The book is so creepy with a lot of shall we say "adult themes". Very surprising they decided to make a musical of it, though it has been changed a lot.
@miniwidge well we do know her face xD but since mary poppins and the sound of music aren´t very popular here we don´t know her name. people would probably be like "wahh- isn´t that that grandma from princess diaries?" when they saw her ;)
@Raffi705 you´ve seen all the others life? japanese, german, british, dutch..etc.etc....wow!! o.O can people stop writing these kinds of comments, please? -.-

Start of the run- Idina's voice had time to recoop after Rent. As time passed, her voice got... worse. In her start in London, though, she sounded amazing.
Idina's voice sounds so much... purer in this defying gravity. If you listen to this- then to the performance at the Tony's (for example), it just shows you how much the role can effect your voice! I have the utmost respect for all Elphaba's.
She is flying without a broom because for some reason that Happened in a scene before it opened on Broadway, That is a clip from the pre-broadway try-out, before they changed the script.
The musical was great, but the book was almost totally different. I believe the book was better but that's kind of a given. My advice is to watch the musical first then read the book. One will not spoil the other.
Elphaba wasn't recast between San Francisco and Broadway. As far as I know, the parts were: The Wizard (Robert Morse to Joel Grey), Boq (Kirk McDonald to Christopher Fitzgerald), Dr. Dillamond (John Horton to William Youmans), and the ensemble/Elphaba understudy track (Stephanie J. Block to Kristy Cates).
wow... at the bjcc i met glinda boq chistery and madam morrible... it was the best day of my life, no joke
