Humphrey sounded slightly more insane to me, and less experienced in a way. Griffith was when Shadow became stronger, totally serious, and a veteran lol. So in my mind, same dude. Thornton might have been fine if the other 2 didn't exist to show us otherwise...

I'm probably in the minority, but Griffith has always been my favorite Shadow voice. Humphrey was good in his own right, but he reminded me too much of Sasuke, and I just couldn't get the "whiney emo" mentality out of my mind. Griffith was good at giving Shadow more range than just the quiet brooding aspect. He could give him a pretty epic angry roar. Kirk Tornton...He sounds like he's constipated with every word. He's on the same level as the new Batman voice. Trying too hard to be badass.

I played Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog and didn't realize they changed voice actors. The quiet, secluded, raspy kind of voice that Humphry and Griffith gave fit Shadow perfectly: betrayed by the world and shelled up to protect himself. His hate is mostly defensive, and the quiet, cocky voices portray that. In White Forest when Sonic calls him fake, I was scared at how emotional he got. Thorton gives a sense of bloodlust that I don't like: Shadow isn't evil he's an antihero with a dark past

Listening to the last voice... Thorntron is only very very marginally better than Griffith. I still get a lot of Griffth-like "generic dark and brooding" type voice from the guy. I guess it's just a product of a character that far outlived it's intended stay. Shadow was not meant to be in further games past SA2, and it shows because it degraded and demeaned Shadow's character a LOT in his later appearances. Hard to properly voice a character that doesn't have any real meaning anymore.

Jason Griffith is a voice actor from 4kids. That right there is an automatic last place for me because 4kids is COMPLETE SHIT. The ONLY good voice from that era was Eggman's voice, because it fits the character. Another reason is that Griffith's voice was too damn generic "dark and brooding" for me, and apathetic at times. In SA2, Humphrey's "MARIA!" scream actually sounded like legitimate anguish, while that same scream from Griffith in Shadow the Hedgehog was just a more apathetic "maria".

I personally favour Griffith the most. He's the voice I was used to hearing ever since I became a Sonic fan. I never played any of his earlier games and only watched Sonic X. Learning about ANOTHER new voice actor, Humphrey, I totally rejected the series. Actually, I rejected it for Legend of Zelda, but my liking of the series HAS dropped a few levels because of the voice actors.

I personaly prefer Griffith as Shdow's VA. Griffith's voice for Shadow totally fit Shadow's personality, and STILL made Shadow sound Bad-Ass if you ask me. So yeah, Griffith's Shadow-Voice is definetly my favorite. I like Humphey's voice for Shadow aswell though. I think that he portrayed Shadow very well. However I cannot STAND the new VA for Shaodw! >.< He dosen't do Shadow's voice (And the personality that goes w/ it) justice. They should've stuck w/ Griffith. Hopefully, Thorton will improve

I like Kirk Thornton in pretty much any role he's in, but as it stands right now I don't like his Shadow voice. I'm hoping he can make it work better soon, though.

As for Humphrey vs. Griffith, I still prefer Humphrey, but didn't mind Griffith at all really. Shadow was Griffith's only voice that I actually somewhat liked. I feel that Humphrey's best voice samples for Shadow would have come from Sonic Heroes or Sonic Battle, despite the latter having a lower sound quality being on the GBA.

I watched Sonic X; as a child, I foolishly liked it but still preferred the game voice actors. I remember being confused when they sounded different in Shadow the Hedgehog, but shrugged it off because I thought Shadow sounded cool, although I still to this day prefer Humphrey.

Point being I didn't grow up with Griffith and I think he's awesome.
