He did not have a good surface to get a better grip. he actually wants to kill it as quickly as possible because while he is doing this he is very exposed, to other hawks or crows (you can see him looking around the whole time). Usually they kil their food very quickly.

if people think it is cruelty, remember, the hawk does not have the physical ability to kill the pigeon instantly- it is killing the pigeon as fast as it can. Hawks are not like cats which torment their prey for amusement. Neither are dogs. when you see canids appearing cruel towards prey- they also are killing the animal as fast as their ability allows. Also, remember, these animals are hungry, and NEED to kill their prey to live. Only cats and humans show true cruelty towards other animals.

2 minutes and the pigeon is still alive. It will die when the hawk starts tearing it apart and eating it. Anyone who claims humans are cruel when killing our food needs to check out how animals kill other animals. The funny part though was that the pigeon was too injured to fly away and landed right under a bus that took off and crushed it.

i did not record it for entertainment. i recorded it because it was happenning. I love birds. Both the pigeon and the hawk. These animals have to eat. yes, it sucks that they need to kill to eat, but so do we. there´s nothing wrong with showing these images. You can always pretend that it does not hapen and that hawks are vegetarian.
