  • Wow what a waste of my time .

  • They are getting worse. You know cops commit more sexual abuse ie rape than the general population? Something to ponder about. Arm yourself with knowledge and your 2nd Amendment right.

  • Are officers required to identify themselves upon request? DEPENDS. Some states have laws requiring presentation of a police ID card, but there are generally conditions

Do officers have to state the reasons for an arrest at the time of arrest? No, see Devenpeck v Alford.

Are you allowed to approach an officer dealing with someone else and demand answers to questions? Generally, no. These actions can be considered Obstruction / Interfering / Disorderly Conduct. See per state statutes.

  • I like cops just as they are - stupid.

A bright cop could be problematic.

  • @ll1lI Sorry that your world doesn't exist, but none of those are true or else the whole country would fall to shit.

  • @FalloutZombie2010 The USA fell to shit a while back.

Did you blink and miss it?

  • @ll1lI You were not even alive when it did. Its been like this since 1933 when the country went bankrupt and strated borrowing money from a Private Central Bank called the fedral reserve.

  • Oh and for future reference a police officer only has to identify himself if you are in the back seat like that guy was or if you are a victim of something but since you were neither he can ignore you just like he did you guys are idiots.

  • @salmonmcmannis No I think you are the bigger enemy to us. So I guess you wouldn't defend yourself or try to stop someone if they tried to break into your house. You ignorant fool!

  • "Following the arrest when approached, Oakland Police were neither forthcoming in the reasons for the arrest, or for their identity"

The police have no obligation to disclose that information. for privacy reasons sometime they arent even allow to disclose that

  • @badpanda84 Exactly - you can't have cops feeling they have to answer every person who asks for their ID - that's ridiculous. The videographer had absolutely nothing to do with the arrest.

  • the officer does not have to tell you nothing since you were not involved in the incident.

  • @jnloredo Yet if it was the other way around you would be arrested for obstructing justice.

  • @zachyboy13528 unlikely, unless you put yourself into the incident like it seems you have, so yes you may subject yourself to arrest.

  • SO a cop can snatch you of the street and demand your name but we can't demand theirs? THey chose that job, they should put up with the bullshit.

  • @philateliceun They should put up with YOUR bullshit? You chose to say this shit on youtube, does that mean I can go up to you EVERY day, and harass you about this comment?

  • @mtndewmurderer Well yeah. I posted this comment on a public forum, if you want to respond on this forum to that comment you can, I put it up here fully knowing other people read it and may comment on it. And seriously are you saying cops shouldn't endure bullshit? So wait, they CHOOSE to SERVE and protect the PEOPLE and they don't want to be bothered by PEOPLE interacting with him? People are annoying, its just a fact of life, if you don't want to be annoyed don't interact with people.

  • @philateliceun "People are annoying, its just a fact of life, if you don't want to be annoyed don't interact with people."

Which is what the cops did -- they simple drove off -- they didnt interact with those bystanders -- and the cop had no obligation to answer there questions

  • you know.... i just realised something.. Under the Harrassment issue on youtube's policy this video can be flagged for promoting hatred/violence. so now i'm going to be ''that guy'' and find every cop watching video and go ahead and flag it. If you also hate these stupid no job no life fuckers please do flag with ''promoted hatred and violence'' reason being ''clearly stating police are untrustworthy and should follow them and not allow them to keep us safe''

  • @Bloodhoun34Returns you dumbfuck ppl are doing these do protect the rights of people to assemble. Look at all the police brutality and maybe you'll get it but probably not.

  • Civil servant does not mean your servant. Where do dumb asses come up with this shit. You don't just get to go order cops around because they work for the people" good lord your stupid. Cops don't work for the people unless you consder they enforce the laws that the people may vote on and pass. FYI this jobless douche does not pay the cops salary.

  • They have no obligation to tell you anything. You were acting like a douche and they were totally professional dispite your acting like a bitch.

  • Why the fuck would he give you his name.... He has no obligation to you to present to a crazy kid with a camera his freaking identity.. Why, just so you can look him up and find his address? F' no, good. glad he didnt. and by the way, how stupid are you to think he should?

  • I'm confused!! Why did you need his name and what were you planning on doing once your got it?? Do you give your name out to every stranger that ask's!!! Why should he. Get a job, loser!!!

  • Outlaw the F.O.P.

  • Everyone is just out to make a video these days. And with saying that, comments will flood in of people saying "If we don't police the police we will be taken advantage of...."..etc. I'm sure walking up to a scene that does NOT involve you makes the cop feel really safe. Why wouldn't they just tell people who have no need to know what's going on the full details of what has happened? Right...?

  • You guys in this video seriously need to learn some proper business etiquette and professionalism, take off your hat, throw on a suit and get a fricken job - you obviously have wayyyyyyy too much time on your hands. And the funny thing is you say the cops are the ones harassing people? LOL ok… You must make your parents so proud. "Son, did you finally land a job?" Son responds, "Yes, dad I am a cop watcher now! Making zero dollars and hour but guess what? I get to annoy people who have a job."

  • Police have a duty to give you their badge number, just as citizens have a duty to give the police their name if asked.

  • ignorance!!!! educate urself ppl. why would he answer your questions? if ne thing they were nice to all, getting in their personal space. as a l.e.o myself, that would of been a no go.they did the right thing by jst driving away.

  • California Penal Code Section 830.10

"Any uniformed peace officer shall wear a badge, nameplate,

or other device which bears clearly on its face the identification

number or name of the officer."

  • @jwoo707 KNOWLEDGE! thank you. if they don't identify themselves, how do we know they aren't IMPERSONATING PEACE OFFICERS. we need to protect ourselves and our family members from harm, especially from CRIMINAL IMPERSONATION.

  • Any cop that doesn't give their badge number willingly works for the 1%... (edited by deletion... w00t!)

  • What a ridiculous video.

  • These people are complete idiots by harassing the cops. Is funny how people talk shit about cops but when they are in danger who do they call? ;)

Another thing this country gives too many rights to thugs just going out there and do whatever they want. All those crime areas should be like a police state.

  • Yeah so

  • These officers keep you in peace. Imagine if places like Oakland, LA, NY city, had no cops?. You would break-into each others' house/apartment rape one another and murder. Fact. Have some respect for these brave men and women.

  • lmfao...kids these days are so fucking stupid...quit smokin weed u dumbass punks.

  • I see a bunch of people making excuses for cops lack of respect and bad attitude. You guys are a disgrace to freedom and your not far from being boot lickers.

  • You fucking useless idiots. The cop had no interaction with you. Ordering him around as if you have some authority - what a joke!

  • @jvangurp Of course they have authority, you ignorant tool. Who pays those cops paychecks? Taxed citizens do. Those cops work for us and if they can't be held accountable, or if they somehow behave as if they are above the law then they don't deserve that check, they don't deserve a badge.

  • @princeadakias "Who pays those cops paychecks? Taxed citizens do."

That is bullshit -- if that were really true then in theory if you pay the cops paycheck you can fire the cops too.

But we all know that isnt the case...

Also that imply that if you lose you job ( or dont pay taxes ) then they cops dont work for you -- that also means that homeless people have no rights to call the cops either

  • @badpanda84 you clearly do not understand how a modern society works. Which is very odd considering you're in one. How about participating and educating yourself about these fundamental facts?

The citizens pay taxes, these taxes pay for policing, roadworks, unemployment etc, they cover all citizens. Policing is supposed to be a publicly funded force - although JP Morgan bought the NYPD. That is called "corruption". It would be worse without badge numbers.

  • @Conranify I know -- but my point is I often hear people say "'the police work for ME because I pay taxes."

but they are clearly wrong because police dont work only for taxpapers but for everyone..

The point is that people often claim -- "I paid the cops paycheck --therefore they I have the right to order them to do whatever the fuck I want

  • @jvangurp lol who do you think the police work for dimwit? Thats right, the public....Morons like yourself think working for the government means you're above the law. Cops do have to identify themselves by law, go look it up.

  • @jvangurp love you :)

  • Comment removed

  • @jvangurp He pays their wages. That surely gives him some authority. Plus the cop is a public servant, he's the public...therefore...

  • @jvangurp Hey Retard. There's a reason why they are called civil SERVANTS!!! It's because they allegedly work FOR THE PEOPLE. If one of those people asks their servant a question, common sense says the servant should answer.

  • There are public servants the people pay there salary that gives them all the authority

  • @jvangurp the way you say the cop had no interaction with you, makes it sound as if its a privilege, the police are meant to be servient to the people they protect and if you feel they are not doing this then its completely with in your right to ask for his name and police number

  • @420Harlequin If a person who is arrested or in discussion or is somehow interacting with a cop then yes of course the cop has to identify him/herself. You can't expect to have cops respond to each and every single uninvolved bystander who demands ID. How could they do their job if they're expected and required to respond everytime some uninvolved bystander ask for their badge number? There's really no reason for the videographer to have to know the datails. The videographer wasn't charged etc.

  • @jvangurp ive never know random people to ask random police officers there names, with that said your name is hardly long to say or a mass amount of "details" just a means to IDENTIFY

  • @420Harlequin The Copwatch guy is a random guy - just a bystander with an agenda. He has no special status or privilege.

  • @jvangurp the cop is just a random guy with an agenda, i dont consent i am a freeman

  • @420Harlequin If the cop is also just a random guy with an agenda why would he have to answer you? You can't have it bother ways.

  • @jvangurp no my point is, until the police man identifys him self as the person/police man he says he is, he is just random guy so why give them your trust, especialy in this case where there happened to be a witness to the unlawful arrest before the camera started recording the actual incident...you can he him say that just chucked him the back of the car for no reason............its good to know that people just shut up and listen to authority, without question.

  • @jvangurp the police only have special status or privileges once you consent to being governed by the police, you have the right to reamian silent, but if you tell them your fictional CAPITAL LETTERS NAME (your person) then they can impose the statues and acts(law of the sea) created by government, research "law of the sea vs law of the land" and the "magna carta", the diffrence between a "notice" and a "true bill" and then still think the police are around to help

    /watch?v=Y3SLwp_2bHg

  • @420Harlequin skip to 2 mins and watch if you actually want to have a proper conversation

  • @jvangurp Seeigmn as how they are employed to serve and protect, I disagree..oh wait...

  • Harassing police officers for there badge # is disrespectful ! they were minding there own business. If they asked you for id you would have a fit. These people and you need to get a job and stop bothering people you will need when your punk asses get shot or robbed !

  • @DeputySheriff330 "Harassing police officers for there badge # is disrespectful ! they were minding there own business"

The funny things is that the same people who harass police officers for there badge # are the same people who claim that they dont have to show cops ID

  • @badpanda84 Damn right !

  • @badpanda84 That's damn right! They seem to want everything their own way and then when the coips do the same thing. they sudedenly don't want to know! Get a fucking job faggots.

  • @badpanda84 -Claim? You don't have to show cop ID unless you're suspected of committing a crime.

  • Got nothin better to do than harrass cops !

  • @DeputySheriff330 WHY IS THERE NO RESPECT FROM OFFICERS? YOU FUCK.

  • @DeputySheriff330 they work for us? how is it that some cops get this childish attitude that they are somehow in their private lives when serving the public? I mean if we the people really decided it was needed we could eliminate your jobs for community police, would you like that?

  • @DeputySheriff330 Hush little boots - you're no longer the watcher.

  • @jerryforpd not sure if you caught it but they said he arrested a guy on a bike so probably the bike in the trunk

  • california police sucks!!!!

  • When PIGS seal peoples property and just drive away...Always question what's going on. Always get the PIGS on video! GREAT JOB!!

  • you annoying idiots, why would they tell you anything? you had nothing to do with the case, the guy arrested maybe wants his privacy too and doesnt want random people knowing his charges. ever think of that? fuck off

  • @FCFsikuri gotta love how copwatch likes to try to violate the rights of the people they claim to be trying to help

  • @MrBfire19 which rights were violated?

  • @FCFsikuri

The officer is required by law to identify himself upon request, which he did not do. He is in his position to enforce and abide by the law. thats why. He is garbage. Too many people such as yourself have a hard time understanding this for some reason.

  • @FCFsikuri Becouse the police HAVE to inform theire names u fuck, it's our right to know who they are so we can make a charge if we c anything wrong happening!

  • @kun1212alwaysFLY Yes the police have to inform their name if they are arresting someone -- to the people involved..

also in the comment it says "According to witnesses, Oakland Police arrested a man without reason,"

Whoever witnessed that shouldn't make that claim -- maybe for privacy reason the police can disclose the reason for that arrest

  • @FCFsikuri an officer has a badge number in order to be held accountable for their actions. You CANNOT have an uncorrupted police authority supposedly working for the public without a system of identification in place. What is it about this that you retards don't understand?

Any officer refusing to give you their badge number or name is hiding something, or giving the impression that they have something to hide.

No wonder America is in the state it's in, so many Americans have no clue!

  • @FCFsikuri it's actually a violation of contract to release arrest information to someone that isn't family of the person arrested, and the cop will get fired. Police technically don't have to answer you either.

  • @FCFsikuri he wanted his name, they are required by law to identify them selfs. and he was asking why he had been arrested because in his understanding there was no reason

  • You morons think because you have a camera you are cowboys....fucking morons. you make Oakland what it is toiday...Cop Watch!!!!...thank god I love in Australia

  • Who says the police are required to identify themselves--lots of youtubers claim its the law but they can't find the chapter in the law that says so. The info about the suspect are none of your business.

  • @jhenderson1647 Most of the information go's on public record any way and different states have different laws and even some departments will make a policy regarding giving out a name and badge number. My local PD tell me they have to give last name and badge number upon request. They don't have to tell you about the suspect but it will be documented with date and time so you can request a copy of the report later if you wanted to.

  • @jhenderson1647 It's actually required by OPD policy. But since these "copwatch" guys had nothing to do with the case, simply harassing Officers, they don't need to respond. But may still get in trouble... most liklely not.

  • @jhenderson1647 From Portland (OR) Police Bureau's Manual of Policy and Procedure (2009):

POLICY (312.50) When on duty or after identifying themselves as a Bureau member, all members

will identify themselves by name and I.D. number upon request (I.D. numbers will

be provided when citizens request a badge number). Upon demand, I.D. will be

presented in writing or through the presentation of a Bureau issued business card.

  • @jhenderson1647 its not who says it, just go look up the laws and stop assuming. they didn't ask for personal info like name, etc....they asked why he was being arrested. Thats not a far fetched question to ask. As far as it being the public business, when did policing become a private enterprise. I'm pretty sure we pay these guys pay checks, correct?

  • These copwatch people are the ones going up to cops, shove a camera in their face, and say we just observing. So it appears that they are fucking with them. Apparently these "copwatch" dipshits need to put the camera down and get a job and a life and stop trying to find some random misconduct case.

  • @SuperQuietstorm1 Ja, the police, they are infallible -- nicht wahr? It is Duty of every good sub- (cough) citizen to accept authority without question. Is only way State can function. Sie hast Recht.

  • What a gay video. "According to witnesses" is the key term here. Keep doing your job police, the good citizens appreciate it.

  • fuck dat nip takem away

  • So this video is posted here whyyyyyyyyyy?

  • Well, that's HALF of the story!!!!!

  • thats sooo FUCKED....they just kidnapped him and took off?!? GIVE ALL AMERICANS MORE & BIGGAR GUNS....to fight their Piece of SHIT COPS, Peace from Canada (especially since you guys got the guns)

  • Another good example of Amrikkkas finest assholes.

  • "ACCOUNTABLE TO THE PEOPLE THAT EMPOWER THEM" --YES , BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN WHEN A CAMERA IS SHOVED IN MY FACE AND I DO NOT KNOW YOU FROM ADAM, AND YOU HAD ZERO TO DO WITH WHATEVER ARREST WAS MADE, THAT I GIVE YOU INFORMATION REGUARDING MY INVESTIGATION! THERE ARE ALSO RULES THAT GOVERN MY RELEASING INFO TO YOU ( CITIZEN) REGUARDING POSSIBLE REASONS FOR THE ARREST. YOU WANT TO CLAIM SOME RIGHTS,,, THE GUY IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE SQUAD HAS RIGHTS ALSO, TO PROTECT HIS INFO! LOL GREAT VID

  • @BILLASHLEY3081 regarding dude, its spelled regarding. not re-guarding what are you doing guarding again?

  • I don't like corrupt officers as much as the next guy, but they really have no reason to answer these people. They have as much reason to answer these people as much as you have a reason to answer them if they asked you where you lived? Basically its none of your damn business. If you want to record, go ahead and record, but they're under no obligation to answer your questions, just as you're under no obligation to answer theirs.

  • @pvd021 Wrong, they are "public servants" empowered by the people, they are in essence answerable to the people. They chose a job as a civil servant and took an oath and agreed to these conditions, that means they are accountable to the people that empower them. These are bad cops, they are not here in service of the people, they are there in service of the city because when they get back to the station and addressed by seniors, I guarantee you they would not ignore as they did in this video.

  • @whanethewhip You're speaking in vague ideology, all of which I agree with. But in this particular case, the guy filming was involved in any part of their business or investigation. They don't have to answer shit to him. Just as a Fireman doesn't have to inform you shit of why a fire happened or why he's fighting a fire. I hate corrupt pigs, but this guy filming needs to be better educated before he shoves a camera to a cops face expecting answers. He's acting more like a cop paparazzi.

  • @pvd021 It is the attitude of the police that I draw under scrutiny, they are both sitting there, in the car, waiting for traffic to move, windows down, someone asks a question, the cops looks at him and just fucking ignores him. A civil servant understand their role for the good of the public would briefly address the question, a dick head cop that cares for no one but himself will ignore those that empower him. As for cameras, every cop needs one on their person with the feed made public.

  • Copwatch losers ha ha

  • Thanks to people like you it's getting harder and harder for cops to be the repugnant, immature, thugs that they are. I get out my camera phone whenever I see those berries flashing! :)

  • crooked cops, keep the videos coming man great job.
