Ho impiegato anni a capire quale fosse la mia canzone preferita dei Queen..questa senza dubbi, pensare che è abbastanza sconosciuta...ma mi fa provare grandi emozioni =)
Even now listening to the song more, I can hear that he sings the *higher pitched* repeats of "you don't fool me" faster too, an effect that was at that time a side effect of transposting audio higher (transposinng lower would slow it down).
Just listen carefull to the third and fourth time that he repeats this short sentence, which can best be heard if you repeat the start of the song a few times
So interesiting how all the songs on their last album were made. This song was actually not a song. it was just a short sample by freddy. Later on , after freddy died, their producer made a song around the few samples. If you listen to the 'hook' where he sings 'you don't fool me' , i have the impression that the around the third and/or fourth time he repeats the sentence, it's actually not sung that pitch by freddy, but ' technically' transposed, as the voice sounds a tiny little bit "chipmunk"
@PowerRedBull : from wat i learned from a docu is that freddy was at that time so sick that he only came to the studio to sing his lyrics and then left for home - his bandmembers made their music around his voice. This gave the repeating effect you mention but the producer changed nothing
"May has explained on his website that producer for the band, David Richards, more or less created the framework of the song single handedly, building from bits of lyrics recorded just before Mercury's death. May has said that before Richards' work, there was no song to speak of. However, after Richards edited and mixed the song (including a bit of harmonies recorded for "A Winter's Tale") he presented it to the band"
@PowerRedBull: I know wat wiki says- but im quoting directly from a documentary where the bandmembers said how the album was made. Not to start arguing about it, lets leave it at the fact that the producer had some influence on the song but that as we all probably would prefer Queen made made it love it
What is the name of the documentary, and they mention how exactly 'this' particular song was made?
However, I think the words "leave it at the fact" and "we would prefer" are 2 different things. Just because you would prefer one scenario, does not make it the true one. Although I'm not arguing about which scenario was the case, this can never be a reason to assume something. That would be "fooling yourself"....lol
Im not a huge uber fan who knows everything about queen - so forgive me my question:
Is it right that this song is made after he died? So there is no live version of this song from queen? =/
