Man all these people crying about a drop rate... guess they've never played wow, random drops are random drops and in my experience you get the lesser items way more than the rarer items I would like to know anybody who is complaining about this problem's Level and Guild Rating, yall more than likely played for a week and made a judgement. Grinding is a part of most MMorpgs, if it's not for you it's not for you. Game informer gave this game a 7.75 out of 10 and I'd say thats a pretty good review
This is perhaps one of the shittiest review I've watched in a while from a guy with a lack of rpg / mmorpg experience. Sounds like some young guy that plays over hyped FPS games and couldn't pull a decent rpg name outta his ass that doesn't start with Final and end with a damn number.

Err i don't think this reviewer ever played a certain game called, oh i don't know... FINAL FANTASY. The cool down period between combo attacks allow a chance for both the player and the opponent to have an equal chance at attacking each other.... which of course most gamers should know.
The 2nd WKC should fix Item drop rate or at least make it function properly, if anyone disagrees with me please let me know and tell me how the item drop rate system works out for you. Simple materials that aren't even a rare drop and I can't get them ;[

A common item sometimes does not drop commonly, instead you get a rare item drop which can be a problem if you did not get the item you wanted. Sometimes items don't appear at all when your farming certain items from monsters. And the rare item drops are insane meaning like farming a certain amount of the rare item you want takes up almost a week maybe more due to the game being glitch like

Item drop rate system doesn't work correctly (well for me and some people I know anyways) which makes the player spend more time than he/she needs to just to get one simple material which is why I kinda stopped with the online. One thing that so many reviewers seem to not realize is that you *can* play as the character you create, online or offline, single-player or multiplayer. You just have to *choose to control* your created character from the battle menu. Obviously your character isn't the main focus of the story, but you literally have full control over him/her the entire game. This non-reason has been a major complaint from reviewers, for some reason.
@FFOathkeeper well, what I think they are saying is that charm doesn't exactly make it a good game. I like WKC, but it has flaws that bogs it down as a videogame. In my opinion, WKC is probably one of the best JRPGs on the market, but it has some game breaking flaws for me... like the fact that the enemies can hit you from a mile away. Shit, so whats the point of moving around and stuff. They could've just made the game traditional turn-based style, I think it would've been better that way too
Pretty easy game, bad dubb, no lips syncs, not so good graph's, false real-time rpg, enemies can hurt you with a knife even if you are not close to them.
I thought it would be a new "FF XII" (which is a great game), but it gezz... is so much worse..
Even if it would be classic turn based rpg without this false real-time battle would be so much better, whats the point to walk during the battle or stay away from the enemies when you're a mage or archer? you're gonna be hit anyway...

Is it even possible that Level 5 could make a bad game? I didn't think it was. But White Knight Chronicles sort of proved me wrong. Sort of as in, its not terrible, but its definately not worth buying. Look at Dark Cloud or Rogue Galaxy. Both great great games. Look at Dark Cloud 2, arguably one of the best rpg's of all time. Or how about Dragon Quest 8(I think its 8). All made by Level 5. Where did they go wrong with this one? I just hope a long awaited Dark Cloud 3 is as amazing as the second.
Have been playing rpg's since i was a tiddler and level 5 are gods. Rogue galaxy was one of the best games ever byt this one.... no fucking way. Played over 100 rpgs and this one is one of the worst 10. Really nothing to gather and anoying battlesystem and not even one likable character. I'd give it a 7/10 or 8/10. I like level 5 because of Rogue Galaxy, but this game just doesn't feel right... I understand what they were trying to do with the online play and I like a lot of things about the game itself, but its just the gameplay and story are very boring and drawn out. The whole world just feels empty and there are way too many NPCs. I feel sort of dissed by level 5 now lol. FF12 and KH gameplay in an empty, awkward MMORPG.

@yumyum2k5 He said that you play as a different character altogether on the offline and online. I haven't played this game, but that sounds really awkward to me... Demon's Souls is an RPG where each and every enemy type is completely different.
When you create your Avatar (Custom character), you use them through the story, but at any savepoint, can go online into geonet, where you play online with other people, it's pretty much just Monster Hunter on the PS3, but to be honest, tons better.

The dialogue is really good and fits the characters well. Not all english dubbing is bad in JRPG. There are some good and some not and this good has it really good. The battle is well made, yea it could be annoying to wait for each attack but thats why they have a spell called haste to speed it up.
Actually the combat is a type of realtime. Most people where just expecting something else in the US but I'm not sure why since gameplay vids have been out for awhile. Also the game gets VERY hard online later in the game. Thats when it is the most fun and is worthy grinding to. Also this reviewer REALLy over dramatized everything.
Turtle just made a fool out of him and those who don't know what this game offers besides their own little ignorant expectations. The battle system used is called Action Turn Based not Real Time Battle. To not know what battle system this game uses you(turtle) sounds like an idiot. This is not WRPG that lacks character charm. Did you know that Cloud and Sephiroth from FF7 are one of the most well known game characters? Thats because they are not an avatar the player creates.
Also Please go look at the story trailer again. Did the avatar ever have any spotlight in the story trailer? No. Who got the spotlight in the story trailer? Leonard did. Who obtained the power to use the White Knight in the trailer? Leonard did! Did you see some random avatar transforming into the White Knight? No. So it is more right to say that the avatar should have had a better role as the hero's sidekick partner, which is supposedly you accompanying the hero on his journey.
About Georama. Have you heard of Dark Cloud 1 and 2? The Georama in WKC originated from that series which to tell you is quite popular among Dark Cloud fans (and for some Monster Hunter fans saying the elements of the Georama was ripped off of it, Dark Cloud 1 came out before the first monster hunter game just so you know) The reason why the Georama was implemented into WKC was probably to satisfy some Dark Cloud fans.
Who ever said graphics played a big role in games. As I remember people who play the Wii are not complaining about graphics but when they switch over to the 360 or PS3, all of a sudden graphics became a huge part of the games. Why does every RPG have to look like Final Fantasy? Was there a set rule? Heard of the word preference? As you should know 2D characters are more popular in Japan than 3D. On the graphical scale 3D looks a lot more clean with more details but 2D is favored.
As I remember most RPG uses the same NPC but different name over and over all the time. So as I walk pass you turtle, I will probably say to myself "he's just another westerner who knows nothing about JRPG. They all look alike." Who cares about NPC, when did NPC started playing a role in the ratings of a game? So turtle, please pop the game in again and TRANS-FORM!

Personally as a fan of rpgs I am really enjoying WKC. If I had to rate it on a scale of 10 overall i would give it a 7.5, maybe even an 8, because the online in this game is so fun, theres a great online community with in game message board, friend lists, ect. Teaming up with people is generally a great experience as the community is great.
It seems all these mainstream reviews have unqualified reviewers, especially when it comes to jrpgs. They have bashed every ps3 exclusive jrpg (IGN ect)
All I can say is that reviewers are UNEDUCATED when it comes to this game. Reviewers never pick my games for me and review and pick for myself. This game is addictive and after completing the story I'm still playing the game a 2nd time through. I also created a new character on the side. This game is everything I expected. Sure we got it 14 months later after release in japan but it's on my tops.
I can't find 1 bad thing about this game, it's very fun and I can't wait for White Knight Chronicles 2. If there was 1 thing I would bitch about is that the graphics are outdated, but the only reason why they are outdated is because maybe this game was made in 2008? Come on people do some background check before you make a review. The "International" version is just a dubbing of a game not an upgrade...
Amen there. Even though its abit overdue, this game is very addictive and fun. But I will say this the story could use a touch up, but chances are that will be fixed in the sequel. Overall this is a good game for a RPG person.

It really didn't look as bad as you played it to be. Like, everyone has their own opinion and such, but something tells me this game wasn't targeted to an older audience, but to more of a younger audience. So that's probably why its a bit toned down..

Pretty easy game, bad dubb, no lips syncs, not so good graph's, false real-time rpg, enemies can hurt you with a knife even if you are not close to them.
I thought it would be a new "FF XII" (which is a great game), but it gezz... is so much worse..
Even if it would be classic turn based rpg without this false real-time battle would be so much better, whats the point to walk during the battle or stay away from the enemies when you're a mage or archer? you're gonna be hit anyway...

Is it even possible that Level 5 could make a bad game? I didn't think it was. But White Knight Chronicles sort of proved me wrong. Sort of as in, its not terrible, but its definately not worth buying. Look at Dark Cloud or Rogue Galaxy. Both great great games. Look at Dark Cloud 2, arguably one of the best rpg's of all time. Or how about Dragon Quest 8(I think its 8). All made by Level 5. Where did they go wrong with this one? I just hope a long awaited Dark Cloud 3 is as amazing as the second.

Have been playing rpg's since i was a tiddler and level 5 are gods. Rogue galaxy was one of the best games ever byt this one.... no fucking way. Played over 100 rpgs and this one is one of the worst 10. Really nothing to gather and anoying battlesystem and not even one likable character. Maybe fanboys like spindlysneaker should stay of the net

I'd give it a 7/10 or 8/10. I like level 5 because of Rogue Galaxy, but this game just doesn't feel right... I understand what they were trying to do with the online play and I like a lot of things about the game itself, but its just the gameplay and story are very boring and drawn out. The whole world just feels empty and there are way too many NPCs. I feel sort of dissed by level 5 now lol. FF12 and KH gameplay in an empty, awkward MMORPG.

@yumyum2k5 He said that you play as a different character altogether on the offline and online. I haven't played this game, but that sounds really awkward to me... Demon's Souls is an RPG where each and every enemy type is completely different.

When you create your Avatar (Custom character), you use them through the story, but at any savepoint, can go online into geonet, where you play online with other people, it's pretty much just Monster Hunter on the PS3, but to be honest, tons better.

@yumyum2k5 He does sound like an idiot. But he does have a bit of a point. What they should have done was not include the created character in the story at all, only online. Or they could have given the character at least some dialogue. He doesn't have to be the main character. He at least needs to respond and talk with the party. But no. He just stood there and everyone ignored him through most of the story. I just found it extremely annoying. You cant tell me you where fine and dandy with it?

The dialogue is really good and fits the characters well. Not all english dubbing is bad in JRPG. There are some good and some not and this good has it really good. The battle is well made, yea it could be annoying to wait for each attack but thats why they have a spell called haste to speed it up.

Actually the combat is a type of realtime. Most people where just expecting something else in the US but I'm not sure why since gameplay vids have been out for awhile. Also the game gets VERY hard online later in the game. Thats when it is the most fun and is worthy grinding to. Also this reviewer REALLy over dramatized everything.

Turtle just made a fool out of him and those who don't know what this game offers besides their own little ignorant expectations. The battle system used is called Action Turn Based not Real Time Battle. To not know what battle system this game uses you(turtle) sounds like an idiot. This is not WRPG that lacks character charm. Did you know that Cloud and Sephiroth from FF7 are one of the most well known game characters? Thats because they are not an avatar the player creates.

Also Please go look at the story trailer again. Did the avatar ever have any spotlight in the story trailer? No. Who got the spotlight in the story trailer? Leonard did. Who obtained the power to use the White Knight in the trailer? Leonard did! Did you see some random avatar transforming into the White Knight? No. So it is more right to say that the avatar should have had a better role as the hero's sidekick partner, which is supposedly you accompanying the hero on his journey.

About Georama. Have you heard of Dark Cloud 1 and 2? The Georama in WKC originated from that series which to tell you is quite popular among Dark Cloud fans (and for some Monster Hunter fans saying the elements of the Georama was ripped off of it, Dark Cloud 1 came out before the first monster hunter game just so you know) The reason why the Georama was implemented into WKC was probably to satisfy some Dark Cloud fans.

Who ever said graphics played a big role in games. As I remember people who play the Wii are not complaining about graphics but when they switch over to the 360 or PS3, all of a sudden graphics became a huge part of the games. Why does every RPG have to look like Final Fantasy? Was there a set rule? Heard of the word preference? As you should know 2D characters are more popular in Japan than 3D. On the graphical scale 3D looks a lot more clean with more details but 2D is favored.

So as I walk pass you turtle, I will probably say to myself "he's just another westerner who knows nothing about JRPG. They all look alike." Personally as a fan of rpgs I am really enjoying WKC. If I had to rate it on a scale of 10 overall i would give it a 7.5, maybe even an 8, because the online in this game is so fun, theres a great online community with in game message board, friend lists, ect. Teaming up with people is generally a great experience as the community is great.
It seems all these mainstream reviews have unqualified reviewers, especially when it comes to jrpgs. They have bashed every ps3 exclusive jrpg (IGN ect)

All I can say is that reviewers are UNEDUCATED when it comes to this game. Reviewers never pick my games for me and review and pick for myself. This game is addictive and after completing the story I'm still playing the game a 2nd time through. I also created a new character on the side. This game is everything I expected. Sure we got it 14 months later after release in japan but it's on my tops.

I can't find 1 bad thing about this game, it's very fun and I can't wait for White Knight Chronicles 2. If there was 1 thing I would bitch about is that the graphics are outdated, but the only reason why they are outdated is because maybe this game was made in 2008? Come on people do some background check before you make a review. The "International" version is just a dubbing of a game not an upgrade...

Amen there. Even though its abit overdue, this game is very addictive and fun. But I will say this the story could use a touch up, but chances are that will be fixed in the sequel. Overall this is a good game for a RPG person.

Quit your bitching. I think the review is spot on. I'm pissed I bought this game. Not the worst game ever but certainly nothing to get too excited about. The game is very average. For a single player experience, it's cheap clone of ffxii. As for Multiplayer, it reminded me of Sacred 2(crap). Guess I'll just keep playing ffxi. Queue the FF fanboy comments.

If you hate this game, and believe this review? Well you're gonna think FFXIII sucks because guess what? It has the same dam battle system and it you play it like you're walking on a straight line the whole time. And last I checked, most final fantasy games recycle models and just change the colors of the monster.

I respect the turtle, just because he is tough on games doesn't mean you have to rip on him for it, respect him. Honestly, I think if I payed 60 dollars for this game, I wouldn't be very happy about it. I would rather get something like Final Fantasy 13 or Guild Wars 2, and I havn't even played Final Fantasy.

It really didn't look as bad as you played it to be. Like, everyone has their own opinion and such, but something tells me this game wasn't targeted to an older audience, but to more of a younger audience. So that's probably why its a bit toned down..
