I just watched this on dvd. I have to fully agree with Vaughn here. This movie DRAGS. The Movie starts with a random fight scene/death. and then 10 mins of credits. Then the whole movie you are left guessing. At the end...???? IDK? Humans are the villans? I thought this movie SUCKED big time. I went in expecting to see something like more a traditional hero movie. Especially since this movie had a toy line. I doubt any child would comprehend or watch this movie from start to finish.

@xheadrulez I agree this movie isnt for children, but there were toys available at Toys r Us of Watchman charatcers. Seeing as how they usually dont make toy lines for Non childrens movies, when I saw toys for Watchman I was expecting it to be a totally different movie that what it actually is.

I still see WatchMen toys for sale at Sixflags. I guess its hard selling toys of a movie that sucked so bad.

The whole film is faithful to the original graphic novel. The comic was used as a storyboard. It's not meant to be a typical superhero film, it's very philosophical.

Where do there powers come from? Dude, totally irrelevant. It's SATIRE. They're making fun of action films. They're staging fights in a very traditional way, except that it shows the consequences of the violence. The whole point is the make us wonder if this kind of thing is so cool after all. Spider-Man beating the crap out of people wouldn't be cool in real life. It'd be horribly brutal.

The costumes are supposed to be cheesy. In my opinion, they weren't quite cheesy enough actually. The movie is a commentary on the superhero genre, and one of the things it says is "Look at how absurd superheroes look in the real world."

There are layers and layers of political commentary, symbolism, and imagery in this movie. Seek and you will find. Use your brain.

You have to come to this movie, because it's not going to come to you.

Doc Manhattan is basically a dark satire of Superman. His powers are causing him to lose touch with humanity. He views people as just molecules floating around. Do you worry about the furniture seeing you when you undress? Doc views humans as little more than furniture. The nudity says a lot about the character.

Knowing about a Rorschach inkblot test, does not automatically give you a mask like that. According to the presentation of the film, THEY have powers. The graphic novel may have said they don't, but this move says they do. There are always conflicts when a movie is "based" on another medium. Deal with it. As for your last question: imbedding purposes, I don't want people confusing a star rating for the film with a star rating superimposed over a video.

Other then Dr. Manhattan, where in the whole film did they say that any of the characters have powers. And there is no character with fast movement powers. They are just all regular people in costumes. That is why they struggle so much with themselves.

I've purchased the collection of comics so I can make a follow-up. Thus far, I must say that I reviewed the movie. In the movie, it is verbally stated that Veidt is far faster than Rorschach and Night Owl. I believe they also state he is much stronger. In addition there at least two fights which showcases super-human pain resistance and dexterity.

I agree about the slow motion, but the rest I disagree with. If you had read the comic you probably would of either A.) Liked this better, or B.) Hated the comic. So your not really the audience Watchmen is shooting for. It's not supposed to be all about the action or about the powers, which noone has btw except for Dr. Manhattan.

Maybe this film will be lost on typical audiences, I don't know, but I don't care. Not gonna suffer cuz they refuse to read the book.

When all is right, having a BA in the source material isn't needed to enjoy a film. I make a few jokes; people say I'm confused. Regardless of the source, the passive presentation for 75% of the film, gives it a less than favorable score.

well actully the superheros never did have powers, this is based off of a lets say more real superhero, just fighting styles thats it, nothing more, they never did have powers, they comic actully did explain that. the only one that had powers was mr.manhattin, and they did show you how he got his powers.
