this. For one thing, there's the large tax bill that you'd be given if you won. Then who can afford to pay insurance on it? And all the added gas. Youre just giving a prize that the "winner" can't possibly afford.

I don't think you get the point of the Golden Road game... it's not just a "normal" game they drag out regularly. It's one that offers spectacular prizes (luxury cars, motorhomes, etc.).

Even if you can't afford the tax bill on the car, accept the damn thing and sell it. You'll still make a load of cash.

If I recall correctly, there was nothing to do with animal rights, testing or anything of the sort in not giving Porsches away.

They were just caught in the "American only" rule circa late 1992-93 like the rest of the foreign car brands.

There were three other times I've seen either on TV or on YouTube itself, where a Porsche was offered on The Price Is Right. In 1989, a contestant won one playing 3 Strikes drawing just one strike. The infamous Toni 3 Strikes playing followed three years after that. Then there was the Lucky Seven Porsche playing on one of the Drew Carey MDS-episodes, and here on this clip.

I miss the days of audience entrances for games such as Golden Road (among others). If audience entrances were still done, Drew wouldn't have made the kind of entrance he did today. I didn't like it, because he does so many "different" and terrible entrances, this one left a bad taste in my mouth. If this was his first (or even second) "different" entrance, I would not have minded it so much.

That's probably it. In Season 36 they went HD for primetime. Now it's all HD.

Drew taped a few shows this season while injured so some openings were made with the injured Drew -- the go-cart, dirt bike, and other entrances were made while he was hurt.  Some game procedures changed when Drew taped his shows with the injury.
