@Whyrendog I have worked in music stores in the past and one guy told me that the best way to sell and amp or guitar was to play it first and make it sound great. That's an instant sale and something I have found to be true. I have sold many items that way. A really good player can make anything sound great and an average player usually makes everything sound average. Although some times an average player as well as a great player gets inspired by great sounding equipment.
@BigDaddyblues57 I bought a Martin Stinger and a Peavey 25 watt amp because some dude plugged it in and sounded awesome. I took lessons with him and he became the manager because he sold a lot of stuff. I bought pretty much everything he showed me lol. All kinds of pedals, Rockman headphone amp, more guitars, amps, etc. Then I realized I just really needed to learn to play better because I had too much crap and still wasn't happy lol.
@Whyrendog Some people have a natural ability. So many players are better at certain things then me no matter how much I try. I am not a virtuoso by any means. I play blues and blues rock, I have soul, I play with feeling (especially solos)and find good rhythmic grooves. That is my gift and it's not something you can learn. Everybody has a gift, you just have to find your niche and practice until your fingers are going to fall off. It takes years and lots of work. But EVERYBODY has something.
I played a Tele through a Stone Pony at the LA Amp Show last weakend and it was freaking amazing. Another guy played a Les Paul w/ p-90's and it sounded even better. It just killed. In person this amp sounds 10,000 times better than in the video. Wow.
Got my Stony Pony a few days ago and it is indeed a smoking amp.I had a few ampegs back in the late sixty's and I feel the pony sounds way better and indeed has more gain. The master voltage is a godsend.
65 Amps continues to build the amps people love. The Stone Pony inspired me to see what vintage Ampeg had to offer and I could not resist buying the '64 R12R
21 watts RMS clean 28 watts peak wide open and the best reverb and tremelo I've ever heard.
The Stone Pony appears to have more gain than the original with RCA 7868's
I agree, however I do have amps that do the vox, marshall thing, maybe not as well as the London but well enough. The pony I like for the master voltage, and nastier sound.
Stroud would still make an axe sound great if it connected up to a couple of tin cans and a bit of string!

Peter is a true guitarist. He always stays calm and does not get ahead of himself. Real cool demeanor.

@bigdaddybluesman57
AGREED! I notice in all his demos I like his style and always wonder if this stuff is any good with an "average" player.

+1 on 60's Ampeg R12R, of which I have the '62
with a 5Y3 Rectifier...yes. 300USD!
Unreal reverb and the smoothest breakup.
The only thing it needs is that there Master Voltage control.

I had been saving for a 65 London, but now I'm leaning towards the pony.I like the master voltage and it sure does sound nasty.

Sounds good, but man are those amps ugly.

That amp just sounds downright nasty. Throatiest amp I have ever heard.

I'm not only stoked on the new amp but this guitar is beautiful. Right on! I'm gonna have to check those out.

Lots of people have been waiting to hear this amp.
Works well with the P-90's too.
Thanks for making it available.
