  • You know, forget all the thoughts that you have about McLaren being a sterile team. This proves that there is more passion at McLaren then any other team, Ferrari included. The fact that the whole team came out to watch just goes to prove how importaint their history is to team members. I feel so proud as a Kiwi that they remembered Bruce in this way.

  • Those Can-Am cars were mental. They were faster than the F1 cars of the day, and F1 in the 1970s was dangerous enough as it was

  • That is one beast of a car...

  • I went to the MTC yesterday and spoke to the silver haired guy, he was working on the MP4/1 John Watson won the 81 British GP in. He was just the most facinating man to speak too, he has so much history in motor sport. A realy great bloke aswell. Does anyone know his name?

  • I love how respectful the employees are of what they are witnessing, true professionals. take a look at them in background. They stand there fixated. They know the significance and the history. Awesome video.

  • superbe hommage, magnifique bruit !

  • A wonderful tribute to a motor racing legend

  • How FANBLOODYTASTIC is this !!!!!!! Nice one BASH

  • I love the way Tyler Alexander lovingly pats the old car's rear wing at the end...

  • @haynet1962 i missed it, and thats the best part now

  • Bonerific =D

  • @mrsexii4677 Couldn't have put it better myself.

  • Those were the days, my friend...

  • brilliant, cheers for this.

  • Yeah! I grew up watching Bruce and Denny, the cars and the drivers were absolutely thrilling to watch during the Can-Am series. Those cars are etched in my memory! Way to go Ron! RIP Bruce.

  • rip bruce - a true kiwi legend

  • I'm so glad I got to see (and hear ! ) these brutal but beautiful machines back in the day.

    A wonderful tribute, indeed.

    Thank You for sharing!

  • Is it really 40 yrs.....a wonderful driver, engineer and such a quiet, thoughtful unassuming chap. A fitting tribute to both him and Denny.

  • Look carefully and you'll see that Tyler Alexander gives the car's rear wing a loving pat as he walks away at the very end. Poignant and touching.

  • Quite moving and thrilling at the same time. Only Ron Dennis could combine a tribute like this in this way. Long live the Bruce and Denny Show! I will never forget them in lock step at Laguna Seca tearing into Turn 9 with that incredible noise and little flames popping out the back and each left front tire locking up just the right amount... before turning onto the main straight and assailing our ears with that full bore glory.

Thanks for doing it so right!

  • Well done, gentlemen! Hard to believe it's been 40yrs.

  • the best tribute to anyone, ever!

  • RIP Bruce - well done Ron.

  • I love the lick of exhaust flame at the end. Awesome!

  • Denny got it the act too, it's Denny's M-8D, #5 they're running. Right on Tyler.

    Turbo-Tom

  • Yes, incredible!! My father is probably better known in the USA and Canada because of the success of these Can Am cars rather than F1. Great that Tyler was there and Ron and Martin honoured the ocassion. Great to see all the comments about dad as well, thanks:-)

  • it will be nice if they started M16A with the OFFY TURBO!

  • Well done McLaren, great way to remember a legend. Proud to be a Kiwi!

  • wow, i bet bruce would be so proud if he could see what mclaren have become.

thanks for the great memories from a great team.Go Mclaren!

  • AWESOME. How can one not smile...

  • Engine-music. RIP to a great man.

  • What a way to remember the almighty Bruce McLaren!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's like sex in my ears when I hear that.

  • I'd love to visit the MTC someday. Amazing to see how far McLaren has come.

  • what an awesome tribute to a great driver. . . wish I could have been there. I would not have had my fingers in my ears, but would be grinning from ear to ear. . . amazing sound.

  • love the flaming exhaust at the end

  • amazing sound...

  • Dear god that things brutal.

  • That's a very fitting tribute for a great man. RIP Bruce McLaren. It's very cool see his old car still running, and his team still operating and still successful.

  • Oh, yes! Ha, ha, now THAT is a different kind of music!

    What a great idea, a minute's silence followed by a minute's noise.

    Only at McLaren.

A credit to the great man.

  • Very nice way to honor a great man...

    R.I.P. Bruce McLaren.

  • WOW!

I'm surprised the guys nearby ears aren't bleeding...

    WOW!

  • Sweet As...

  • What a noise...

  • The other guy running the car apart from Neil Trundle is Ron Pellett. Hes been a Mclaren mechanic since Teddy Mayor ran the team.

  • Love it - thanks for all the good times, Bruce!

  • Yeah, you can see Ron Dennis in a dark suit at the beginning of the video, standing ramrod-straight just behind the gorgeous McLaren M8D. Ron's one-time business partner Neil Trundle is the silver-haired guy in black leaning over the car, while Bruce McLaren's mate (and long-time McLaren man) Tyler Alexander is the sandy-haired guy in jeans and a pink shirt. Legends all.

  • look at mr dennis amazing engineers at mclaren

  • Gorgeous.

  • That is like aural viagra.
