Goldfish are harmful to clawed frogs - they contain an enzyme that the frogs cannot break down - it will make them sick if they eat them all the time!

I have had clawed frogs for 14 years now. I feed them goldfish every 2 weeks and they are doing fine. I also feed them nightcrawlers. I have raised them from eggs to adults, and have never encountered problems with feeding them goldfish. What enzyme are you talking about? I am not being judgemental. I just want the best for my frogs.

heyy, I just got some of these guys but the guy said they are too small for fish.. and he sold me shrimp pellets because they didnt have the normal stuff... what do you feed yours? and how often do you feed yours?

Shrimp pellets are good but I found the tank gets dirty quickly. When mine were young I fed them something called Tubflex (I not sure how to spell it correctly) worm cubes. I broke a chunk off , held it it the water so it got soft, and stuck it to the glass. They like small pieces of angle worms too. When they get big you can get a canister filter which helps greatly with keeping the tank clean, but you don't want to get one when they are small because they can get sucked up in it.

You can tell the boys from the girls by looking between their hind legs! Girls have a protruding ridge called the cloaca, while boys don't have any bump. Boys are typically smaller than the females but the mother of my frogs is smaller than some of her sons. Boys also have develop a blacken, rough look to their front hands and can make a clicking noise that is easily heard.

I put the small one in a spare small tank for 2 days and break the shrimp pellets into small peices... idk if that one really eats.. but after 2 days I put her back in the big tank for a day or 2.. then put her back in.... the big one is a beast! hes had 10 fish in 2 months? lol

outsider45, ive had enormous african clawed frogs in the same tank as goldfish, and theyve done fine. just make sure that the goldfish is big enough that it cant fit in the frogs mouth. they will literally eat anything they can stuff in their mouths lol. what kind of goldfish do you have? like a regular feeder/comet?

Feeder fish are just that: Feeders.

These frogs aren't necessarily domestic, so they have all of their hunting instincts still intact.

Feeding them boring reptomin sticks won't amuse them as much as a live fish. And odds are, the goldfish is a treat.

Now why it's in there with other fancy fish is kinda beyond me..
