  • I am arranging with the permission of Mr. Campbell to make available printed copies of these TEN COMMANDMENTS.

It has been brought to our notice that there are still the odd errant females who are NOT aware of these COMMANDMENTS.

Prince Buster has personally asked me to remind ALL WO-MEN that these are NOT REQUESTS .... THEY ARE COMMANDMENTS ~ so be decent and OBEY

  • HA! Hot cool feminists will say this thing rocks..dance now! Lets go!

  • The h'inspriration of I !

  • had this on a lp by buster , bloody stupid me sold it just 2 years ago been looking for it again ,very hard to get ,bugger lol well great to here it again.

  • check out princess buster's reply to this song.

  • Where did you get this...i remember we played this in new york many years ago came south no one heard it.you are good.

  • I have a sense of humour. I love Ska. I love this.

  • not a good mix tape starter when wooing a woman...

  • Compare this one to Plastic Bertrand's "Dance Dance"

  • Commandments 7 to 10 BAAAAADDDD!!

  • Prince Buster was the biggest 'REGGAE' artist of the sixties in Jamaica. His biggest hit here in the uk was Al Capone.

  • my mate recons madness ripped of his tunes - what do you lot think?

  • Thanks for the posting man. Great song and I used to love to dance to this at the Lotus in Forest Gate or the Ilford Palais, great memories and such a wicked song, love the bit about not shouting my name in the street if i'm with another woman, but wait til I get home and then we can both have it out peacefully!!! Quite right!!!

  • Ska is for not taking life seriously :)

  • Naw man. Buster was the King of cheek, but there's a serious message in every one of his licks. You gonna tell me Young Gifted and Back is a joke? If you really take 10 commandments apart you see that every one of those, is a quote out --of context and liberally massaged-- of the messages of prophets like Isaiah and Jeremiah.

  • Yes it is a sexist song but I think peoples are missing the fact that it is tongue-in-cheek. Prince Buster was a joker after all, all of his tunes are mickey takes.

  • In 1972, I played this song for junior high school students in Harlem. The boys loved it but the girls hated it!

  • Another fabulous song from Prince Buster...Fantastic.

  • i too remember this from our youth club around 71/72, skins @ suedes great days!

  • Teds, skins, suedeheads, grebos, greasers, you'd see em all, on a Saturday afternoon in Sheffield in the early 70s. These days, the kids have no identity.

  • You could'nt have said it better, kids today have no idea!

  • Me and my mates are skinheads and wer only 16! So dont be ignorant you twat! haha OiOi

  • NO IDENTITY! Mate, there are loads of kids doing their own thing nowadays its hard to count all the trends! Individualism is the new trend...

  • I will not give you anything but what you actually need for your purpose.....bloody hell that rules out a lot including him!!!

  • why did the woman cross the road? who gives a toss what was she doing out of the kitchen!

  • Yes sir

I say that as a founder member of"Equal rights for married men"

  • Huh? All married men have equal rights already. You can't get more equal than none.

  • Superb!!! Prince Buster The Man!!!

  • We found this song as a Single (45 EP) to day at Salvation Army for 48 cents..it's an American print on RCA VICTOR (47-9114 )..I just needed to say that..I was my lucky day,I have not found bargains like that since the early 80's..Prince Buster is the real Prince

  • This song is a True Classic by the great King Buster. Men still think this should be true.

  • "There is a female version but cant remember who sang it, both versions are fab. Ska rocks"

You might be thinking of P.B's other song called Wreck a Pum Pum, The Soul Sisters did a female version of that called Wreck a Buddy

  • Check out my vids, it's there.

  • The female version is Ten Commandments of Woman. Can't remember who's on it and my copy is buried in amongst all me other singles so I can't be arsed to go digging it out. Sorry! :-)

  • Sod it. I went and dug it out. Have posted a video reponse now!

  • Have been to listen to your record. Not a ska tune but more like soul. Interesting.

  • 'Interesting...' Very tactful. Personally I think it's a terrible song, ha ha!

As for it not being a ska tune, admitly it's not your pigeonhole ska sound but I'll leave that for the obsessives out there to argue about lol

(and just to clarify to everyone else before I get abuse about calling THIS record terrible, I was meaning the version I posted, ok?)

  • great music!

  • he`s right you know.........women need to know their place, kitchen and bedroom.

  • When I was a youth, this seemed to go on forever.

  • Hi mrrk, when I lived on the Harrow Road in the '60s there was a record shop called Blue Beat City where the rude boys used to gather. A very lively place!

  • The feminists should better listen to this whole Rap and Hip Hop stuff of today. Then they have something to worry about! Bring back the Prince!

  • True, rap and hip hop music emphasize stuff way more sexist and insulting than this.

  • Absolute classic... here's to hoping the ladies have a sense of humor.

  • There is a female version but cant remember who sang it, both versions are fab. Ska rocks

  • tsssssssssssssssssssssssss ke musikon!!
