  • This is the Olympic..the mod reel for this clip resides in the historical shipping collection at southamptons west gate museum...it's originally 2 minits 18 seconds long...it was subjected to many tests and checks as in 1938 it was discovered with another film reel but the labels had deteriorated beyond recognition.. It was found that the second reel was the titanic but there was only 10 seconds of that film that was salvidgable..so it wasn't really worth saving..anyone who says they know this

  • @oldskhool4eva then why does the name on her bow start with a T if you look closely?

  • @oldskhool4eva No. This is original footage of the Titanic filmed on 3rd February 1912, and it is held by the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum in Belfast (contact them if you don't believe me). There are also various still photographs of this docking to corroborate it.

You will notice that the name 'TITANIC' appears on the bow in this footage, which is a slight giveaway....

  • you probably won't find this interesting but: in my family we still hold a fire-blower-starter thingy that was made by the scrap metal from the titanic. crafted by my great great grandfather-when he was working on the boat! makes me proud to be irish :') dunno why :L

  • @panhead1219 posted....on youtube? :)

  • Nice boat, but I don't think it will ever make it across the Atlantic once.

    Just a prediction.

    I could be wrong though.

    (posted december 30th 1911)

  • It has the enclosed promenade deck so its the Titanic.

  • Olympic. But curious, where does one find a high resolution film showing the "Titanic," already painted on the ship? Wouldn't that just end the speculation?

  • @SOUTHERNMAN45

How do you know its olympic?

  • Olympic.

  • yes its Olympic

  • its olympic

Emberek! A szemeteken űltök??????

  • @mclarenes23 Check the difference!

    youtube.com/watch?v=gQhRn4LR-KI&feature=related

  • But this video wasn´t taken in thompson graving dock. It was taken in the deepwater wharf just before it was dragged into the graving dock the 2. February 1912.

  • spooky old clips kinda creep me out

  • @lawliet102100 yeah it creeps me out!

  • eh oke you can see its the olimpic

  • @EEMTbv It´s not the Olympic. It´s the Titanic. This video was taken just before dragging by tugboats into the graving dock on 2.2.1912 and the Promenade Deck was enclosed in March.

  • creepy

  • I wonder how many oringal films were taken of the titanic being a ship of great size for that time,,moving film was rare back then,,how many oringal film clips are there

  • This is bullshit .This is R.M.S Olympic no Titanic

  • This is the Titanic. If you look at the higher resolution upload, you can see the name clearly. This was the only film taken that we know of, though - every other film you see is the Titanic.

The enclosed promenade is missing in this clip, but that's only because it was added very late in Titanic's life (when the Titanic and Olympic were last seen together, the thing still hadn't been put on). This is a while earlier, during fitting out.

  • @Zebonka NO! look on 1:18 A - deck - this is 100% r.m.s. Olympic

  • You're a fool. I just said look at the higher resolution upload, where you can -clearly- see the name Titanic. If that is not enough for you, you should know that the enclosed promenade on A-deck wasn't even installed until something like March of 1912, which is a long time after this film was taken.

There are also massive differences in the stateroom windows on B-deck which means this is 100% Titanic.

  • If I'm not mistaken, I think that is the Olympic. I think you have mistaken it.

  • It's the Titanic, see my other comment.

  • This one isn't TITANIC. This is him twin sister, OLYMPIC.

  • @RBorisovable troll watch?v=pWkbDPNmP50 watch that video at 1:40 this is Titanic, Olympic at this point still had NO enclosures they weren't added till Olympic was brought in for a refit AFTER Titanics sinking, this video was taken befor the pictures of Titanic and Olympic together were taken when they had to bring Olympic in to be repaired and still Titanic only had the bottom enclosure because the top enclosure was a last minute change, ONLY Britannic was launched with both enclosures

  • look what Jesus does after he saves, type in google, the man Jesus entered into like a body my perfect size, if you serve Jesus, you will probably loose your teeth and face, cause of what God inside of you does, JOB in bible said, thou terrifiest me in visions and dreams, thats seeing Jesus and him saying things like, "i'm going to make you perish", I betray, "I will disfigure you", I cause gum desease" show this in school

  • @coolathlectic You idiot!

  • Hand crank movie cameras.

  • Didn't think they had cam-corders back then, all I thought there was is just the pictures....

  • @Redphillip1 there were recorders during the Civil War. Some of the earliest footage in world history is of some Confederate troops marching to New Gettysburg. Its really cool to see.

  • wtf? No HD?

  • @loumidis15 yes HD?

  • @Fr3akyana why not? :P i was kidding dude.. haha

  • She was a real beauty

  • When My great grandmother was a baby, her mom ha a friend on the ship...& when they went to New York to go pick her up, she was there & told my great gramma stories that she told me.(:

  • My grandfathers friend was in that ship he survived it

  • There was a design flaw on titanic that they changed on olympic and later on brittanic

  • After Titanic sunk, design changes were made to it's sister ships Olympic and Britanic to make them safer. Olympic was the only ship that didn't sink, it was scrapped in the late 1930s after the nearly bankrupt White Star Line merged with another company. It's also been speculated that they switched the identies of Olympic and Titanic in a big insurance scam.

  • Edwart j. Smith I salute you.

  • looks a real good ship wonder what ever happened to it

  • this is the Olympic not the Titanic

  • @Loveships9 this was before Titanic had the forward windows enclosed

  • I like how this ISN'T the freaking Titanic!!! It's the Olympic!

  • @gutaplayer i agree this is olympic - the main difference between the two ships being that on the olympic the promenade "A" deck was open where as on titanic it was enclosed until the compass between the 2nd & 3rd funnels

  • @abl1703 & @gutaplayer

The A promenade enclosure was done 3 weeks before the maiden voyage. There are pics where both ships are together and have this promenade open. This is Titanic because of the configuration of the portholes on the bow, the overhang of the bridge wing (Olympic's were flush), and the longer B deck promenade at the stern (Olympic's B promenade was shorter) which the archive version of this video shows. Besides Harland & Wolff confirmed that this video is Titanic.

  • @g1a1r1y3 u my man know your stuff the windows were added after sea spray was washing the olympic this 2 a titanic buff is titanic

  • @MrMatbri

Hey, I learned from reading a couple of good books and from other people, including a few here on YouTube. Correction: I meant to write that Olympic's B deck promenade was longer, stretching from the fourth funnel to the end of B-deck. Titanic's was shorter because of additional suites added on deck B.

  • Had the Titanic not sunk when it did, statistically, it would have only survived a short time anyway and probably ended up like its sister ship Britannic (and the Carpathia) during the first world war, All ships were comandiered for military use. So its doutbful Titanic would ever have got beyond 2 years old (and half of that would have been as a troop ship)

  • whoin the world would dislike this video wtf

  • If you wish to be sure that this is Titanic, look at the wheel house- it is shorter and wider than Olympics', therefore making this Titanic.

  • Wonder what the people back then would think to see an aircraft carrier or even a cruise ship now. They were all amazed at the size and now almost any ship in the navies world-wide are MUCH bigger. Just thinking.

  • @oldfart387 From one who had a sweet-heart on the the Langley, the first Carrier, a converted collier. Crew of two thousand, She wasn't in Pearl when the Japs struck, but was sunk february 27, 1942. The survivors were picked up by the Pekoe, and three days later SHE was sunk. You were supposed to get three month shore ship- wreak leave. The guys who made it thought they were entitled to six months, but it was war and how often did you get sunk in less than a week!

  • @oldfart387 I thought that too! Like if those people who were amazed at Titanic's size back then, what would their reaction be if they saw the largest cruise ship in the world today (Oasis Of The Sea).

  • Thats true but Bruce Ismay had the promenade closed just before it set sailed.

  • Not the Titanic, the Titanic's deck was closed, this ship is the olimpic picture

  • @SuperJared666 Thats funny you think it is the Olmpic....it has the damn word T-I-T-A-N-I-C right on the side of the ship....

  • @spm1021 the deck of the Titanic was closed but was open to the Olympic

  • @SuperJared666 ur an idiot-

  • how is this uploaded O_o

  • the government sunk that ship not an iceberg.

  • @ValdemarDragunov Why the fuck would the government spend so much time and money on building it just to destroy it at sea with Thousdands of people, holy fuck your stupid its always the fucking governments fault, sometimes ships sink, the Titanic was ahead of its time

  • It hit an iceberg theres nothing they could do for fuck sake it was only a matter of time until it sunk and WTF was the government got to do with Titanic sinking thats just retarded.

  • @thehappyqueen24 - well, you're sort of half right, at least about Jack and Rose. It was the ship in that movie that was fake - the one in this vid is the real deal.

  • wtf? no HD

  • @WJSED0000

Just wait...in a hundred years from now...our grandkids will be laughing at us saying HD was so 21st century.

  • man, she was huge

  • cool thanks

  • what, no HD!

  • @irepeatyou lol

  • WOW

  • it looks so unreal. i know, this ship was real and people died because of her sinking...but its still strange for me.

  • This is titanic. Before completion. In one video of this same clip, theres a zoom on the name plates and you can see it says titanic.

  • is this before jack entered the ship?? LOL. haha

  • not realy HD :P

  • WILLIE voted for BOBBY

  • Why didnt the cameraman get a close-up of the name TITANIC on the side ,, What a dumbass !

  • @En0ErUP I do nt hear any sound in this video.HAHAHHAHA

  • @En0ErUP Oh how silly of the camerman, he should have realised it would sink and be a famous historical ship, and that ppl would like to watch his film and see proof that this is infact the Titanic and not a sister ship! What a silly camerman yes...... shiiit.

  • when i went to belfast to see my reltives i walk into a gift shop and i see TITANIC EVERYWHERE

  • i think...

    this is R.M.S.Olympic

  • @champster6288 I think they confirmed recently that this is, in fact, Titanic. They had yet to place the last minute modifications into effect, such as the enclosed forward A deck.

  • @Mewtario Yes this is Titanic, before the enclosure of her promenade. The big give away is the over hang of her bridge wing cabs. Olympics were flush with her hull, Titanic's hung over. There is a photo of Capt Smith leaning out of a wing cab looking down that shows how far out it hung.

  • @mytchook

This clip is not the full video, but the ship in the video was confirmed as Titanic because of two other things:

    1. the bow porthole configuration, which was different for each ship;

    2. the B-deck promenade, which was considerably longer on Titanic than Olympic. The full video shows the promenade and it is clearly shorter than the row of lifeboats on A-deck.

  • @champster6288 this is Titanic.

  • 0:13 an so on olympic for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Respond to this video...

  • @77elvistheking I read somewhere that it wasn finished yet so my mistake.

    TITANIC FOR SURE THEN!!!!!!!!!!

  • Were is Leo?

  • @shawn3975 Probably at the bottom of the ocean. Didn't you watch the movie?

  • @dawg1157 :O lol

  • @shawn3975 well he sank to the bottom as dawg1157 already noted, but probably floated back up eventually since the gas in your body would eventually rupture, then he would sink a second time:)

  • @shawn3975 Looll

  • that ship is so beutiful, look at all the colors

  • The mocking words of"not even God can sink this ship"sank this ship!

  • @vrghiks thats only in the movie

  • @ADHR26 Sure? Some one must have mocked God before the movie.Although Hellywood people do have a knack for mocking and poking fun at God.

  • @vrghiks ya look it up

  • Message me for the reason the titanic sunk not because the iceberg and what I will tell u u can never find on the Internet

  • the lusitania and mauritania had a sleeker lines but the titanic and olympic was beautiful in their lines and their interiors

  • titanic or Olympic who gives a shit...both are fuuckin beautiful

  • The ship depicted here is definitely Olympic. I have seen this footage in higher quality, and "Olympic" is clearly readable on the bow in the higher quality footage. Additionally, the B-deck windows are evenly spaced, which indicates that we're looking at Olympic. Titanic's B-deck windows were not evenly spaced.

Additionally, correct - Titanic's A-deck promenade was not enclosed until shortly before the maiden voyage.

  • @schuminweb You're wrong - this was filmed in February 1912 and shows the 'Titanic' being dry-docked for the final stages of fitting out. There are also some still photographs of this which clearly show the name 'Titanic' on the bow, so I'm not sure which "higher quality footage" you're referring to. This footage here is held by the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum in Belfast. Maybe you're confusing this with the photos taken a month later of 'Olympic' coming in with 'Titanic' alongside.....?

  • @batface76 No - it is definitely the same footage. I first saw it in a Titanic video in the 1990s, and it was clearly Olympic. This was not uncommon at the time, either - the two ships were nearly identical, and so since Olympic was first, it got the lion's share of the photos taken, which were used for both ships.

  • @schuminweb I can 100% assure you that this footage is Titanic. Years back I did a very detailed project on Titanic/Olympic, which involved me speaking at length with the museum in Belfast that holds this particular footage. I have also studied every photo that exists of the two ships - I'm well aware of the interchangeability of the photos. That is what makes this footage so special & unique. There is a better quality version of this on youtube actually, and you can see the name on the bow.

  • @schuminweb The b-deck windows are indeed different on the two ships - the better quality version on youtube shows the irregular-spaced windows unique to Titanic. Also look at the porthole spacings along c-deck, which differed between the two ships. Other than this, I can only suggest you contact the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum in Belfast - they've held this footage for nearly a hundred years and will confirm to you that this is Titanic filmed on 3rd February 1912.

  • You got to wonder why they didn't just offload the passengers onto the iceberg. That wasn't going to sink. But I think the main error was their (misplaced) faith in the ship's insinkability. When they finally realized "That Big Ship Went Down" (great old American folk song) it was too late and they had run out of options. Must have been quite an ordeal. You see the same kind of "Blind Faith" people have with "The Fed" and Obama. Maybe America is in for "interesting times" as the Chinese curse.

  • @clarkewi "You got to wonder why they didn't just offload the passengers onto the iceberg"

They couldn't do that, even if they did think about it. The iceberg was not some flat topped platform you could walk around on and was low to the water line, it was a staggering 100 or more feet tall, with almost sheer jagged surfaces, like a small mountain peak. They'd have needed some impressive climbing gear and experiance to offload passengers and crew onto it.

  • @Nowhereman10 I guess that's probably right. One can only imagine what the scene was like on that big ship that night. Surreal. May they all rest in peace.

  • They thought it was unsinkable. That's why they didn't fill up the lifeboats and why some of the lifeboats held men. They presumed help would arrive before the ship finally sank or would be towed for repair. There was only a three hour interval betwen the final sinking and the arrival of help. They didn't know that it had run aground on the iceberg which tore the bottom open making it impossible to contain the water which the holds were supposed to contain from side damage. Real tragedy.

  • @clarkewi also i didnt help that the capten said to keep going... that made more water come in

  • @oseart5556 Captain Smith ordered the Titanic to come to full stop not long after the ship struck the iceberg and had the ship's carpenter inspect the hull for damage. You may be thinking of the Titanic's sister ship Britannic, whose captain did order the ship to go on in a vain attempt at beaching her on Kea island less than 12 miles away.

  • "Silent Films suck cuz there's no audio or color"

man, i wish people would know how classic silent films were back then :(

  • The forward section of Titanic's promenade deck was never enclosed; however ,Olympic's was.

  • @jstewartish sorry but you're making a mistake, the forward promenade deck WAS enclosed on the titanic, just see old pictures and the james's cameron film, the olympic one was'nt

  • I cant see a thing except for the ship and people XD

  • what a beautiful ship

  • Comment removed

  • I don't see Rose or Jack anywhere.

  • @jephsteph tooo funny

  • @jephsteph me either where the fuk are they

  • @tapdancegirl88 thats because Titanic was being built during this footage...common now, we all know Rose and Jack got on at Southampton, AFTER the ship was built and on its way to New York! ;)

  • @tapdancegirl88 well smart ass well the fuk are they i need too find out i need too talk too jack and rose its imported that i do

  • @jephsteph hahahah

  • @kiojose are you stupid? they didn't have the technolgy back then to find her...do you really think they had that stuff back then? really come on!

  • why did they take to long to find the titanic? it took around 73 years to find it.

  • wow i cant believe people have footage from almost 100 years ago and im speechless

  • Thanks for sharing this footage. Yes, it is really the TItanic. It is indeed (as far as I know......and I've been studying Titanic for over 34 years) the only known movie footage of the ship itself. Just wish there were more of it, you know?

  • I understand that there is no real videos from Titanic, even pictures there are very few from titanic, all similar videos and photos are from her sister Olympic

  • @mgarciah In this rare instance this is actually Titanic and it has been proven.

  • r u cerial thats real footage

  • @TheCloudava YES!

  • OMG! is that really the real titanic. her first ride and she died

  • this is titanic the wheel house on titanic was straight were as on the olympic it was curved thats how you tell the difference, thats why its the only known footage of her

  • that is titanic's sister ship

  • @azza1mazza No, its not Olympic. Its Titanic, before to close the lateral windows.

  • @azza1mazza It has been proven that this is legit footage taken during construction hence that A-deck is not enclosed YET. If you study titanic you should have known that already.

  • This footage is not Titanic . Look closely at the promanade deck, it is open this proves its Olympic being shown as Titanics deck was enclosed to help reinforce the liner from panting.

  • @ferretsat13 this could have been filmed before the promenade deck was enclosed, did that cross your mind?? Because you can clearly see the ship, whether or not it's Olympic or Titanic, is not completed yet... ¬_¬

  • your right titanic DID have an open deck, but then they had to go back anf reinforce the struts to prevent a premature collapse. i member now! maybe this is the olympic but its true titanic had the same flaw, so the way i see it this vid still holds cred

  • The Titanic before it got forever gayed out by James Cameron.

  • well it was the titanic as they switched the names over before finishing the ship

  • that is olympic not titanic luck at the A deck its all open and titanic dont have all open A deck

  • She sure is beautiful ... who agrees with me?

  • It is indeed the Titanic. As was pointed out before, the window patterns on "B-Deck" and the faint outline of the name on the bow show it. The vessel has not received its final coat of paint yet and the "A-Deck" forward promenade enclosure was installed only a few weeks before sea trials on April 2nd, 1912. This footage was most likely taken in very early 1912, probably some time between January and late February.

  • olympic,not titanic

  • get off that ship!........ the catholic church to father brown!

  • @salamonetalton stay on it, there's plenty of kids!

  • Yeah, it's the Titanic. The deck was enclosed later as he said. I screen shot it and compared the windows to Olympic and it's definitely Titanic.

  • um well considering its black and white footage...the dark reds will look black ..im not saying it IS Titanic but it could be. if you consider yourself an expert, get a fuckin job doing what you think you know. So many assholes comment many movies acting like experts...if you believ you are then do. if not SHUT THE FUCK UP and DONT COMMENT

  • titanic didnt have all-black smoke stacks. Its the Olympic- one of titanics sisters

  • Esse é o Olympic!!!

Ah Filmagem Original do Titanic sim só saber procurar ;D

  • i was always told there was no orginal footage of titanic, and that this was the olympic, but i have no evidence to prove otherwise. however whichever ship it is...it's not complete cuz the painting doesn't look complete and i've watched this 100 times and i don't see ANIC anywhere on that vid

  • OMG the last ever fotig of titanic can i plz p]bye it off of you plz plz plz PLZ?!

  • Look at frame 14-16.. you will see ANIC

  • From 13 seconds plus, it's the Olympic.

  • @Casscade009 if its the Olympic why does it say Titanic on the bow?

  • You can't really see that, can you?

  • @dallaspolo why is that?

  • your right its the olympic

  • What, no HD?? Widescreen?? :)

  • Its the Olympic. Side decks are open, they were closed on the Titanic... 100% Olympic

  • @AlienPoker Did U read the *Note* at the beginning of this clip? 100% NOT Olympic

  • Titanic-100%

They were actually rushing to get Her finished 4 the maiden voyage n avoid cost over runs.

  • This is Titanic. Rodgues is right. There's other available footage from this reel where you can clearly make out "Titainic" on the bow. The promenade had not been enclosed yet and you can clearly see she's not fully furnished/outfitted by how high she's riding in the water--indicating that this is not a completed vessel.
