It should be put down .Its lost all its natural behaviour because of lack of stimulation or being an ex circus bear .whatever the reason it,s cruel to keep it alive.
hey, he's kind of like one of the former circus polar bears at the north carolina zoo i saw. only the one at nc zoo was a lot worse, he wouldn't even move. he'd just stand there in the same place bobbing his head back and fourth.poor creatures.
I saw a polar bear pacing up and down for ages at a zoo this week. The enclosure was far too small for her and she looked like she was going mad!!. It was really sad!
Yeah, apparently it was from a circus. Probably just got into the habit and can't break it, and the other bears don't seem to be doing it, so there's obviously nothing wrong with the way they're being kept.
... the bear was bobbing his head. That doesn't make him mad, or crazy, or disturbed... It means he's bobbing his head. o.O; They should put it out of it's misery, wolfcruise? I have a dog that's obsessed with paper shreddings, that doesn't mean she has a problem. Mean's she's weird. O.o
That clip breaks my heart. I'm glad he's not in a cage, but he obviously is displaying abnormal behavior. He needs some enrichment activities or another polar bear or SOMETHING. Poor bear.
Saw this Polar Bear in Aug 06, lives with 3 other Polars. We saw them in the morning they were all sleeping. Went back to see them in the afternoon when this bear was behaving the same. This may be something he did in the circus as a display trick getting food for doing it. If this is correct it's probably a hard habit for him to break. He's better off in this Zoo than in a circus, and in less danger here than he would be in the Arctic where the ice is disappearing and he may not find any food!

They should shoot him.

well we don't really know how the bear feels about his life, do we. he probably prefers staying in berlin zoo to being shot, wouldn't you say?

that's one brain damaged animal. they should put it out of its misery, not insult it further with 'polar bear toys' and 'entertainment'

Bear abuse! They should give it some toys and vary the feeding routine to give the poor animal some excitement.
