  • Capturing his whole audience as ever. Simply beautiful. Dreamful.

  • Very nice... *lays back and closes eyes*

  • BEETHOVEN IS A PURE MANKIND'S GENIUS!!!

  • Horowitz,s playing of this piece was for me the most memorable ever.

Very hard to surpass Horowitz,s interpretation and playing of this magnificent creation.

I wonder about Zimermans use of tempo in this piece. The relationship between the slower and faster sections of the melody does not work for me . I think he is playing the slow too slow and the fast too fast.

I have been playing this piece myself for some years & am an admirer of Zimerman but on this piece I have heard it performed better.

  • @superwhooper69

Horowitz and Beethoven you must be joking!

The tempo works very well. I have played this sonata myself, too.

And it cannot be played better I assure you!

  • The music is not really from this earth, I don´t know from where.

  • I felt darkess, serene and peace inside .

  • Beethoven!

Uno se llena de paz con esto música.

  • infinitesimally too slow. and that! made all the difference.

  • Well, no comparison. Just a recommendation, if you like Beethoven try Emil Gilels version.

  • @WowheresJoe I agree. I have the whole Gilels-Beethoven Sonatas, except the last ones (Gilels didn´t record the last ones). I Absolutely love the poetic Gilels, especially the appassionata interpretation. But I think Zimerman is almost as sensitive as Gilels.

By the way, it´s wonderful to find you people here. I find Beethovens music as the most inspiring music in my life.

  • @SwordDr lol, good to be agreed. Master pieces are crying for master players. I noticed this since I started listening to Zimmerman. (And right mood, right environment, right instruments........) Too many to enjoy and to learn.

  • @WowheresJoe I have to admit that I found Zimmenman just lately, and he is obviously a grat master.

  • @WowheresJoe I have to admit that I found Zimmenman just lately, and he is obviously a great master.

  • @WowheresJoe Very good said :o))

  • @WowheresJoe There are a lot to "try"......

why don't "try" Backhaus? or schnabel? Richter! Brendel... Nikolayeva, Rubinstein, [etc]

  • @newFranzFerencLiszt cause he paid me good performance to say so? haha And you are right, we should give ourselves the opportunities to listen to good music. Try->choose And Zimmerman and Gilels are the two survived in my iPod. I love them because they love the music they play and the music they bring to me is what I love. Have a good day.

  • @WowheresJoe to you

  • @crawfordfanatic

"Pathetique" means emotional, with great passion, pathos..

  • Typical musician though. Calling it "Pathetique" They never think their work is good enough.

  • @crawfordfanatic Lol XD

  • This is the best movement of the 8th sonata.

  • One of his most beautiful sonatas. They all are lovely but this one is my favorite.

  • A wonderful interpretation, absolutely perfect

  • its like full orchestra...

  • unbelievable!

  • hmm, i'd say the most beautiful melody in the universe still goes to the largo of dvorak's New World symphony, easily. the theme of this movement is great however, and zimerman presents it spectacularly, as he always does.

  • The most beautiful melody in the universe...and Zimerman is the best pianist in the world. What an amazing combination! So glad to see this video. Thank you for uploading!!

  • @rang5882 Could don't agree more!

  • @rang5882 beethoven is the greatest composer ever..... he will forever be remembered :)
