Did this episode ever make you wonder what Reid Oliver was as a teenager? Looking like Eric Stevens and lanky besides, there must have been a whole queue of girls wanting to be his bff. Classmates and schoolmates of the female persuasion thinking "Don't care if he's gay, I gotta get me some of that." A sudden surge of membership of girls to the science club, because he's the president. The club's proceeds soaring with fund raising ideas like Reid at a kissing booth. Just wondering.

@MentallyPausedd THough I was a real fan of Luke and Noah, the relationship between Luke and Reid felt adult, and right. If the writers weren't too chicken, these two could have been a super-couple.
It became apparent that the actor who played Noah was outclassed by ESS when one saw VH's scenes with latter. The scenes between VH and ESS were nuanced, and dramatic when they needed to be.
awwww this is how they were 2 months ago, bless them. they were soo agonizingly cute. now they're just too darn cute - with or without Noah, it'll always be LuRe for me, they're just meant to be. Nuke is like lemon drop, sweet to begin with, then you get the bitter aftertaste XD

Of all the episodes, this is the one I seem to return to the most. There's just something about that really awkward and vulnerable exchange, and that that kiss... How can something this amazing not be everyone's favourite outcome?
@Elke1980 LuRE IS practically everyone's favorite outcome. I believe the writers planned this horrific ending months ago before they realized what gold they had sturck with LuRe. They were just too lazy to change the ending then. We must all call ATWT 866-695-1860 to complain about his ending and ask for a rewrite. One of the cbs employees stated there were already alternate endings in the can. LIVE operators are recording our calls. Ask for a dream scene for Luke..

Well, what a shame we won't have this to argue about anymore in a few months. Yes ATWT is going off the air, and with stories like these it's no wonder. If the need for story lines like this were so urgent, then why didn't it translate into higher ratings? It added nothing that would have saved the show, of course nothing else they were doing did either, but this crap sure didn't. No more Nuke, come fall..ahhhhh what a shame.
@wantsvictory It was already a dying, cancelled soap before Reid came on the scene, so it's probably not fair to look at ratings. Most people have already written it off. If Reid had come a year earlier, who knows?

@wantsvictory I think you have it a little mixed up. This story is on fire and has been receiving TONS of buzzz. I used to be a Nuke fan, but Van and Jake never had chemistry like this. And the Nuke storyline was...well, kinda pathetic sometimes. I think they could have done a better job integrating the other charac stories, but the show is going off the air.
Well if they hadn't got stuck on queer story lines for the last couple of years the way Guiding Light did, but I think the cancellation proves there is no audience for crap like this.

No you're wrong, there were just as many NUKE fans a year ago, and no ratings boost. The gay population is not enough to save a show, and is not a significant enough portion of the population when ratings are factored in.

I feel like we know more about Reid...who's been around since, what, January maybe...than we've ever learned about Noah. I can picture Reid as a little kid, a struggling out teenager, a med student, a socially inept adult who has survived by throwing himself completely into his work...I can ACTUALLY picture these things. ATWT has done such a good job developing this character, and Eric portrays him so well - we feel connected to him, want him to be happy.

I remember playing chess with this one hottie in Ann Arbor. He was a good friend but I admit I had such a huge crush listening to Reid brought back so many memories, I can totally relate to this guy. Much more than I ever could Noah.
i love the current storyline because its a real life situation. if i were the writers i'd stretch it out. let Luke date them both and loose them both. let Noah hook up with someone else. Oliver become alcholic and become suspended. He'll rape Luke in one of his alcholic binges. Luke will become even more reserved and withdrawn. try to commit suicide. Noah will come to his aide in recovery. Oliver will go through AA. Noah's new ex will try to kill Luke and end up hurting Noah. i can go on and on

I am loving this storyline and I'm loving what the development between Reid and Luke. I feel a little bad for Noah but at the same time, can't saw those feelings are getting in the way of my want for luke and reid to become a couple! WOOT!
Of course the writers are going to make us agonize over getting our super couple together (Reid and Luke.) But hey, THEY aren't blind....and they would certainly have to be to not see that Luke and Reid are the greatest super couple ever to appear on any soap!!! Every scene they are in is captivating, almost mesmerizing. I would hate to admit how many times I have viewed their scenes on you tube...I have never like Luke with Noah...
After this episode (aka the cutest episode ever) made me happy and then the spoiler brought me back down, I'm now cheering myself up by thinking that Luke will choose Noah now, but he won't be able to stay away from Reid. Hopefully he'll see what an adult relationship can be like. Then Luke may realize the difference between loving someone and being in love with someone. And then finally, hopefully, choose Reid.

NO MATTER WHAT IS THE VIEWERS THAT DECIDE ANDTHE WRITERS ARE TRYING TO PEASE THE VIEWERS THAT GIVE THEM RATINGS AND IN THAT CASE THEY MAY TWIST AND TURN IT AROUND AND AROUND BUT LUKE AND REID ARE AMAZING ,I THINK THEY ARE THE BIG SUPRISE OF THE SOAP WORLD THE AMAZING CHEMISTRY AND THE FACT THAT THEY BRING SUCH AN EMOTION ON SCREEN THAT IS A LIST CLASS ACTING.
I just thought that they dress Luke a LOT better since Reid's arrival in Oakhell. And then I noticed Richards striped sweater which very well could be an old hand-me-down from Luke - they sure liked him in stripes. Maybe Richard might be interested in another hand-me-down? Just a thought ;-).
OK, it's a soap first and foremost - albeit a poorly constructed one with some of the WORST and FAR-FETCHED Gay SLs ever conceived. Sure it was ground breaking in its time, with the kiss and all, but since then has been going downhill. Diversion after diversion to NOT address the underlying reality of two MEN together in love. Along comes Reid - a realistic SL and again ATWT won't address real issues of breaking up puppy love and moving to an adult relationship. One step forward, 3 backwards.
I know that i should want nuke to live on but im finding it hard to not love luke and Reid i REALLY REALLY want Luke and Reid to get together but i still don't want Noah to be unhappy i wish he could find someone he wants to be with who not Luke and they could all just double date or something lol
@lpb2002 I feel the same way. I really want someone to make Noah happy. It seems like Noah has had a hard time growing up and deserves someone to love him, but not the way he and Luke were a couple, because he didn't treat Luke right.
The kiss was hot. Poor Noah! He witnessed the kiss and was heartbroken. He deserved that. He made Luke heartbroken so many times. This time, he had to pay for those stupid and selfish things he did to Luke.
that preview looks like Luke is trying to get rid of Reid and go back to Noah. I hope not. I want them to explore this a little more. Noah has to learn that Luke is not at his beckon call and Luke has to learn that he doesn't have to be.

@Lolalai Well the reason I hope it's not like that is because it will seem like this storyline is being rushed. I know they don't have much time left so who knows. I do like Noah but I like the relationship between Luke and Reid because it seems more direct and grownup. Reid is also no wishy washy. He knows what he wants and he says it.
I think if the writers stay true to their story, they will make Noah the cataylst for Lure to be together in the end. There is no way that JS can generate enough sympathy into his character to make people root for Noah. I mean, partly it's the writing and then honestly, it's just his performance. If it were another strong actor, like Eric, then I could see potential for a real game changer. But, JS's character is so poorly written and the execution is off.
Neither Reid nor Noah not be with Luke..I prefer that to be the ending...Luke and Noah still young...het ahead ..for your future....then eventually ..if your stable with your chosen career...and really meant for each other..then go for it.....for Reid...maybe a better person is just around the corner to be with him....when it comes to his career..just go on..help people...and improve your social skills...But i'm still for Ruke....with the spoilers.....i think it is not Ruke but Nuke the endgame.

@FLAVEEARR I know, I discovered Luke and Noah last summer around this time, and I watched Luke and Noah's story and then gradually started watching the whole soap, it's not fair I don't get my 56 years with this soap. I got one year I feel cheated like Ktie loosing Brad, I love these characters. I'll write a letter, but the saddest part is, the last day of taping is tommorow. X( it makes it seem like theres no chance.
Noah's "still in love" confession: the first time I've felt sincerity from JS in a while - lovely and VH is more real these last few weeks than for months - both of them have stepped up to the challenges of the new storyline admirably.
Reid's disingenuous "why would you think that?", "trained seal" and "dorky high school kid" lines along with the sidelong look as Luke's hand caresses his cheek tell me I want to ESS in more roles.
@nigotu offcourse they will stretch this storyline till the end they are creating ratings but whatever the twist and turns the final outcome will be the same as they will want to have all three characters in the right perspective luke and reid as a couple and noah as the best man.They will all love each other in the end for all the right reasons.

This is the best love story I have ever seen on any soap. The chemistry between Van and Eric is just dynamite!!! The acting is so compelling that you forget this is a same sex couple and all you see is two people so inexplicably drawn to each other that nothing will keep them apart!!! Lure love! and I am very concerned that electing him now at this moment because there are three months to finish and many things can happen for writers to take account of NUKE FAN and they turn the story. Not really understand how some people still want to see Luke and Noah together after all that Noah did to Luke, Luke suffered a lot with noah.
@SandCmpbll I like what you're saying very much and gave you a thumbs up. I've often thought of Noah being there as a token boyfriend for Luke. I think they've developed Noah's character a little more in recent times. Noah could still come back to win Luke if they keep developing Noah as his own character. It's not impossible. Maybe they've been rusty when it comes to doing gay story lines, and continue to improve.
my honest opinion is L loves Noah, but is attracted to Reid whom is paying attention to him in a way Noah never did, and Reid is aware that Luke still loves Noah. Reid's heart is growing because of luke, he laughs, flirts, jokes, and his bed manners improves

I will feel bad for Noah, once he steps up his game and fights for Luke I go back and forth between wanting Noah to end up with Luke or Reid but in order for Noah to end up with Luke I feel that he has to suffer and feel angst a bit, he needs to feel as rejected as Luke has. Then work his ass off making it up to Luke. I think it would be edgy (for a soap) to have Lure be endgame I would be impressed if they did that. It would make most sense. But I do think of Nuke as a super couple and I think the show and the writers think of them in that way, also Nuke has a militant group of people who would hate ATWT forever and never forgive the writers if they do. I love that Reid is the smoothest operator the lines he gives are exactly what Luke loves to hear and he makes Luke feel so good but those lines are just Reid being honest and those lines and what Reid feels makes him feel so cheesy and high school I love it! he has that sarcastic voice in his head saying "you are a cold bad ass MF, you don't do love" but Luke has woken up his heart - what happens when you regain your heart - you babble and ask the question do you want me as much as I want you
CBS or any other network only care about ratings cause is luke and reid if i know my job in media thats the way these busines is.If they are clever enough which americans dont have a reputation for it ,they should make and show luke and reid on its own ,these actors have a chemistry get them on contract till you can.

@dcat11114u I guess everyone has their own opinions, and I respect yours. Believe me, I used to LOVE Nuke. They were the first gay couple I watched, and I thought they had a lovely (sometimes dry, but lovely nonetheless) relationship. It's not the actors nor the characters faults that the writers ruined their relationship, but in my eyes, they turned Noah into a selfish, unconsiderate, self-loathing d-bag that didn't deserve Luke. Reid was a nice breath of fresh air and he grew on me.
@mlorocker We could sure blame the writers for ruining Nuke relationship for making Noah out as a jerk ( but mind u that's only Lure fans' point of view !) And somehow it just never bothered the Nuke fans one bit! Isn't it funny over a year ago we were all complaining about the development of Nuke being so slow, and now here is LuRe developing right before our eyes and what I would say is a very normal, human relationship. It's great to see CBS grow a pair and display something so beautiful like LuRe...
As for this scene Luke was great! Reid's babbling was interpreted correctly by Luke and I love Reid becoming human.

@zeebs385 This scene really put everything in perspective for me about Reid. It made the entire storyline so much more romantic and gives me the impression that Luke is Reid's first love. Even though Reid has been so upfront with Luke about his feelings in the past, him putting himself out there and trying to win Luke over is totally out of character for him. He isn't comfortable with wearing his heart on his sleeve but he wants Luke so much that he is willing to make the effort.
Dayum, that kiss was hot. I'm really starting to like Reid more and more, but I have an inkling that the show is going to end with Luke and Noah off into the sunset.

@mariophilippo read an interview with Van Hansis, he says Luke's relationship drama is one the writers intend to wrap up at the VERY END of the show. It's his understanding that his storyline is supposed to be one of the biggies they tie up in the last few episodes. so they are definitely planning to milk this bad boy until the cows come home.

@MentallyPausedd THough I was a real fan of Luke and Noah, the relationship between Luke and Reid felt adult, and right. If the writers weren't too chicken, these two could have been a super-couple.
It became apparent that the actor who played Noah was outclassed by ESS when one saw VH's scenes with latter. The scenes between VH and ESS were nuanced, and dramatic when they needed to be.

They were just too lazy to change the ending then. We must all call ATWT 866-695-1860 to complain about his ending and ask for a rewrite. One of the cbs employees stated there were already alternate endings in the can. LIVE operators are recording our calls. Ask for a dream scene for Luke..

Well, what a shame we won't have this to argue about anymore in a few months. Yes ATWT is going off the air, and with stories like these it's no wonder. If the need for story lines like this were so urgent, then why didn't it translate into higher ratings? It added nothing that would have saved the show, of course nothing else they were doing did either, but this crap sure didn't. No more Nuke, come fall..ahhhhh what a shame.

@wantsvictory I think you have it a little mixed up. This story is on fire and has been receiving TONS of buzzz. I used to be a Nuke fan, but Van and Jake never had chemistry like this. And the Nuke storyline was...well, kinda pathetic sometimes. I think they could have done a better job integrating the other charac stories, but the show is going off the air.

I feel like we know more about Reid...who's been around since, what, January maybe...than we've ever learned about Noah. I can picture Reid as a little kid, a struggling out teenager, a med student, a socially inept adult who has survived by throwing himself completely into his work...I can ACTUALLY picture these things. ATWT has done such a good job developing this character, and Eric portrays him so well - we feel connected to him, want him to be happy.

i love the current storyline because its a real life situation. if i were the writers i'd stretch it out. let Luke date them both and loose them both. let Noah hook up with someone else. Oliver become alcholic and become suspended. He'll rape Luke in one of his alcholic binges. Luke will become even more reserved and withdrawn. try to commit suicide. Noah will come to his aide in recovery. Oliver will go through AA. Noah's new ex will try to kill Luke and end up hurting Noah. i can go on and on

After this episode (aka the cutest episode ever) made me happy and then the spoiler brought me back down, I'm now cheering myself up by thinking that Luke will choose Noah now, but he won't be able to stay away from Reid. Hopefully he'll see what an adult relationship can be like. Then Luke may realize the difference between loving someone and being in love with someone. And then finally, hopefully, choose Reid.

OK, it's a soap first and foremost - albeit a poorly constructed one with some of the WORST and FAR-FETCHED Gay SLs ever conceived. Sure it was ground breaking in its time, with the kiss and all, but since then has been going downhill. Diversion after diversion to NOT address the underlying reality of two MEN together in love. Along comes Reid - a realistic SL and again ATWT won't address real issues of breaking up puppy love and moving to an adult relationship. One step forward, 3 backwards.

I think if the writers stay true to their story, they will make Noah the cataylst for Lure to be together in the end. There is no way that JS can generate enough sympathy into his character to make people root for Noah. I mean, partly it's the writing and then honestly, it's just his performance. If it were another strong actor, like Eric, then I could see potential for a real game changer. But, JS's character is so poorly written and the execution is off.

Noah's "still in love" confession: the first time I've felt sincerity from JS in a while - lovely and VH is more real these last few weeks than for months - both of them have stepped up to the challenges of the new storyline admirably.
Reid's disingenuous "why would you think that?", "trained seal" and "dorky high school kid" lines along with the sidelong look as Luke's hand caresses his cheek tell me I want to ESS in more roles.

my honest opinion is L loves Noah, but is attracted to Reid whom is paying attention to him in a way Noah never did, and Reid is aware that Luke still loves Noah. Reid's heart is growing because of luke, he laughs, flirts, jokes, and his bed manners improves

ATWT please give them a sex scene, nothing too revealing just enough to wet our appetite. As dirty-minded as I am, I thought Noah would actually catch them in bed! 'cause really, a kiss is nothing to fuss over (even if it's as hot and well-acted as this one).

@lovelynurse10 just cuz Noah's been with Luke eons doesn't mean Luke doesn't love Reid, relationships end. it seems Nuke has run its course. Luke is in love with Reid, he just loves Noah but isn't necessarily in love with him. that's my call on it. :P

I will feel bad for Noah, once he steps up his game and fights for Luke I go back and forth between wanting Noah to end up with Luke or Reid but in order for Noah to end up with Luke I feel that he has to suffer and feel angst a bit, he needs to feel as rejected as Luke has. Then work his ass off making it up to Luke. I personally feel that Luke's and Noah's relationship has always been one sided and I think its time for Noah to step up and show Luke exactly how much he loves him @zeebs385

I think it would be edgy (for a soap) to have Lure be endgame I would be impressed if they did that. It would make most sense. But I do think of Nuke as a super couple and I think the show and the writers think of them in that way, also Nuke has a militant group of people who would hate ATWT forever and never forgive the writers if they do. Also in respect to JS he does deserve the respect of finishing as the end couple I am for that so long as it is believable and Reid is not hurt @zeebs385

I love that Reid is the smoothest operator the lines he gives are exactly what Luke loves to hear and he makes Luke feel so good but those lines are just Reid being honest and those lines and what Reid feels makes him feel so cheesy and high school I love it! he has that sarcastic voice in his head saying "you are a cold bad ass MF, you don't do love" but Luke has woken up his heart - what happens when you regain your heart - you babble and ask the question do you want me as much as I want you

CBS or any other network only care about ratings cause is luke and reid if i know my job in media thats the way these busines is.If they are clever enough which americans dont have a reputation for it ,they should make and show luke and reid on its own ,these actors have a chemistry get them on contract till you can.

From the beginning Noah has been nothing but trouble- his crazy ass dad, wanting to wait a year to have sex, marrying Ameera, ratting Luke out to the dean, wanting to enlist, leaving during Holden's funeral, constantly pushing Luke away. Tony needs to come back and take Noah away. Or imagine if Kevin turned out gay and got with him!!!

@dcat11114u I guess everyone has their own opinions, and I respect yours. Believe me, I used to LOVE Nuke. They were the first gay couple I watched, and I thought they had a lovely (sometimes dry, but lovely nonetheless) relationship. It's not the actors nor the characters faults that the writers ruined their relationship, but in my eyes, they turned Noah into a selfish, unconsiderate, self-loathing d-bag that didn't deserve Luke. Reid was a nice breath of fresh air and he grew on me.

@mlorocker We could sure blame the writers for ruining Nuke relationship for making Noah out as a jerk ( but mind u that's only Lure fans' point of view !) And somehow it just never bothered the Nuke fans one bit! And we were also never attracted to Reid not for a second either.He's more of an annoyance n I can say most of us wished he was never created ! Guess you're right we all have our own opinions and there's no winners or losers just bad soap writing that's all ! and glad it's over! : )

Isn't it funny over a year ago we were all complaining about the development of Nuke being so slow, and now here is LuRe developing right before our eyes and what I would say is a very normal, human relationship. It's great to see CBS grow a pair and display something so beautiful like LuRe...
As for this scene Luke was great! Reid's babbling was interpreted correctly by Luke and I love Reid becoming human.
Does anyone else think that Richard and Noah will end up together?

@zeebs385 This scene really put everything in perspective for me about Reid. It made the entire storyline so much more romantic and gives me the impression that Luke is Reid's first love. Even though Reid has been so upfront with Luke about his feelings in the past, him putting himself out there and trying to win Luke over is totally out of character for him. He isn't comfortable with wearing his heart on his sleeve but he wants Luke so much that he is willing to make the effort.

for a cahnge we can see reaating in a daytime soap and an intelligent gay storyline hope CBS know their jobs and stick with it ,and its not who is a fan of who is the fact that these two guys are delivering on screen noah or jake silbermann is just along for the ride from here on ,he doesnt have the acting skills and charisma that van and eric have not in a million ,he is an amature actor compared to those two.the storyline is luke and reid ,sorry guys thats the way it is.its business.

@corosol34 yhaa...but you can see in the spoiler...that he recognized already Reid....but at the end he revealed everything..what he saw..i want to see how it is being played out.....the storyline is getting bored........up to now..Luke is still confused...wat is that....we have only 3 mos.....then weekly thet have only 1 or 2 days with 1o minutes......so more or less......to estimate.......just 15 days...to left.....

@mariophilippo read an interview with Van Hansis, he says Luke's relationship drama is one the writers intend to wrap up at the VERY END of the show. It's his understanding that his storyline is supposed to be one of the biggies they tie up in the last few episodes. so they are definitely planning to milk this bad boy until the cows come home.
