I have a two year old APBT and he is the best dog ever. Like @MsLadonna19 said, my dog hates not sleeping in bed with me. Show the dog the love it wants and I guarantee that it will love you to death. APBT are not bad dogs, they are only trained by bad people.

Socialize your dog, all dogs well up until they are six months old. Dont chain them and give them a lifetime of responsible attention and there will be no problems.

The worst dog attack I ever saw was NOT by a Pitt but by a CHOW where it chased some poor kid up a tree and nearly took his leg off. I have owned Rottys,Bull Terriers and Pittbulls and never have they tried to attack myself or others because they were raised to be loving pets!

to the warloghe... you are so wrong. I have an old pitbull she loves children. She not very good with strangers or other dogs but that is because she was never socialized as a puppy. People were attacked by certain pit bulls not the whole breed. The way someone raises a puppy determines the dog. I love my pit bull more than anything . And even if there were 50 people in the yard, the child should have been no where near the dog if nobody was supervising him. I don't care what anybody says. I've owned Pit Bulls ALL my life and I've never had a problem with my OWN. Pit Bulls are NOT for first time dog owners. They are most certainly a high maintenance dog until they are trained. You can't just expect a Pit to be friendly to other animals since they were originally bred for fighting. People get them to look tough. That's the worst possible reason to own a dog.

I own my Pit Bulls because they're loving, beautiful, loyal and flat out perfect.

Many pitbull fanciers will disagree with you about pitbulls being breed for fighting or bull baiting. Besides, why bother with a breed that is constantly in the news for attacking other dogs, adults, children, and even their own owners. They do not follow the leader/pack mentality. Their high prey drive is all messed up due to poor breeding and backyard breeders.

It's no mystery why these dogs rarely ever get adopted out. People owning this breed should AT LEAST be required to carry insurance.

The "working" aspect of the pitbull makes it a liability to everyone around, even the owners. What's disturbing is when the owner of a pitbull that has attacked or killed someone says, "Oh my dog has never shown signs of aggression." What does that say about the breed? It happens all too often, followed by a similar quote.

@TheWarloghe That is simply conjecture. Of all the dog fatalities in the last 4 years (this is a national study you can google it if you like) only 3 were ACTUALLY pit bulls that were kept as pets. There were just as many weimaraner caused fatalities. There are 6 additional instances of feral dogs (that likely had pit bull mixed in) and there were 34 instances of it being reported as a pit bull only to find out it was NOT a pit bull.

IF PITS ARE SO BAD tell me why not one attack has happened to anyone of those families (those dogs that had been beaten and taught to fight). Pit bulls scored 84.50% on temperament test- can't argue with facts. My dog has and WILL NEVER attack me or anyone else- I put my life on it. Please educate yourself about the breed before you by into the media propaganda. Own a pit first and then be the judge.
